i like mustangs, but guess what, i also like this camaro....but theres more, im even a fan of the challenger! what a concept! i like all cars. People loyal to just one car are idiots haha. Its so fun seeing them bicker in their respective forums. Grow up.
+Todd Ison haha im not sure i get your reference to a prius when this is a muscle car video. But i did consider getting a Prius C as a DD, BUT i did the math over and over and couldnt justify paying so much to save gas. Its like an oxymoron.
I've been a follower of motorweek for years, but one thing I've noticed is it seems with these reviewers all cars are great and there's hardly ever any criticism, so all cars are great, and nothing is ever wrong with any car. Please tell me not just the good, and start with the bad first, that way you can work your way up.
it actually outperformed the M4 as well on motorTrend in every department...GM has finally done it...i personally prefer the older 2010-2013 look though...it is a mean and raw look befitting a Camaro.
Deejay Core theres just so many butthurt Mustang fanboys who cant except the Camaro has left the muscle segment and has finally joined with most European sports car but at a fraction of the cost. I honestly didnt really like the Camaro till this new generation came out but even before when rumors where afloat i was still skeptical
its simply transcended the genre, its left the mustang and Challenger behind and is now going had to head with the M4, ATS V, and C63. with an interior better than the mustangs, better handling closer to the GT350 than the GT, and better acceleration than the SRT 392 Challenger.
+justin bouche well, c63 and M4 sure are second fiddle to the new Camaro, it is really that good. the previous gen C63 at least had a great engine in it, while the rest pretty much sucked hard, (sluggish transmission, grandpa-car chassis, buttery suspension and cheap as hell overall quality) the new c63 has to make due with that lousy 3.9 bi-turbo, that is done by twinning the 2 liter turbo found in the A45 amgs.
In my opinion: Camaro SS wins: Engine (by a hair), styling, track performance Mustang GT wins: Interior design, seating position, visibility Both cars are really kick ass machines for the money, though. The real winner is the American muscle car buyer...
I never thought I'd want to own an American car, let along a Chevy Camaro, but the all-around performance and sophistication for the price is unbeatable. The so called poor visibility is completely blown out of proportion. Adjust your seat and mirrors properly and you can clearly see what's going on around you. I had no issues driving one of these on the highway and in the city. If you want a panoramic view of the world to go sightseeing, then buy an RV.
Not great is one thing, but from the hyperbole tossed around by people who likely never driven one, you'd think the top of the doors was at eye level and there was no back window. Meanwhile, I've driven plenty of vehicles that no-one complains about but are certainly no better, if not worse. Ever looked out the back of a Jeep Wranger, with its spare tire, wiper motor and head rests blocking much of the view? How about a Kia Sorento? Factory tint plus huge headrests everywhere and the B pillar right next to my head. Say your prayers if you have to change lanes or back up. And all they give you is this crappy little 4" screen for the backup camera.
Long time Mustang guy here, taking delivery of my 2016 Mosaic black 2SS 6 speed next week. I had a 2006 GTO as a divorce present to myself a few years ago, sold to a friend to buy a house, now time for a new toy. i LOVE the Shelby but the GT gives up too much to the Camaro.
The only glass I found hard to see out of was the rear windows. If you take the time to adjust the seat and mirrors correctly, you shouldn't have any problem seeing over the dashboard. I'm 6'1 and my SS fits me like a glove. The journalists (I think it was C&D, maybe Motor Trend) whining about the HVAC vents only cooling the shifter probably didn't take the time to realize those are adjustable too. People will have their opinions though, although in this day and age, some people just tend to more and more share other people's opinions without any first hand experience
I agree with you that many people just report other's people opinions, but the issue with the HVAC vents is real. I have a 2016 SS and I find it difficult to find a position for the vents where they are not hitting some part of your body, which is not a good thing on long trips. The best you can do is to turn them against the shifter but then they will hit your hand when you are shifting... Not a big deal and not something that will make or break your purchase decisions, but it's real. I solved the issue buying a convertible and driving it always with the top down and the AC off, LOL. This also solved any visibility issue, which is the next big thing that everyone complains about, when testing Camaros :-)
congrats on the convertible! I got the coupe myself, and I turned the vent all the way over towards me, cause I got the 1SS and those cloth seats like to hold in all my body heat, and if it's a hot day its twice as bad. That's the only reason I regret not spending the extra 5k to get the ventilated seats. The shifter knob still gets cold though, which, like you, I honestly don't mind
