We still think of you Syd.....your voice, your heart, your image.....still is in the brains of many. Like a tv signal bouncing around the planet to be seen 40 years later....you still live.
I really love you and I mean you The star above you, crystal blue Well, oh, baby, my hair's on end about you... I wouldn't see you and I love to I fly above you, yes, I do Well, oh baby, my hair's on end about you... Floating, bumping, noses dodge a tooth The fins are luminous Fangs all 'round the clown Is dark below the boulders hiding all The sunlight's good for us 'Cause we're the fishes and all we do The move about is all we do Well, oh, baby, my hair's on end about you... Floating, bumping, noses dodge a tooth The fins are luminous Fangs all 'round the clown Is dark below the boulders hiding all The sunlight's good for us 'Cause we're the fishes and all we do The move about is all we do Well, oh, baby, my hairs on end about you... I really love you and I mean you The star above you, crystal blue Well, oh, baby, my hair's on end about you...
Imagine hanging out with Syd talking about animals , botanic gardens , lost love and other casual subjects while excerpting passages from the comte de gabalis, summoning faeries and gnomes and a knock is on the door - in walks Steve the peregrine Took with some broken instruments he found in the trash and says “ let’s make a song from the pages of Tolkien”.
Syd was not an acid casualty. The increasing stress from touring and disliking the music industry led him into the mandrax addiction I think, and this explains to me why he lost such a big spark. But even in darkness, he's put together some of the most mesmerizing musical work of all time. I do think he experienced some psychotic breaks due to LSD, and especially STP (there's literally no way he didn't encounter this one based on research I've done). But after he retired, spent years at home painting and all that, his family recalled he'd recovered quite well.
Really? No, dude. It was LSD. You can defend all you want but it was obviuosly the drugs. Your research is flawed. It took him years at home to recover? Child, please.
I don’t think he did STP, unless someone brought some over to the U.K. from the States, and that’s pretty unlikely. STP was distributed for a very short time in San Francisco around June 1967 and not a lot was produced.
im just going to say a stream of words that sound good to me: music mates and lorn poets lend many yearning hands to whispered willows many miles from port-dwellers and the woman of troy
When I shared with someone that my head kept singing the first two lines of a song after I woke up from sleep with the sun to my face, twice this morning, they responded with "cute" and then "corny." :\ come on daisy blooms ily. fr i really do
I had cool older sisters, I was 10 years old when they went out I smoked there pot and listened to Syd, I got into punk late 70s, they didn’t like punk,, off went my hippie boy hair to spikes,, ck out my band my on guitar/vocals ..NO PLACE TO PISS,,, aka the PiSs ,, BoMb77 ☠️
Everything's sounding great and I'm thinking this isn't terrible and then a missed chord and, oh yea, there it is. I've read the recordings were rushed and the guys didn't have the time or energy to fix it like they could have and still feel guilty about it.
This wonderful track, my personal favorite off "The Madcap Laughs", was produced by Malcolm Jones in the Spring of '69. Quote by MALCOLM JONES ~ "Barrett was in 'great form, and very happy, and very together'." Later in the Summer of '69, Barrett, for some unknown reason, decided to change producers. Quote by MALCOLM JONES ~ "When Dave [Gilmour] came to me and said Syd wanted him and Roger to do the remaining parts of the album [The Madcap Laughs] I acquiesced." I believe Dave and Roger ruined the album by including those Barrett solo Acoustic Guitar songs. Quote by MALCOLM JONES ~ "I felt angry. It's like dirty linen in public and very unnecessary and unkind."

Syd was one of a kind. I'm impressed everytime I hear him.
Rest In Peace, Syd. Thanks for your excellent songwriting.

A delicate soul, w/ a brilliant artistic mind. You won't be forgotten, Syd,

He‘s a True Legend eventough nobody outside the Floyd Community knows him.
'eventough' ??
It's more the comment than the spelling.
might just be that im crazy but i find a certain satisfaction in putting words together in a way i like. even if it doesnt make any rational sense.

I'm not sure but I think so.
this song sounds more upbeat at 2x speed.
Yeah.
Sounds good at any speed.

His art came before money. Unlike most in 67
The music is exactly as disjointed as the words.

Well oh baby my hair is on end about you
According to Pink Floyd one would assume Syd was so far gone he was functional. But he seemed fine on his solo stuff
David Gilmour stated that making the albums was tough because Syd still wasn't in his right mind.

I don’t understand why his guitar wasn’t plugged in. Makes no sense, especially since it was not an acoustic.
