Well done on finding “the One” small Premium Bible for you Tim! I love the SC text and the references in the inner margins. 👍 For me, I’d want maps in the back and for it to be NIV. 👏 But love that edition!
It was your video that made me pick the esv reference bible it was nice and I still use despite reading more CSB at my church, I really like the red dying and the three ribbons and all the stitching and rebinding. Excellent find! The single column reminds me of like kindle or a regular book and I almost ignore the verse numbers letting me focus on the message which I love about my esv reference single column bible like the one you showed
What a great video! Thanks Tim. ❤ I’ve got this Bible in the original deep brown calfskin. Still in its box with the Pledge Card in it. When you first mentioned it, I paused the video, jumped up and went to find my beautiful Bible. It is absolutely lovely. It even still has that great leather smell. However, font is a little small so I prefer my ESV Clarion goatskin for readability but certainly it’s one to keep. Thanks again. 😊🙏🇦🇺
It’s absolutely gorgeous!! I eventually want to rebind “the one” also. It’s such a great idea! Til then, I will enjoy my Schuyler. I still want to get the Trevaris, it might be “the one”! I’m older, so I need the larger font! I’m very happy for you!! 😊
I love this, a great example of whats possible today, find a textblock you love and get creative with the cover. You end up with something truly unique and your own. Bravo Tim!
I am a pastor. I am also a collector of Bibles. I probably have in the neighborhood of 40 or 50 Bibles… Literally and I have never found a Bible that has everything that I want in it. And I don’t think what I want is unreasonable… But I’ve never found one. That’s why I have 40 or 50. I guess ….the search continues.
I am still on the hunt for my favorite Bible.😁 I found a new one and it's not expensive, only $50, but it's a purple KJV and a 10pnt font by Tindale. The best thing is that it's verse by verse, so memorizing verses will be easier, words of Jesus in red, and the references are tiny and to one corner. Also, it's simple but it has the concordance on back. I know my perfect Bible will come one day.😁
I think the trick is: you fall in love with the Bible you use. The deal with very expensive Bibles is that sometimes we’re to afraid of ruining them with use, but… that’s like the whole deal right? Making them your own.
I’m still on the hunt. I’m 47 and when I was 23, I gave my NIV84 B&H to Michelle Tumes (singer back then) as a gift. Been searching since lol. Happy for you Tim!
I just got an ESV 10pt font thinline reference Bible with a binding by Scriptura (Pauls Leather). The cover is full grain and rustic. The Bible is awesome and so easy to carry around and grab to read.
I love my ESV personal reference edition Bible. It's a tru-tone cover that looks like black leather and is very nice but is not premium and is starting to fall apart a little. Great video!
An inspiring review Tim, thank you so much. I have not well this week with a cold but this review has aided my recovery Big Time. I will search for these ESVs on the Internet.
This Bible was also the one that sent me into the world of premium bibles. My first one was purchased in 2016 in the Buffalo-style Cowhide from Crossway. It was my immediate favorite and every day carry Bible. I preached, did ministry, personal study and family devos with it. I would also take it to work with me (I'm a bi-vocational church-plant pastor). For six years it was "the one". But, as you pointed out, the font size is a bit small and the line spacing a bit too tight and what my 37 year old eyes found acceptable, my 42 year old eyes started to balk at. I had to retire it because of that and presently I have settled on the PSQ as its replacement, though I don't use it hardly as much as I also prefer single column reference bibles and in the "personal" size footprint. Presently, my go-to is the Allan ESV NC1 due to it's fantastic layout and thinner size. If Jongbloed would take the Crossway personal single column, and update and reformat for the aging eyes, I would throw Allan more of my money for one of their Charfleet bindings. Thank you for the reveal! It was fun to watch.
I still use my cloth over board ESV PSR all the time. Best layout for a small bible in my opinion. Inside References keep the text away from the gutter. Great Choice!
Now that you mention this, I have two small King James Version Bibles! One of them is a Scofield Study Bible, and the other one is a plain ordinary Bible which is small enough to fit (with difficulty) into a shirt pocket, but its fine print is easy enough to read! I now live in those parts where the King James Version rules, and I therefore decided to join the club!
Have you seen the NEW Full grain ESV thinline from Crossway? I just picked one up. Super affordable and durable. Might be the perfect one for me. I'm not afraid to beat this one up.
I really enjoy your channel and would love to know if you are aware of an NASB reference bible that is thumb indexed, wide margined, and red letter - ideally with their comfort print and which is around 9” tall and 6.5 “ wide. Either the 1995 or 2020 text would be fine. Now that would be my ideal Bible. I have been searching for months and months with no success. Thanks for all the research you do on our behalf, and your presentations are very professional. God Bless.
Your website needs the ability to search through all your reviewed bibles for specific features. Checkboxes for font sizes, leather/leathertouch, red letter/black letter/blue letter (my fav), translation version, year of (like NASBs different ones), block type, single/double column, reference, concordance, study, etc. Would be awesome to see what filters out from your long list of reviewed items.
Oh to have young eyes again. Font size is such a big deal to me anymore. As I preach, I print out the texts I'm using and slide them into my preaching bible just so that I can read them.
I personally enjoy the two tone leather Bibles with rusty brown and black tone 😊 with that stitching. Slightly extra yap. Thumb index. Two column no lines with references and study notes at bottom and each book with detailed information on author, dates, and history of the period.... I am
My favorite to physically read is the Thompson chain reference. No text in the gutter or on the books hills. Just flat easy to read text. My favorite Bible with notes is the esv study Bible

