Korn is not a technical band, but their creativity is outstanding.
They are technical. It's not all about playing fast and reckless like alot of bands out there. They write very good riffs and songs.
It's easy to create interesting music out of complicated, technical elements because you have more options. It's difficult to do that with simple ones: Korn did it after all. :) So yea, creativity rules!
Who cares if it sounds good
Korn Is A Classic!
Tbh watching this, I was surprised how technical some seemed. Like Here To Stay at times. Though that's from a non-guitarist's perspective.
Ball Tongue and Good God have some of my favorite KoRn riffs.
Good god reminds me of edgecrusher by fear factory
@Голдински trash is awesome man, one of my all time favourites
My fav personally is dead bodies everywhere
What kind of pickups you use
@@cjr31986 seymour duncan humbuckers
I was a huge fan of Korn and Deftones when I was a teen. I could never play their songs properly because they wrote them on 7 stringers. Now I have one and I can finally play their songs the right way.
You have to set up the guitar and detune it, right? Can't be played in 7string standard tuning
@@ArisGoD1986 yes, but I got a Jackson 7 string. The good thing about that one is that the scale length is an inch and a half longer than the standard electric guitar, so detuning is not a problem. Anything shorter than I would have to set up intonation once again.
@@Theshark15z im gonna buy soon and a luthier once tokd me in 6string even half step down tuning needs adjustments on the Truss rod and bridge cause it will buzz. I want one 7string to A standard tuning for KoRn. With a capo in second fret it becomes standard tuning B-E-A etc
Ever heard of a baritone... 😂
@@Theshark15z I made the mistake of not researching down tuning much... I got an RG7421 without knowing about the scale length... its only 25.5" still a great guitar for what I paid but I can just about get to A Standard without it sounding too bad (Had a tech set it up" but I really wish I had known haha I tried drop G and it was just a mess.
That "here to stay riff" though. Still one of my fav! Never forget hearing that shit as a kid. Had never heard something so heavy.
Saaaame
I'm so glad you actually did this in A standard instead of drop A like everyone does
Do you know if KoRn uses dropped A or standard A? I know most of the tabs are in dropped A.
@@johnt.campbell316 they're in a standard
I listen to a lot of deathcore/metalcore and Korn still have some of the most crushing riffs I’ve ever heard. They basically wrote the blueprint for the modern Chugga Chugga riffs/breakdowns we love.
Old korn is so dark and heavy, fkn love it
Anyone else hear "ARE YOU READY!!!" In they're head at 3:10
swag1FL bob Absolutely!! What a way to start an album let alone a debut album!!
swag1FL bob most deff🍻
Me
i actually screamed it but it wasnt my voice it was as if Jonathon Davis had possesed me and sang it through me ... unbelievable awesome job guy!!
ARRRRRRRRE YOU READYYYYYYYYYY
* aggressively headbangs with my whole body *
One of my all time favorite bands, each song has it's own badass element that makes it amazing
Me tooh' amazing stuff right here
Dude u did Korn some serious justice here from the haunting lead work to the heavy riffs and killer song choice, tone, nailed it! Great work!
I love this guy he makes old ass riffs sound new
Yayyy
Jamie, can you do a heaviest/best riffs for Deftones? You’d get to use a 6, 7, and 8 string!!!
Nice name
Deftones forever!
9 strings for the new album
@@anys4053 only like 2 songs use a 9 string on the new album
Here to stay is so fucking catchy musically. Drags you into that groove and never lets go.
They introduce the 7 string guitar with that chonky tone in metal in early 90's, the real pioneers
Korn have some of my favourite riffs of all time. One of my favourite bands of all time. Thank you for the Korn content. One in one band. Their longevity is incredible too. The Nothing was an AWESOME record, so was The Serenity Of Suffering.
Whenever I play my seven string, I immediately jump to Blind for no reason. It's just a slapping riff.
basically I'm saying *I CAN'T STOP PLAYING BLIND FUCK*
TRACK LIST:
00:20 - Freak On a Leash
01:05 - A.D.I.D.A.S.
01:33 - Falling Away From Me
01:59 - Thoughtless
03:02 - Blind
03:45 - Here To Stay
04:32 - Blame
Great as always! 'Head' is a brutal guitarist. Love him style. You can see how big part of Korn is when you hear his band - Love & Death. Love him! Thank you for the video! Greetings, my man! \m/
Stay brutal!
Born From The Embers head is overrated, munky is the real guitarist
Charlieee, maybe you're right. Don't know.
BG LaminatE yea I agree but munky is a beast
@@yakayakasfncgh3901 why do you think so?
StrangR Bird most people seem to forget munky even exists and to be honest I prefer him - head was at home doing meth when they wrote A.D.I.D.A.S , It’s On, and Freak on a Leash - pretty much all of their greatest hits were written by Munky (I do credit head for writing my favourite song though - predictable (has to be the demo version it’s so much better))
Great job man!!! Korn are such an awesome band... it love to see more videos with them
Finally people with more strings play some 🌾 !
Yehhhh KoRn
@@JamieSlays What effect did you use on A. D. I. D. A. S. at 1:06? Im trying to get that sound. In guitar covers, it always sounds different than on the album. But here it sounds nearly same as on the album.
Korns riff style has always been simple but incredibly distinctive well played one of favourites is the intro to Counting
Yay, you did Blame! Rock on brother! Happy Birthday! 🥳 Loved what you did with Here to Stay.
Amazing! Some of my favorite riffs and that audio production is fantastic. Keep it up!🤘🏻🙌🏻🔥
God I would pay to hear you make full Korn album instrumentals - your playing and production are so perfect.
So simple yet so amazing
My all time favorite band right there also the band that got me into metal and everything heavy I listen to. Love the video editing you did for this one xD
Sick tone mate! My favorite Korn riff is Right Now, super easy to play but so fun
@Jamie Slays awesome work!
KILLER VIDEO! I recently got into Korn's stlye of "riffing" I grew up with them! My first concert was "Follow The Leader" it instantly changed my life. Now Im 39 and learning Korn on my new 7 string! Life is peachy!

