When we got fine control over money, I saw a leap in self confidence. Take this with a bitty grain of salt, but paying off the house has been amazing for me. Exercise helps me too.
- i love my job (i am a kindergarden teacher) and i am good at it. When i am at work i am really, really confident because I am competent AF. - when i became a mother i first felt really insecure but now i am a mother for four years and it absolutely boosted my confidence. I know what i want and what i dont want so much better. As a single working mum you dont have much time to waste and so i have to prioritize very strictly and i dont feel sorry for that - Breaking up from a toxic relationship - getting older. I love being over 30 And the small every day things: - getting a shower and wash my hair every other day - use self-tanning-foam on my legs - getting a little make-up, jewelry and a nice outfit every day so i feel beautiful - Chose how i Spend my time wisely - i dont use any social media - i put my Phone away at 20h until the next morning and sleep from 21:30-06:00 every day - i dont skip meals EVER. I realized that i feel very weak, nervous and stressed when i am hungry
"You are the problem AND the solution." Yes! Accountability is a tough pill to swallow, but can ultimately empower us when we realize that we can replace negative habits with healthier, positive ones. Fantastic vid as always. :)
Such a pleasure to watch you navigate obstacles and mindsets that no longer serve you. This was fantastic! You might not like this, but the biggest boost of my confidence came when I deleted FB & IG from my phone. To be fair, I didn't use them to make a living so it was easier for me. As a dancer, my feed was mostly other dancers, and WOW. The comparison game was eating me up inside. I do NOT miss social media in my life, that's for sure!! xo
This year I feel like my confidence has grown during covid, I've learned not to hide behind a mask of make-up and accept what I look like bad skin and all
It's not only you, girl! We are told from a very young age, that *things* make us happy, let us make friends, get us into our dream jobs etc. (the phrase "dress for success" for example always rubbed me the wrong way, because it implies that when we're not successful, we don't have the right clothes yet). But luckily more ppl see through this capitalist agenda now and are confident for WHO THEY ARE and not for WHAT THEY OWN 🙌🏾
I've been so caught up in a depressive loop that I wasn't thinking about my future and so I didn't care about needless online spending etc. For the first time in my life though I've started to think a bit more about the life I want and stopped feeling so stuck. I know that my depression keeps me from being forward thinking and therefore I just float through living in the now, as a somewhat high functioning depressed person carrying out my job to such a degree that no one would ever question whether I was in a good mental state. That stuff is so taxing over time - being someone I am not throughout the day and only finding reprieve to be myself and sit in sadness in the evenings. On some level I thought it was okay to be in the present moment and even encouraged in certain circles. Sadly though, I find that when I just live in the present moment, I don't think and plan for my future, which keeps me stuck in the same place year after year. So I am going to try and make a conscious decision to shift things in my life because I'm really tired of feel sad and tired.
I have started doing yoga almost daily, and NOTHING has ever come close to the benefits I am experiencing from daily exercise. I FEEL great, and my hubby says I look great too. Win-win. I have learned just how important our health really is in this past year where I have experienced several losses. Thanks for another great video! Happy Canada Day too!
After having my kids I became extremely depressed. I was sleep deprived and no longer recognized the woman in the mirror. I felt so lost and everything I had was put into my husband and kids. I wasn’t till I realized that I needed to start doing something for me that things finally changed…sadly this took three years to realize. Now I wake up at 5am to have a HOT cup of coffee uninterrupted (yes hot coffee mommy goals for sure) and I workout. This is my me time and then I am able to to focus the rest of me to my family. I also should add that I won’t work out cause I hate my body I work out cause I love it and all that it has done for me. Just by changing this narrative change my whole mindset.
For me it is my recent weight loss ... This winter I began letting myself go. Lots of food, lots of shopping, yolo style. I gained about 9 kilos. Spent looooots of money. And then I discovered intermittent fasting, which I love and became my new life style for ever. I lost the weight, worked out, went back into shape 🌟 Yeahhh. And now, besides maintaining my weight, I want to get balance in my finances too. And i beleive the fasting experience/training will help a lot .................. 🌀
OMG!!! I just journaled ALL of these things last night. I went through all my subscriptions today and unsubscribed from anything fashion related. The first video I chose to watch after doing that was this video. How serendipitous. I love it when that happens. Thanks for the reinforcement.
I love these points. And I relate. One simple way that I've gotten confident is when I started to actually wear the things I love--aka geeky/book-related graphic tees. Its something small, but I love my books/fandoms, and wearing kinda subtle references to them just makes my heart happy. I'm trying to learn more about finance before I start university again in August and its helped. This last year has been a ridiculous amount of impulse spending for a serotonin boost that I have a really unbalanced relationship with money. But I've been getting better slowly since deciding to try and cut back on impulse and look at why I am bringing something new into my life
First things I do when I get up is febreze my bed, check for what laundry needs doing, see if trash/recycling needs taking out. I do this 'every day' first thing. My yard is pretty big so I split it up into 'mowing sections.' Some days after my initial 'wake up' routine, I either mow the lawn or take the dogs on a walk down near the waterfront (and dump the recycling at the town dump). P.S. I work afternoons to evening so that's why I'm able to do this before work. On a Saturday, I'll head to the small city that's about 45 minutes away, write some poetry in the coffee shop there, walk my dogs and then head to the arts bar there to hang with the 'community.' I also live with a relative 'currently' so it's nice to have that social 'negotiation,' it also helps with my 'confidence.' Being responsible for 'others' and taking care of a 'house' can really help with your self confidence I've found. Also, I keep a permanent list of all my regular tasks and upcoming events, etc. Confidence is not about 'self-focus' but more about 'structure' and 'responsibility.'