I'm looking into my first Bible and I really want a premium leather bible in the color like the Memphis Bible you mentioned but I didn't realize there were so many versions. Which version do I go with. I want one that I can pass down to my son when he grows up.
Was internally screaming yes! Because I found my favorite go to midsize bible in the Allan Personal Reference! Second premium Bible I got ans have fallen in love with the text block and of course it’s an Allan.
Is there a similar single column NIV text block? Not necessarily with references. I know they have the single column reference Bible and the pew and worship but they are both big Bibles. One like the pew and worship that isn't large print would be great, in like a 9 point font
Those are very expensive my brother, in light of you being so thorough do you know of some more affordable rebinding companies. I to am a lover of Bibles of all sizes and translations, I have one nice goat skin personal size and I'm interested in acquiring one more possibly, would appreciate some pointers please and thank you. Congratulations! I think I have this one. But I have to check. I may not have the references version. I like the blue leather and colored gilding. 👍🏻 Update-yup. That’s the one I have, in black tru tone. 😀

Hi Tim, I was hoping you could help me with finding a particular Bible. My mom wants something a bit easier to read, like the NLT, but she also needs thicker pages. Right now her big gripe is thin pages that are hard to turn. Her eyesight is good, so font size isn't really a problem. But we need thicker pages, 36 gsm is good. She doesn't want a journaling Bible like the Inspire and wants verse numbers unlike Immerse. It doesn't look like any of the standard offerings by Tyndale fit the bill...maybe a hardcover "pew Bible" style? If you have any recommendations please let me know. Thank you.

Daniel is the man! I have a Logos rebind too from him. An NAS95 Passagio tha the put for sale a year or so ago. Enjoy your rebind!

The personal reference is probably my favorite ESV edition and this rebound one looks amazing!

Beautiful! Just wondering why you prefer this over the Clarion? Seem v similar!
The Clarion, for me, it’s tad too “short and stout.” I don’t love how thick it is compared to its trim size.
Please let us know how much one could expect to pay for one like this?
I love that, with the exception that I would want different colors, and in a KJV.

I find most rebinders are sharing in the $300-400 range for this level of work… sometimes more.
Does the gold come off from one of these Bibles? Cause I had one once where I always had this glitter on my fingers after touching it