you make those riffs sounds heavier than the original ones, awesome!
SEED has some 🔥🔥🔥 riffs in it!!
Possibly your best video to date! 🤘🏻

Nice job man! And you guitar sounds sick! I would love to listen to some riffs of Korn's paradigm shift, the paradigm shift or the nothing albums! Keep riffing 🤟
Another cool vid! Loved your post editing here
Thanks! Took me ages haha
Never realized how immense their riffs are
he has the tone and gain jacked up significantly higher, but listen to guitar only tracks from korn songs man, those guitars are searing
Great selection dude! Only one is missing in my opinion, Justin. Great riff. Keep slaung

Played like this they sound like any old meh metal band, need that Korn style and edge to it, one of a kind.
Amazing stuff dude you’ve earned a sub and like bud
Thoughtless randomly popped up on my suggestions list the other day
Good selection refreshing
I’ll forgive you for not adding “Got the life” cos I’ve seen you add it in other videos. That guitar looks n sounds awesome too, great stuff man
I remember I was the only one who had a 7 string in my high school bruh where I live there's no multiple stores or anything but a small town I layaway that Ibanez rg 7 string on my own I had to work to get my first marshall combo and guitar bruh badass brings back memories that I carry my 7 and a amp playing Korn lol
Also my personal favorite KoRn riff is Faget. Such a killer riff.
noice! ive been playing blind in drop C on a 6 string since the 90's. gotta make do with what you got.🍻
I always tuned my six string like a 7 minus the high e. Muddy and floppy as shit. Nothing a thicker gauge couldn't fix.
@@BillPinkNye i do the same but i've been playing in drop/standard A tuning for a while now and mine sounds okay tbh
That enthusiasm! 😂 gr8 vid m8
Nice sound, Jamie! Pls do the tutorial video of your setup and Logic settings that you used to make this awesome guitar sounds and mixes! /Sorry if you have one..I'll check again!/
nice selection
are these riffs in standard tuning ? just got a 7 string ibanez, first video to watch :D Thanks
Amazing !
Awesome! Adidas was surprising, it seemed almost unfamiliar, like hearing it for the first time.. great guitar and tone too...
Make me bad isnt my fav song, but the prechorus is for sure my fav riff.
Hi Jamie. Killing it mate! Did you ever hear Scars of Tomorrow album Rope Tied To The Trigger? That is so under rated, and is definitely all killer no filler particularly riff wise. I'm sure you will love it, it's heavy as fook
Happy birthday bro x
As always well fucking done man
😫😫 here to stay is sooo good😫😫
Thank you
U slayed it
What pedal order are u using for these riffs.. amazing Play...
Thank u again...
3:10 ARE YOU READAYYYYYY
VERY nice! Sounds super good! (Awesome mix)
What model of Ibanez is this?
Noice. The headbang and nostalgia is real with these. :D
Sick.
I'm addicted to ur vids
Now that's fucking heavy man good job I love it!!!!!!!!!.
Jaime Slays is that a 7 string Daemoness Cimmerian? Those are amazing imo. I think Dylan is such an awesome luthier cant wait to get mine one day.
nice bro. you should do some slamming brutal death riffs :D
How do you not have more than 1 million subs?
This channel is so helpful and awesome!
Thanks Barry! I would love 100! Haha thanks for your support
That tone is amazing!! Are you playing through those monitors or plugged into an amp?
WTF man... That ADIDAS intro and riff are genius material.
Cool man was a big fan of Korn back in the day. Dig those plugs in your ears who makes them? What size?
I enjoy you brother!
Ja... , That was some killer riffs . What's it like to play a7 string . 👍🤘🤘🤘 Troy Frost troyster 😎Cool Riffs 😎cool
