I am a beginner at the dip system and always have difficulty with cleaning up the cuticles before the dipping base hardens. I thank you for showing me this method! This method is so great because it gives me all the time I need to do the clean up around my cuticles before curing. I no longer hurt myself trying to buff off mistakes...
i never would have thought of doing this. i like how they’re a little bit thinner because my dip nails always turn out soo thick
I knew about dip nails for over 12yrs now but had never tried it until recently. This method is indeed a game changer in the nail dipping world. Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤❤
First time trying this method and I loved it! The layers turned out smoother than when I use dip powder & no burning to my nose and eyes! I have definitely been experiencing the dip flu for like 8 months now. Thank you for your tutorial!!
I have a severe allergy to dip activator, so I’ve used this method for a year or so. It’s quick, strong, and so easy to remove!
So good to read your success. I am new to dipping and am covered in a rash and congested, after 2 dips! I'm guessing it's the liquids, but I have no idea the source. I just ordered gel liquids and a lamp, hoping to be able to use the gazillion dip colors I have purchased during this quarantine.
how do you remove it?
I’ve been dealing with dip flu for almost 2 years now and always associated it with my nail place. Bought DipWell and after 2 dips, I’m sick as usual. Switching to the gel method!
How lasting is it? How many days?
How long does it last with how many coats?
omg this looks so much easier!! Thanks for the new method❤️ it looks so good!!
I always do my nails like this! And its really lasts me like 3 weeks. I love it ❤
Sounds fantastic!
im having trouble with some lifting at the ends, i capped my nails when dipping with regular liquids. how do i do this with gel?
Wow, thank you !
I am soooo glad for this video. I have 30 jars of revel and for some reason lately I couldn’t get the activator to harden up the dip even though I had a new bottle of activator. Tried multiple times. Now I’m into gel and I love it so much better. I thought I was going to have to toss all of my revel jars!
I can’t wait to try this method! Dip liquids can be more complicated. Your nails look so nice😫😍
yess girl! you’re literally a nail goddess😍❤️
Since I've been bored in the house and I had all the supplies I gave this a shot. It worked so well!!! I tried it out in my most recent video (and included a link to yours in my description). Thanks for the inspo!❤️
Thanks for the very helpful video. I had questions, but read through the comments of people with similar questions and you did a great job responding to all the questions. I'm definitely going to try this method next time I do my nails.
I've been doing this method when I wear my natural nails. I'm very hard on my hands and I've found that if I put a thin layer of clear builder gel on top it really helps with longevity and strength. Maybe give that a try!! Love that color!! ❤
I’ve been doing this for a while. I like it so much better than using the dip stuff you’re supposed to. Because it’s basically glue. I just replace everything with the gel polish- it’s so much better and it lasts just as long. Definitely an easier remove as well
Do you think this method change the color a lil bit and make it look lighter?
I'm a first time DIY nail artist and this method works wonders for me. I have no problem with it at all. It's easy. Lasts long. Saves me a lot of money. Strengthens my nails. Gives me fabulous nails. All in the comfort of my home
You're so good at what you do Kate! 🙌🏻🥰
Wow beautiful color and a great alternative technique!
I didn’t know about this method but i can’t wait to try it now! 😊
This color is absolutely beautiful 😍
i love how much information you give with all your videos!
Can't wait to do this next time! I feel like this is way better than all the chemicals with the activator.
The color is so pretty ❤️
Just did my nails like this, it works great! Thank you very much. I almost bought a set of dip liquid today. Thanks to you I’ll keep doing this method. 😊💕
This was so helpful, and the color is pretty 😍💖💖
Outstanding tutorial and that color is gorg! Btw - your nails look so healthy and beautiful with that shape! Love it!
thanks so much! 💓
Thank you for this!!! I’ve been wondering about using gel with dip like this but was too scared to try it. Just got now dip powders can’t wait to try (-:
Thank you for this! I cant keep doing this dip flu mess but i want to keep doing my own nails.
Will try this method for sure. Thanks for the video.💕
Thank you for sharing this. I used dip powder until I started getting dip flu. Now I use gel and I love it.
The color 😍😍😍
I love LOVE your videos!!!! Thank you!!!
I love this color!
Amazing idea I’m definitely gonna try these 😊😊😊
The nails are really pretty
And i love you
This video was really helpful , thanks for sharing 💕
Love this method! And I need to wear this color already!
i do too! this was my first time using this color and i don’t know why i hadn’t used it before! 😍
It's such a pretty colour :D
😍😍 you are so talented
I’m getting closer to being number 1 🥰🥰
Love your videos!
I like watching you working with this method!! I would like you to create a french set using this method! It would be great😁!!
I agree that it's not so durable but it's more flexible than the normal method.
