Seventh Dimension - The Great Unknown and there is also another progmetal band from Sweden Seventh Wonder - The Great Escape Do you have the same producer or what?
Seventh Wonder, tremendous band and influence! ❤️ Actually, it's funny, but it was pure coincidence. We named our band after "The 7th Dimension" which is a radio slot for science fiction, fantasy and horror stories, since we had a lot of fictional storytelling within our songs and we thought it also fit our sound. But I'll share some trivia with you! If we go back a bit more than 10 years ago, we were just kids who had just gotten started. We had then discovered Seventh Wonder shortly after coming up with our own band name. I then saw that Andreas Blomqvist in SW were looking for Iron Maiden tickets and I was look for somebody to whom I could sell mine. So I wrote to him on Facebook, we met up, he got my Maiden ticket and I then explained that I had a new band called Seventh Dimension. And since we were both prog bands from Stockholm, I asked for his blessing to continue using "Seventh" in our name, to which Andreas gladly gave his blessing. / Luca

Right now we're also at a point in our career where we have the possibility to be more active than ever before, so we are planning to tour some more and we're excited to see where that might lead! I like the song. But I feel you guys are a little TOO influenced by Dream Theater. If someone told me this was an old DT song, I would believe them, no questions asked. But wheb you sound that much like another band most people will hear you and probably just go back to listening to that band. If you want to break out, you have to do something different from everyone else. Haken is a great example of a band that is clearly influenced by DT, but very much a different band. I haven't listened to any of your other music. So if this doesn't apply to your other songs, please disregard. But if it does, I hope you start to put out music that sounds less like them and more like you. Because we need more badass prog bands to listen to.
I would think it's because you can add so many layers to the music with it. If I think about it, why mention European? Dream Theater, and Symphony X are heavy on keyboards too, for example.
@@AnthonyBerlin There are many european bands like that. They're giving more emphasis on the prog side, than the metal one and DT are certainly one of their main influences. However, through the years there have been many, which deviated from quite a bit to a lot, from all that. Bands like Threshold, Freak Kitchen, Terra Odium, Horizon's End, Sunburst, Until Rain, Pathosray, Sun Caged, Mekong Delta, Eldritch, Time Machine, Jesters March, Sieges Even, Pain Of Salvation, Depressive Age, Soul Cages, Mayfair, etc

Why are European progressive metal bands so heavy on the keyboards?
I would think it's because you can add so many layers to the music with it. If I think about it, why mention European? Dream Theater, and Symphony X are heavy on keyboards too, for example.
Adds more things to explore sonically. It's much like why symphony orchestras consist of 80+ instruments, I'd say.
