2:27 i don't think that's a universal standard yet - manufacturers like to slap on less symbols for some reason - best to check PC specs.
Like my spec supports PD+DP but only has D symbol next to the port.
Or if something has evolved in the last 2 years like you said maybe they always support Data at least then they may have omit the Ss symbol

Nice video. Well done. I am having a problem with DP over USB 2. My monitor keeps checking for a connection when sleeping. It sleeps for a second then turns on looking for a connection. Could the monitor seeing the power over USB turn on the monitor?
Are there universal docking stations with a power button? I want to dock my laptop under my desk and use the docking to start it.

Is USB-C docking fast enough and wont have delay or better go with thunderbolt 3 docking station but alot more expensive. Ill use it to connect my gaming laptop to a monitor and all peripherals and will mainly be used for gaming.
So I bought the adapter before seeing this video and yea it def seems like it won't pick it up. Problem is I already have two HDMI/VGA monitors so is my on option a different docking station?

You mentioned the two USB-C on the back do not support video, but you did not mention the one on the front. Does that one support video? I have a Macbook with a single USB-C and a Wacom Cintiq monitor with a USB-C cable. Do you know of any way to connect this pen monitor to my Mac and still keep power connected to my Mac? I have been looking for years and cannot find a solution.

Either one will work - although if you don't plan to use it at your desk it's best to leave it in the dock.

I have a laptop Lenovo T450 which has 3 USB traditional SS ports, ehich one of them provides charge, my question is: Is it possible to connect a Dock WD15 (Dell) with a USB-Type C female adapter to attach the cable from the dock and the other side of the adapter has a traditional USB cable to connect to one of my Laptop ports?, i would like to use the LAN, 2x Monitors and Mouse over this Dock. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Do you happen to know if the laptop predator helios 300 have the ability to use the type usb port to connect a monitor? Since it only have a hmdi port and no vga ports.

I would assume that most USB C cables can also do power but for relatively low power. like for phones and tablets

Question - if the laptop has a discrete GPU in addition to the integrated GPU, which one is in use on the external monitors via usb-c? To rephrase, will gaming performance be the same on the external monitor and the built-in monitor?

It will work along with how your laptop normally switches between discrete and on board graphics. Generally I've found laptops will switch to the GPU once plugged in but every one of them tends to behave differently.

Would this be compatible with cell phones with a type-c port? They obviously support power and data, and maaaaybe alternate mode? Would love to be able to dock my phone into a gigabit network port and usb hub like this.

To make sure I understand you correctly, you are saying if my usb-c is data transfer only I can't adapt that to hdmi? I'm not as familiar with usb-c and wanted to see what my chances were of finding a hub to run 2 external ssd's and a 2nd external monitor

Apple laptops can also display two individual screens, you just have to uncheck mirror display

This dock does provide power delivery. But not every laptop supports it.

That's not HDMI it's DisplayPort

You mention a "display port and an HDMI port?" I didn't see you plug those 2 HDMI monitors into which of those docking station ports still using what I assume are 2 different cables connected to the back of the docking station and running to each (similar?) monitor. Simple but you did not explain the docking station has 2 different display out ports. Luckily my docking station has 2 HDMI and 2 DP++ out ports.

This worked great until I was forced into a Windows 10 system update... now my laptop isn't compatible with this docking station. It's been a common problem with other users recently.