You should do it that away because it creates a better structure and it blends in better:
1. You apply the base on 3/4 of the nail and dip.
2. You apply closer to the cuticle but not all the way and dip again.
3. You cover the whole nail and dip.
This will form a small apex and the nail with blend in seamlessly so it will be less likely to lift. Now I'm wearing this set for two weeks still not any lifting.
The con of it is that it takes a lot of time but you don't have to file a lot since the area is smooth♥️
Any idea if you can add tips using this method?
@@Zawjatulmo Definitely but you should blend them in with your natural nail because if you don't the dip will be uneven there.
This video really saved me thank you 🌹
this is so smart omg! my glue bottle is always a mess and i literally am super careful but it’s like it doesn’t matter
I love it,great idea beautiful nails
BTW, gorgeous color Kate! 😍 I follow pretty much these same steps, except I don’t flash cure and usually just do 2 color dips. Oh and 1-2 dips of clear for my base (I use the same brand, Azure, for my clear!) and I think Modelones is my fave top coat (and maybe base coat too) for doing dip powder nails. 🤗☺️ Watching this vid was so satisfying - LOL! TSMFS! 🙏🏾💕
What do you mean by cure? Is she using a lamp?
@@claudiamartinez-rv1tl Yes, you must use a lamp to cure gel polish otherwise it will never dry. Inhibition layer must also be removed from gel top coat using alcohol, unless using a no-wipe gel top coat.
I tried my dip nails like this before your right u cant just dip it in it smudges I do prefer the dip liquids. and I love modelones base and top coat. nice vid
I love this method ☺️
Love This! Thanks for sharing!
Ik I say this all the time but these are beautiful💜💜
Love this color
Thank you so much for this post. I have recently figured out that I have been suffering from dip flu as I get extremely congested and sneeze like crazy after doing my nails. I will try the gel liquids and hope that this will allow me to continue dipping!
Did it help you?
@@ashruz_3095 it did help with the dip flu symptoms, but I feel that my nails are not as durable with the gel…
Thanks! I’m a slow painter so this help greatly!
Thank you so much! So helpful ☺️
Gorgeous ❤️
I will definitely try this method! If you use structure gel, it was make them hard!
These are cuteeeee
Omg lol I saw that old vid still love your vif
I was like yay I can do these and then realized I dont have gel liquids yet😂😂
I may try this method next time, I always feel so rushed when I’m doing my regular dip nails and they always come out clunky, hopefully this will help with that!
I know im randomly asking but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account?
I was stupid forgot my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me
@Gunnar Lyle instablaster =)
@Trace Sonny Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and im in the hacking process now.
Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Thanks for including the curing time, a lot of PPL don't!
Thanks for sharing 🫶♥️
Love it!!!!!!!❤️❤️ Could you please make the tutorial with tips based on the same method as well?
thank you! i'm not sure how this method would work with tips, but i might be up to try it in the future!
It works exactly the same just make sure you rough up the tips so the base coat grips them well!
If you take and put some of your powder in a salt shaker ( a new one ) it would be a little fast to put on the nail then what you was doing just a idea... love the video...
Rossi nails sent me a dip powder kit and I tried it, a few of my nails came out chunky and unfortunate looking 😂
Maybe I'll try this.
How has no one though of this before!
Wonderful Kate! So i just re-watched your older video. After comparing the two my question is: which do you think works better to protect the powder color.... The gel liquid or the clear powder?
thanks! i personally think the clear powder because it is slightly thicker than the gel.
Thanks so much! I did this today because I don’t have any more dip activator, and my nails turned out so beautiful! I wonder what the results would be like with structure gel? Or structure gel with nail tips?
i’m not sure but i might try it in the future! 🙃
They turn out great with it
I'm gonna try
Do you cure each nail before dusting off excess?
Oh I may try this today!! I’ve been wondering if I could do this. Or, adding polish toppers on top of the dip!
Stacie Renee Yes u can add polish toppers
CRAFT WITH TEJAS Thank you! I would do it after the two top coat layers dry, right?
Stacie Renee Personally i would first apply topper then the top coat to make it smooth
I can’t even open my glue bottle right now so I’m definitely going to try this! Can I use the activator to strengthen the dip powder?
hi! the activator will not have an effect since you’re working with gel.🤍
Do you still put primer on before base coat and do you still do first layer on 3/4 of nail so less bulky at cuticle ? ps love yor videos!!!
i don’t use primer anymore, only dehydrator. and as for the method of dipping it sort of depends on the look i’m going for! otherwise everything is relatively the same 🤍
I use the gel method, it’s so much easier, and I’m now at a week and a half on this newest set of mine. Still holding!
The big difference is color. Revel says some colors may not be true with the gel method. I’ve been doing it for months now and the only one I see that’s drastically different is Erica. Light pink is almost white. I have terrible natural nails, so I use fake nails or tips and this gel method works great!
does the brush still get stiff? do i need a brush saver for gel?
