Never got too dark? What about that two parter where the fortune teller predicted a meteor would destroy the town, then NME made the meteor come right away, and while everyone disaster-prepped, Dedede had to come to terms with his own mortality and his wasted self-serving life?
It's really neat, because the lesson actually STICKS in a subtle way

Them sticking with Kirby's Poyo language for the majority of the English dub was a smart choice.

Should be noted that Amy Birnbaum saying "name Tiff" was only because in the original, Makiko Ohmoto says "Fumu-san?" and they had to call an audible. Beyond that, anytime Kirby says anything resembling Japanese was cut, in favor of him just saying "poyo".

Fun fact, me and my cousins grew up watching this show, thinking all of kirby was "just a show", so when I got Kirby Squeak Squad (my first kirby game), I was really shocked to learn that it even HAD a game series. I literally brought it to them and we were all like- "KIRBY'S A GAME!?!?!?"
Fun facts about the anime:
- The bird (Tokkori) in the original is voiced by the same person that voices Young Link from the N64 onwards (even in Smash Ultimate!)
- SO many characters/enemies that were in the games shows up in the anime at some point! Chef Kawasaki, Knuckle Joe, Rick/Kine/Coo, Whispy Woods, Kracko, even Scarfys, Mumbies, and Phan Phan. And of course, the Halberd shows up in the last few episodes.
- There are like, 10+ episodes that are just straight-up parodies of pop culture. From Jurassic Park to Harry Potter to Gone With The Wind to a modern art museum (complete with actual real-life art) to... Goodbye Mr. Chips, for some reason. There are so many references.
- The original has Kirby music! Some is direct from the games - Green Greens from Smash Bros. Melee plays during one heroic sequence. A few tracks from the anime were also directly featured in Kirby Air Ride (or maybe they were in the game first, can't seem to find out). Yes, the Kirby dance also makes an appearance. I don't even want to know how the dub handled that without the actual music track.
- Some of the 'new' transformations Kirby gets near the end, including Water Kirby, are contest winner submissions! Kids in Japan actually submitted ideas for transformations and a few of them made the cut in the anime. And Water Kirby is one that actually became canon in the games afterwards.
- The series actually uses a lot less 2D-3D mix as the episodes go on. Kirby is usually 3D but characters like Dedede are less frequently 3D near the end of the series.

@@swagkirby3449 the music was re-used in a lot more than just that and air ride. every major kirby release has featured something from the animes score. whether whole-hog ripping it off, or providing a remix of one of the tracks from the anime (an example being super star ultras blooper reel. which then was remixed when fighting chef kawasaki in a sub-game in return to dreamland)
some of the animes score was even used in smash bros (checkered knights was wholehog ripped from air ride... which was wholehog ripped from the anime.)
my point is even today the animes japanese score is so good, that it has been recycled and remixed in countless games since.

Yeah any instance of Kirby speaking English in the dub is the actress for Tuff I think it was. All the Poyos are the lady who has been vocing him since either Smash 64 or Kirby 64 whichever got released first.

Nostalgia be damned- I love this show to death. It also gave some nice character development to characters. Dedede, although still a giant prick, does care for his people sometimes, especially the waddle-dee’s. Meta knight was also showed he isn’t just a purely stoic and knowledgeable swordsman, but he has a soft side and also cares about people
I have actually met Meta Knight's voice actor a few years ago! He also does the voices of brock and James from the pokemon cartoons if I remember right

This anime was the first thing from the Kirby franchise I was exposed to. It felt wrong to me when I encountered chef Kawasaki as an enemy in the video games. He's a very good guy in the anime (as far as I remember).

A little backstory on the waddle Dee's that I found interesting, is that waddle Dee's are a very polite species. It's said that if you give the waddle Dee's hospitality like food, water, or shelter, the waddle Dee's will insist on serving your every need to pay back the good deed. If that isn't the purest thing to exist I don't know what is. This was explained on one of the episodes though I forget witch one.

- the racing episode where we get to see wheel Kirby

There's an episode of the show where Kirby gets a robot dog friend. Go look it up, because it is probably the most emotional Kirby has ever gone.
16:09 fun fact there was a part in this where they talk about certain tricks that are used in cheap anime so I take it that they weren't cutting corners with this. I know some of the computer animation looked a little hokey but this show had a high production value for what it was

This anime was actually the first time I was introduced to Kirby, through the Kirby tv channel. Then Kirby return to Dreamland came out and I was like "holy shit! There's a videogame about Kirby?!"

What if they made another Kirby Dream Collection? It would be pretty cool to have RTD, AM, NID, 64, 3, SSU, 2, and the OG for the main games, Blowout Blast, Fighters DX, DDD Drumdash DX, Battle Royale, Air Ride, Block Ball, and Dream Course for the Spin Offs. Brawl ball, Kirby Quest, Team Kirby Clash, and the Theme Park from the original Dream Collection for the Sub games. As extra bonuses, a music player can be accessed with music from all the featured titles will be included, plus extra playable characters in the form of King Dedede, Meta Knight, Bandanna Dee, and Gooey for all the featured games. Along with Kirby history, trivia, and quizzes to sink your teeth into. That would be awesome, and yes it'll take a lot of work, but let's remember that the switch is able to handle Smash Ultimate, one of the most content-filled games EVER.

The Kirby anime feels like an unironic shitpost and I love it for that
Kirby wasn't often the focus despite being the main character, but the show insisted that Kirby was going to be a silent protagonist so it would have impossible to make him the focus all the time unless you did the show in a format where nobody talked. That can work in the form of cartoon shorts but I don't see that as a viable way for a length cartoon.
Also on the note of Kirby being dumb, there is another episode where Dedede uses television to hypnotize everyone into attacking Kirby, including Kirby.

Kirby is canonically a baby in the anime, in one episode Meta Knight says Kirby woke up 200 years earlier than he was originally supposed to.

@@sheldonakintoye5480 yes, but the overall design came from the anime. Most notably the six spikes on the sides with a red jewel in the hilt. With the amazing mirror and before, Meta Knight's sword was just a normal sword but yellow.

The only thing currently stopping me from watching this anime is that I can't tell if I want the dub because of Dedede and Metaknight, or the sub because of music and uncut content.
It's literally preventing me from getting in because I can't figure it out XD
The sub is most likely better as ive heard but the dub has a special place in my heart. Watching it for the 4th time and its still hilarious

As a kid i was so confused by the different voices with metaknight in the anime and Brawl
But Brawl didn’t have voices. They only had sounds of pain and a lot of groaning.
