Yeah, the guitarist is Rabea Massad... he's incredible. He's done stuff with Leo from Frog Leap Studios (the "Africa" cover), Jared Dines ("Shred Wars" and the biggest shred collab video), etc.
The reversed guitar headstock can sometimes give you a longer scale length to the neck... that can help with down tuned guitars that require more tension for the strings... but a lot of times its just a visual thing...
Now I get the point of reaction videos. I’ve listened to Illumo thousands of times, but I massively enjoyed sharing the listening with you. it was just like a new “first time” listening emotion!
Guitarist here to answer your headstock tuner question!
There’s a couple reasons it might be beneficial:
1. Ergonomically it is easier to reach the tuners if they’re underneath.
2. Tuning stability - this type of headstock causes the largest string to be under the most amount of tension, allowing it to keep in tune when tuned down.
3. The smaller strings are also under less tension for the same reason, this causes them to feel slinkier, thus allowing you to bend more comfortable and such.
There may be others, but as far as I understand, those are the main ones.
Now, since Bea is using a double locking system, reasons 2 & 3 are nullified, meaning it is primarily for ergonomics.

#2. yes . i i have to give this answer so much when young ppl dont understand the benefits from a multiscale guitar..
Those are some common misconceptions you have,
1. Ergonomically, it's actually harder to reach the tuners if they're on the bottom.
2. The tension is negligible and doesn't come into play because the scale length remains the same.
3. It's purely a visual thing.
@@Pughhead I would disagree with ergonomics, with the tuners on the bottom, your hand will stay under the fret board and neck, with the tuners on top, you move your hand more to reach the tuners. And it isn't a misconception
About time you fuckin did this. My favourite band getting the recognition they highly deserve.
Rabea & Dave mesh so well, & Ben does a great job in not doing too much, but just what the piece requires. Love everything I've heard from Toska.
p.s. I''m pretty sure Karnivool is one of Rabea's favourite bands, so I'm not surprised you mentioned feeling an influence there! :)

Another song you might like is Centred and one by a band called dorje. Same guitarist and drummer I think, but that song is much more of a headbanger. Super beefy guitar tones, groovy af riffs, and a kickass solo in the middle. I Highly recommend it, that song has some of the best riffs I've ever heard in my 8 years of playing guitar.

My personal favourite track is definitely flower of Life.
Tannis Axebrow both bands are great but Dorje and Toska are far from each other mate. Dorje have that Alter Bridge feel and Toska are on another level of crazy instrumental heavy proggyness.

Reverse Headstocks serve no real proven purpose, although many guitarists claim that the low E-string being the longest instead of the shortest which is normally the case gives it a bit more stability but that could not be proven yet.
The only thing ppl really use them and I love them aswell for is that they look cool as hell :D
it has nothing to do with stability mate. reverse headstock is best for low tunings due to e tension via length