Beautiful color! So for this method you don't use the dip activator?
correct! no activator needed.
Do you use acrylic primer or dip bond before applying the powder? Thank you so much luv
hi! normally i only use a dehydrator before applying dip products and find my manicures last quite long :)
How long do you find your nails last using both methods? I normally have my nails done at a salon using the regular acrylic method and am trying dip nails for the first time.
i find generally both methods last about the same, usually 2-3 weeks!
I get my liquids from ddp but lately my liquids have been getting to thick I alway keeps them out of the sun close them but they been getting ruin to the point where if I wanna use them it’s like a no and the bottle breaks on me 😭 I will try this method today 🥰 fingers crossed this works for me
Great tutorial, but my question is ,how much more work is it to take or soak off verses the regular dip method?
these soak off identical to regular dip nails! no major difference 🤍
Does anyone know why the dip colour would completely lose colour when using this method? I’d it base it too coat fault? I used different base/top combo and it was ok (only the slightest colour shift). I’m puzzled
I love love love your videos! So my first time dipping was about a week ago I bought the Kiara Sky starter kit and I had a allergic reaction my eyes were swollen. (Didn’t realize it was the dip until I looked up dip flu) I love the kind of thickness of using the dip liquids but i want to use gel. Can it be built to have a good durability as the dip liquids, would I have to add another clear coat?
hi! they can be built up to be super strong. it might just take a few more layers!
katesnails thank you!! 💕
Yeheyyyu
Is the translucent powder on top necessary? Only reason I’m asking is because I have dips but I don’t have the translucent powder.
hi! i wouldn’t say it’s absolutely necessary, i just like to apply a layer of clear to protect the color underneath from filing.
Does this mess up your gel base coat though? Like get the little granules in your brush and mess up your base coat?
hi! i find if you thoroughly brush off the powder this doesn’t happen. however it isn’t a bad idea to have a separate gel base dedicated to the dip application 🤍
do you use base coat for the layers then top coat for the end? or top for everything?
i used the base gel liquid to apply the powder layers and then sealed the manicure in with a gel top coat!
The first time I try this method and I am not sure what the best uv/led lamp is the best to use? Is higher wattage better?
hi! i honestly don’t really know the answer to this. i use a 48w lamp for all of the products that i cure and it has worked for all of them.
I loved your video, looks easy to do your nails on your own. What powder do you use, is it acrylic?
this is dip powder, which is finely milled acrylic!
Can you just shape and file the nails before you even begin this process so you don't have to do it after the color is applied?
hi! shaping beforehand is a good idea, however to maintain that shape you will need to file once the product is on.
So no curing needed with an led light? If so how long should
You wait before doing the next coat?
hi! you do need to cure in between each coat for 30 seconds when using gel liquids.
Have you ever tried applying a powder glitter over a gel color? Oh the possibilities 😊
Thank you for sharing.
What’s the different between the gel liquid? Also love your channel❤️
the gel liquids allow more application time and freedom as well as don't have strong smells like dip liquids can sometime have!
Can you use the apex method with using gel liquids, to still be able to create a curve?
hi! yes, you should still be able to use the apex method! 🤍
How do you get your gel top coat not to peel off? Whenever I buff my dip and put gel top coat on, it starts peeling off in a couple days. What grit is the buffer you used?
i use a pretty rough buffer for my buffing and filing. the cause might be because the nails are too smooth so the gel top coat doesn’t have anything to grip onto. i would recommend using a 100/180 buffer for this process to make sure there is still some texture on the nails. hope this helps! 💓
katesnails thanks!!
Hello i have been searching for years how to apply it using uv light can u please tell me what u added first and last ? Plus does it need activator cuz here in my place they dont sell it so i dont know if its ph or primer can u help me out with this
hi! everything that i used in this video should be linked in my description.
They look beautiful what gel are you using please ?
i'm using modelones gel products and they are linked in my description!
Thank you! I can never work fast enough with the dip glue 🤦🏻♀️
Me neither! Then, I rush and over dip, ending up with a clumpy mess. Lol.
what grit do u use to buff the nails? thanks
So is this the best way to do this without the other brands with the 4 - Steps bottles? I'm new to dip powder I need something quick and easy I don't wanna buy the wrong kit.
- Can you use any dip powder for this method.
yes this technique can work with a variety of brands! any dip powder will work with this method.
Do you find that you need to file with all dip powders or is it possible to skip filing and just add a top coat?
hi! i generally find i need to file with all dip powders. not only does filing smooth out the nails and make them nice and even, it also applies a crucial factor in determining the longevity and application of the top coat.
@@katesnails what grit do you use?
hey! i have a gel polish that doesn’t need curing, would that still work?
hi! it isn't an actual gel polish if it doesn't require curing, it is most likely a regular polish labeled as a "gel". for this method, only a real gel polish needing curing would work :)