Hard to get a good feel for a car when you drive it only for an hour or less takes about a week in different situations to really get the feel of any vehicle
Still don't get the stamens that you can't see out of these vehicles. I see amazingly well. The long windows allow me to see everything next to me. I'm 6 1" though. I felt I couldn't see well out of the Mustang when I test drove it.
+bliglum its funny how most videos now try to compare a mustang gt to a 2016 v6 camaro....lol With different level's of performance. The new camaro beats the mustang gt so easily, thats why there hasn't been much vids on it. And I love it...lol Can't believe that the new Camaro 16 ss is in the bmw m4 range.
Saad Qureshi Gotta say, with the new C7 vette finally featuring an interior befitting it's price, the new Camaro blowing away it's contemporaries. And Cadillac being the only impressive (imho) premium American brand, GM has been slamming lately!
Acura NSX, BMW 2002, Datsun Z-series..the list goes on. Visibility is a real "drivers" issue. It sucks driving a coffin which is literally what the new camaro feels like.
It hasn't been put in a production vehicle yet so horsepower ratings aren't official yet. GM anticipates "up to 400HP" but of course it can easily be detuned a bit for this function so it doesn't threaten the V8 for performance superiority. This is all wishful thinking though, the 3.0T is not likely to migrate outside the Cadillac line. I'd settle for a detuned 3.6T instead,
DroverChicago they won't do that, their mid level would be a couple bolt ons and a tune away from stomping their v8 models, can't have that internal competition lol
I really like the new Camaro and own the earlier platform but let's be real. Performance aside, no one looking to purchase an M4 or similar car is going to cross shop the Camaro. I knew when I modded my car and my old Fox that even though both were faster then most cars they'd encounter, they were still not as lux, didn't have the interior quality or the cache of the cars they might outrun. It was fun to watch them recede rapidly in the mirror, but I knew if I were given the choice even I would prefer the more expensive car. My cars are both loud, crude barbarian handfuls (which was my intent). Apparently this new SS is not, but still, the Corvette can chase the super cars, the Camaro will always fight the Mustang and (type name of latest Chry-co muscle car here).
looks like a lot of fun. HATE that electronic dash, all of them on every car. Old School mechanical gauges would be a lot classier than that Las Vegas style freak show of flashing neon lights.
Let's see what America comes up with for the next camaro considering this model was designed and tested in Australia we had them getting around out here disguised in left hand drive being evaluated for export loooong before America turned the key on one. Hence the reason they handle so well is the thousands of hours of suspension testing carried out at Holden's test facility being subjected to tests and roads never encountered in the good old usa
Nice!!!! I'm waiting for the 1LE myself. I'm waiting to see how much more it will cost than a base SS. If it isn't too much, I'll go with the 1LE myself. Only difference is that I'm keeping my stang and handing it down to the wife. This car already dominates the competition. Man, 1LE will be a monster.
+gentlemonsterkennels My daughter wants mine, but I think it's too much power for a first car and I'm going nuts trying not teach her how to drive a manual shift.
labigq Well, just depends on how responsible she is. But if it doesn't have IRS, it would probably be better for her to get a car that handles better for when it rains.
yeah i really like the new SS Camaro, i would like to see Mustang 6cly vs Camaro 6cyl, also SS Camaro vs all 3 Mustangs GT, 350GT, and 350GT R, maybe a stock Corvette in there too base model, Dodge Challenger the SRT 485 hp one. track time and 0-60, and 1/4 mile,... maybe i am asking to much :))))
Corvette is a different type of car and not in this class. It's a sports car and these are muscle cars. These cars are getting so good that the distinctions are fading, but they are still there.
well the reason i put the vette in there is because it's 55k for the base model and the GT350R is 62k base. i really like the new vette and if it outperforms the GT350R there is no reason to consider it.
The SS vs the GT, the 1LE vs the GT350, the Z28 vs the GT350R, and the ZL1 vs the GT500.Not sure how the FIATS fit in there, but Chevy will win almost everything between the Camaros, and Stangs, with exception of the GT500 will probably be quicker in a straight line.
Memo to the general, you,ve milked that 1967-69 body style for all it,s worth, try 70-81, also see about making real bow tie blocks again, camaros ,and vettes run weak without them.
Oh really, yeah thats a little bit more expensive but 4k isn't terrible. Probably can wait until the hype dies down, so the prices can come down to msrp
if that Frankenstein does 0 60 in 4 secs how come they dont show it?it has the center screen that times it ,,just because gm says it does doesnt mean it happen.
Same thing happened to the 2016 Civics. Factory forgot to put the piston rings in and it was locking engines up. Stuff happens, doesn't make it a bad car overall.
