Never worked with Leather much less did a bible rebind, I had a vintage 60 year old bible with the brittle cover literally crumbling apart, got my materials & tools (under $40) & did my Bible in a sheepskin cover, paste down leather liner, new ribbons & custom letters on cover. Took me a few hours for 2 days (about 6 hours total) I’m super happy with the results & it’s only possible because of you’re EXTREMELY informative & detailed video. Huge thanks Mr Frost. God bless you brother you’ve allowed me to use my Bible again 👍🏻
@@MansterBear I cut corners for the letters I used my Cricut cutter & foil iron on (which I already had) the sheepskin leather was literally $7 on Amazon, glue $2, ribbons $4 & some miscellaneous tools like Xacto knife etc. really wasn’t hard or expensive (even if I didn’t have the Cricut my Bible would’ve just been letter-less. I didn’t not stitch I did not tool I did not do a 100% true rebind but it’s pretty close for the time energy cost & effort I put in. Which like I originally said was MINIMAL
@@Danny_Servant_of_God that’s awesome. My wife has an old KJV passed down thru her family that’s starting to fall apart. I’d love to surprise her with something like this but I thought “man I don’t have all that stuff and I can’t go spend $300 on tools” lol
More decades ago than I care to remember, I earned my bookbinding merit badge in the Boy Scouts. The task turned the paperback Boy Scout handbook into a linen hardback. We were taught by a man who bound the books in the basement of the main New Orleans library. I have my finished handbook unto this day (50+ years). As much as I love that old book, it looks nothing like the craftsmanship we see here. A couple of years ago, I found Frost Leather on the net. At that time, I had an off the shelf Zondervan Thompson Chain Reference NASB whose exterior was nothing to write home about. It was far from being a beautiful thing. Frost changed all that! After watching this video and seeing all the steps involved, I’m convinced that I got the best end of the bargain. Hey, you're the Bob Ross of bible makers. 🙂It was fun to watch you. One of these days I'm going to make myself a bible after watching your video. Thank you very much
Your detail and workmanship is awesome. I loved every minute of it. Thank you for all the information for the step by step process. I also make wallets and always wanted to make a custom tooled bible cover. You have provided me with the courage to do this.
This video is legit! Honest and easy to follow, I must say, I am not much of a "measuring" guy so I was lost when talking about that part. I am a tech guy so, yea, anyway...This video is solid!
I have a Bible that was given to me as a birthday gift 46 years ago. It definitely needs rebinding, and I thought that I might like to give it a try. But after watching this video I think I'll just put that Bible away in a safe place, 'cause this is much more difficult than I want to deal with. You do good work! Keep it up!
This was awesome. Decided I wanted to get into this first as a hobby and this has only made me more excited to begin the journey. Thanks for the content
Your videos have been such a help as I've been getting into rebinding, and I've already got friends at my church giving me old bibles to do lol. God bless you man, praying for you and your ministry♥
I have been a leather worker for 15 years. I am not a believer and would have little business with those who need bibles being rebound. I admire every bit of this skill and your passion. I think providing this service for your clients is worth so very much. You have forgotten more about leather binding then I will learn. Thank you for this video. Two comments, if I may. You talked about your interior step being perfect. Forgive yourself for being slightly off if you can. The discipline seems to be the goal. Within your own metaphysical system - you cannot be perfect - you can only strive. That seems the appropriate goal. Secondly, the result was SO worth your work. That is heirloom quality and such a good watch.
Whoever is getting that bible is one happy puppy. I absolutely love the black cover with red liner. It pops so good. I have a schuyler esv with the same color scheme and I love it. I love the allan look with the bigger yapp.
Hey man, thank you SO MUCH for this video!! Thanks to you I was able to do my first rebind!! Thank you for showing your trade online and sharing it with others!! God bless you!!
Been waiting for this from you! Just finished my first rebind the other day with help from a book and your other videos. Pretty excited to have this remastered version. Thank you for doing this. You flew through some of it haha but that’s awesome. I can tell you have this down to an art!

This is so beautiful! I‘ve always wondered how a bible is bound . So awesome and absolutely brilliant job you did. Thank you for sharing! God bless! Love from Germany to you and your loved ones. 🇩🇪
I’m so glad you can do this so easily, gracefully and peacefully. It reiterates how artistically illiterate I am and makes me bow my head in shame for my “flip outs” if you’ve ever seen Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase when he works his tail off hanging Christmas lights on his house and when he tries to turn them on and they don’t work. He at first starts to wiggle wires lightly, then a little more aggressively and before you know it he’s destroying his yard decorations and finally goes for one more try with the wires and as he brings the two ends together…. RIGHT THERE just before the electricity arcs or jumps from one wire to the other his face and the sound he’s making is me doing this book rebinding. Great job. I would absolutely love to be able to do this like you it seems so relaxing and satisfying. Beautiful work.
That is funny lol when I first started re-binding almost 10 years ago, it was a struggle, and it would take me days just to get one rebuying done. So keep practicing and at some point it’ll become easier and easier like any trade.
Gorgeous simply outstanding and so beautiful with a lot of care and attention to details. I thank you so much for sharing your hard earned knowledge with us. I can not afford to have a Bible rebound and have several that are in need of it so again thank you. Take care and God Bless...

This is so cool. I’ve done a very small amount of leather work. Coolest thing I’ve made is a cover for my camping hatchet. But my wife and I have about 18 bibles in the house… One of them is a super old KJV. I swear the paper in it is thicker/better than résumé paper. It was passed down from her grandfather to her, and has some pages sewn in for officiating weddings. But no one in her family knows where the Bible came from before her grandfather or why those pages are in there. This is making me want to practice on a few of the extras, then surprise her by rebinding that one when I feel I’m good enough and know I won’t ruin it. The cover is also old cheap imitation leather and starting to fall apart. Thank you for sharing this awesome info. I know you’ve put so much time and sweat into what you’ve learned. It’s great that you bless others by freely sharing it. God bless brother!

Maybe this would be a good future video!

Great video! I've always had problems trying to skive with a knife. I splurged and bought a Sharffix branded after hearing some people had issues with the clone versions.
So at 1:08:30ish when you make the center slit, do you want the text block on top of the inside liner or just perfectly on the inside of it? If that makes sense.

Absolutely fantastic to see
Thank you!
Bro! I just finished watching the whole video. Thank you! It was very helpful. You’re awesome man.
Glad it helped!
Can I ask a rough estimate of this? Do you still do this?
Great video! I've always had problems trying to skive with a knife. I splurged and bought a Sharffix branded after hearing some people had issues with the clone versions.
So at 1:08:30ish when you make the center slit, do you want the text block on top of the inside liner or just perfectly on the inside of it? If that makes sense.
you want the liner tap to match perfectly with the length of the Bible; too short and it looks funny, too long and will be a terrible finish.