This was very helpful for me, I want to change carriers and work as an illustrator, but I keep blaming my children and the lack of time but the truth is that I avoid it for fear of failure.
Your channel is "it" for me. Thank you for your help and insight. Watching you is calming and motivational, a bright spot in my day. When I watch, I zoom in on the books you're reading and the journals you're using. I'd love access to a comprehensive list of those that you find the most helpful/enjoyable! :)
Totally agree on the points about exercising, skincare, and abiding by the rules I've set for myself. I've also found that sticking to a set of values made me really like myself (for me it's being persistent, helping others if it doesn't cost me anything, and fact-checking). It's really helped me grow into my own in my social life as well as my personal life
I suffered as well from low self-confidence! I can relate so much with you! I wake up now! I am confident at the right level, I don't want to seem arrogant either! Great video Christina!
Amazing video, Christina! Thank you for being and keeping it real and opening up about your confidence with the rest of us! You’re definitely not alone and your reflections and realizations really resonate with me too. Very eye-opening! Love your videos!
‘You are the problem and the solution’ Yes! Preach Christina 😍 oh I love this! Here’s to curating the lives we want. Love your authenticity and your message. Awesome content. Recommended you to a friend the other day and she messaged me to thank me as she’s getting loads out of your videos.
Thank you for this thoughtful list. I feel more confident when I'm not procrastinating 😂 and when I don't eat seed oils, wheat or sugar (they mentally bring me down, or just make me feel sick). I need to give more consideration to my YOLO habits versus what I really want. Edit: commented too soon. I find skincare is not as skin clearing as much as diet is. Check out the seed oil controversy. I don't eat them anymore or put them on my skin.
Man the way you guys in the US/Canada can go into such debt for studying is so messed up... What a system! University in Germany is mostly free and if you need support from the government you can get 400 to 600 Euro a month and have to repay only half of what you received and also only 10.000 Euro max., I have to pay back 7.000 although I received 14.000 for example, and someone who received 22.000 would only have to pay back 10.000. We're very lucky here...
Canada is definitely much much better than the US costs (I know professors from the US that are still paying off their student loans), but even in Canada the costs definitely added up over time
Aren't we getting close to your debt free goal date? I hope everything is going well there and I can't wait to hear an update. I feel really invested in your money journey! Even if you haven't made it exactly to the date I think what you've done is awesome 😎
When i was growing up and started feeling insecure for x, y, z I would look at myself in the mirror everyday and compliment those x,y and z Which of course sounds simple but did help me to the point whwre people would judge me or make fun of me for these features and that would not change how i felt about myself
Hiiiiii! I started watching your videos recently and I've INHALED them. I really love your relatability, how you normalise things we've been hiding and just your overall kind vibe. Thanks so much you've really inspired me to do my own low buy and actually take things into my own hands. Love your channel
Love this video because it rings so true for me now. But for many years I lacked confidence and had a very low opinion of myself. Learning to believe in myself and affirm my worth is an ongoing journey and at times I still struggle. You have helped me through those low points. Your videos have also supported my personal growth.. Thanks again, Christina.
Your channel has helped me tremendously regarding my low buy year and saving for an emergency fund. Thank you for your transparency and articulating the very thing I have been trying to pinpoint in my own journey :)
Such an amazing video Christina! Finding your channel this past year has made a huge difference in my life for the better and the way I'm viewing money and minimalism thank you so much💗
I just love your content, Christina! I feel motivated and inspired to do better by your journey to better your life by getting out of debt!! Keep up the good work, you're changing lives here.

On a nap last week, i dreamt that in the afternoon (in Germany) i decided to call you (you had your Number in your UA-cam info). You picked up, really tired and i excused myself a thousand times because in my dreams it was middle of the night in canada 😅 we ended the call and i was totally embarassed after this. I still think of it 😅
I don't think you need to be sceptical about therapy and meditation because it's been scientifically proved that those practices work 😊 though it's also very scientific of you to question everything haha!
thank you! it's pretty crispy - hair salons in Toronto JUST re-opened today after being closed since Nov 2020. So I'm in the "cut it off" phase too, theen I'm sure I'll want it long again haha
Why do you think you were skeptical of mindfulness and therapy? Was it just not knowing enough about them? I'm curious, because I wonder if sometimes these things are presented in a sensationalized or strange way in pop culture when they actually have robust research evidence behind them.
I think it was more of my stubborn stoicism mixed with my judgements on the "woo woo"-ness of some forms of meditation etc. Actually doing it and being open to it now, I realize it's not that at all!
It was for pharmacy school and I am a pharmacist, so yes! I had a sh*t attitude around money and my debt for years. That’s what the disconnect was for me ❤️
What are some ways you’ve built your self confidence?
Yes. The brows is a most for me, too.
If it boost your confidence taking 3 minutes to fill in your brows, I don’t see it as superficial.
I am a Catholic so prayer, daily examination of conscience and the sacrament of reconciliation has really helped me.
When we got fine control over money, I saw a leap in self confidence. Take this with a bitty grain of salt, but paying off the house has been amazing for me. Exercise helps me too.
Meditation and this way realizing Im more than my body 💕 and also no one cares