Only if you're a douche. I'd really love to see all you crying people drive something like a Lamborghini or Ferrari. Then you'll learn what poor visibility really is. If visibility was such a problem in the 5th and 6th gen Camaro's, then there would literally be accidents all the time, but there's not.
I owned a 2012 and the visibility only bothered me when parking because you can't see the front nose of the car so it's hard to know where you are, plus making any kind of maneuver to the right was a roll of the dice because of the massive blind spot, but other than that I didn't really have much of an issue driving it. The small windows actually made it feel so cool because you felt incognito to a degree and it feels amazing to drive.
+jason nystrom Of course. But that means a regular driver can pull mid 5 second rips or so. Which is what the pro's were pulling not even 10 years ago.
+Tom Jones lol dude this guy doesn't know what he's talking about, I bet as long as you live around sea level you'd get closer to 4 seconds than you think.
I don't think so! It's the same typical GM crap. It will be a rattle trap that's leaks oil in 50k miles...Fords are much better built! However, the Camaro is fast!
+rhino250r agree, in term of reliability ford is (usually) better but for the design i really love this new camaro over the new mustang.. much more handsome imho
The 4K price difference does not justify being .4 seconds to 60 faster than the stang. So no this does not "blow away" the mustang with performance unless you want to match the price then it would.
FivepointohJerry says the mustang guy lmao jk id probably take the 5.0 over a 5/6 gen Camaro but anything older and I'm all for gm, thanks to the almighty ls lmao, bolt ons and gears and my 99 ls1 car has no trouble with a stock/ lightly modded 5.0s 😉
+PeePee2000 In that case why did you understate what you just said by saying it's an "apples to oranges" comparison when you obviously have a have a different opinion now?
There is more to driving than straight line speed . I'd like to see a Mustang and a Camaro on a track and see which one crosses the line first. ( *spoiler alert* The Mustang would win)
37 grand for that much performance is still a fucking steal, too bad GM was too stupid to fix the window visability issue (if anything they made it worse with the 6th gen) otherwise they would have outsold the mustang easily.
thing is, it understeers....suddenly. to small front tires and to small front rotors. The old ZL1 feels more confident in fast curves. It may be faster than the Mustang but the Mustang has wider front tires and bigger front rotors with a more neutral settting ? could be more confident to a average driver! C7 with Z51package is the way to go.
+kubanskiloewe Now you're talking about $37k vs. $60k. And you're the only person I've ever seen that says the Camaro understeers, so I'm inclined to not believe you.
you act as if the camaro hasn't been getting corvette engines for years....if anything ford should see what's coming and have an answer waiting everytime
Who the hell do you have driving that power slides then drills the brakes and back to the power slide. It’s ridiculous lmao why tf. Dude can’t drive man
@Lone Wolf I like all the f body camaros. But in all honesty I was quoting an old motorweek episode on YT. They compare 84 or 85 models (mustang, firebird, and camaro). Definitely check it out. Its hilarious
$4k over a Mustang??? Hell no, I'll take a Mustang over this garbage with a button for an e-brake. Or better yet, I'll take the Challenger with the Scat Pack which looks hotter than either of these and is more of a real hot rod and you can comfortably fit 4 adults in it.
+Mark Wright Lamborghini used to make tractors as well. I can't think of any tempermental Lambos I don't like. At least the Camaro will be cheaper to fix even if it is just as unreliable.
I have several cars. I own a few muscle cars that never see rain (Ford & GM) but my daily drivers since college have always been Hondas. I have no bias against any marque. In fact, I consider myself a car guy but I harbor no illusions that my American cars are more reliable than my Hondas. If I did, experience has taught me otherwise.
Wade America had yet to build a successful and dynamic car. All the good US carscare based on European platforms. You Yanks are really deluded. The first and last GT40 both developed in the UK.
+Mark Wright Okay, so if you cant beat them, join them! Whats the problem with having help making a great car instead of continuing to make poor quality vehicles? I dont see the problem with a UK or elsewhere designed chassis. To be a prick, i could say all things ford or gm owned fund all your UK designed chassis and vehicles. Things such as Land Rover and Jaguar wouldnt be around anymore without Ford's Large generous wallet. Who cares who makes a car, if its a good finished product, who cares?
+Mark Wright The alpha platform this Camaro uses is an American platform you old dumb fat fuck LMAO!!!! Not to mention the corvette and viper platforms are also American that destroys about every single overpriced euro-trash production sports, exotic, and hyper cars around the track....
Had mine for 7 years now
Wonderfully balanced car even stock
I've upgraded mine quite a bit
Supercharger
Coilovers
Wheels/tires

