Not sure about the specific setup mentioned in this video, but most modern laptops I've used when you set them up properly (to shut the lid without going to sleep) with the lid shut they automatically "disconnect" the built in monitor, meaning you can leave the monitors in a Triple monitor setup, shut the lid, and still use the docked monitors without having to manually configure "Duplicate desktop on 1 and 2". Open laptop, triple monitor, Close laptop, Dual monitor.
Would highly recommend this for the audio interface as it beats the stock audio sockets on pc or laptop and removes line noise from say a condenser mic as its fed in via USB. Solved a lot of problems for me :)

Lon, this post is off topic for this video, but how user friendly is you home set up. I’m wanting to reduce my cable dependence but my wife struggles with switching inputs. We use the Apple TV to stream Netflix and such but I need to get things simple. We tried HULU Live but it’s not like cable and she was not happy. I’m hoping our next tv will have most of these apps built in but for older people cutting the cord is harder. But it’s getting easier but maybe too late for us folks in our 70s. I can do it but it’s no good if the wife can’t use it easily. Thanks
How would I connect three (3) HDMI monitors to this usb dock. Obviously there is one HDMI port which can be connected to 1 monitor. And the DVI port can be converted to HDMI using an DVI to HDMI adapter. How can the 3rd monitor be connected.
I purchased one if these and am (was) running 2 extra monitors off my PC with windows 10. Didn't last six months. I was hoping it would last a bit longer for the $198. Not impressed. Tried reinstalling the driver. The cursor is visible on the screens but no duplication or graphics. Even when I try to identify the extra screens , nothing. Unplugged everything and started from scratch, still nothing. I'm not fond of throwing money away but I have with this. The extra screens are showing on my PC but no functionality. I have checked the screens by plugging individually into my PC , They are working ok. When I find the receipt it's going back.
I have a USB C connector on my laptop but it's only USB 3 powered as far as I can tell. In the documentation it does suggest that you can charge the laptop from this port. Would this dock do that?

Short of connecting my laptop to more than 1 monitor, which I can do just as easily by plugging directly into my laptop, I dont see how this helps at all. Currently I have 2 TVs I use as monitors one is hdmi and the other is VGA compatible. I have 1 printer, never any ink, a cross the room on a desk that when I need to print/scan I pick up the laptop and directly connect it. I would be more interested if you broke it down to the basics and told non computer savvy people.

That should work - just note that the displaylink does eat up a bit of the CPU cycles but if the other two desktops are static it shouldn't impact performance too heavily.
yes you can. Go to Power & Sleep settings, > "Additional Power setting", > "Choose what closing the lid does" > "When I close the lid: choose Do nothing and then save settings. .

Any advice on what I can do or should I just wait to speak to IT?
Hi Mel Be. I came looking to troubleshoot another issue I'm having with my dock... But saw your question and figured I'd try to assist you. [If it's not too late - if it is - this reply may at least help someone else.. lol ]. I'm using a Dell universal USB 3 dock connected to my ThinkPad (L380 Yoga) and it works fine. You have to ensure the dock is powered on before connecting the dock's input USB cable to your laptop. In my case - even though I'm using different brand laptop and dock, I didn't need to install any drivers myself (it was done automatically in Windows 10). Also - ensure the dock's USB input cable is plugged into a USB 3.0 port on your laptop (...I'm assuming that's the type of cable that came with your dock and not a USB-C....the laptop USB 3 port will have a blue internal connector, or be labeled as "SS" - which stands for super speed ;)... Additionally, sometimes for some strange reason, I've also had instances where I plugged in the dock's USB to my laptop and nothing happens... I just unplug it and plug it back in.... Or try another USB 3 port. I hope some of that helps..

I did Google search on your notebook and it says one of your USB ports is 3.0 so it sounds like you can use this product (or similar)!