agree with everything u said but the challenger lol
Exactly this! Why can't you just like them all? Every brand makes at least one or two cars that are cool.
Hurts to admit it as 5th gen owner and I love my 5th gen to death but these look sooooo good

I didn't like the way it looked until I saw it in real life, then I realized how cool it looked and now I want one.
Jesus. If the standard car can out run a BMW M4, then both the Z/28 and ZL1 will just be unstoppable
+Clayton Cortina Can't wait!
yep!
it actually outperformed the M4 as well on motorTrend in every department...GM has finally done it...i personally prefer the older 2010-2013 look though...it is a mean and raw look befitting a Camaro.

unless they find a plan...
In late 2021 used 2SS cars are going for over $40k
its simply transcended the genre, its left the mustang and Challenger behind and is now going had to head with the M4, ATS V, and C63. with an interior better than the mustangs, better handling closer to the GT350 than the GT, and better acceleration than the SRT 392 Challenger.

always the same boring shit....... GO AWAY......

Hey! I ran my 17 1SS there with the Porsche club a few months back. Love that place!
In my opinion:
Camaro SS wins: Engine (by a hair), styling, track performance
Mustang GT wins: Interior design, seating position, visibility
Both cars are really kick ass machines for the money, though. The real winner is the American muscle car buyer...
Agree
Mustang wins interior design? Surely you can't be for real!!!
all around performance is considerably better in the camaro
I like the SS interior except for that gauge pod that sticks up way higher than the rest of the dash line...
+LoveBandit1000 I agree I love the camaros interior and the features offered lol but they didn't need gauge pods to be so pronounced
Never paid much attention to the silver paint until this video. looks great, especially the rear quarter

More of an import guy.. But I must give credit where credit is due! M4 level performance at about half the price is pretty impressive!

+datto240z I'll name twice as many with bad visibility than you can ever name with good.
Why does everybody compare American cars to the M4? BMW makes the most over-rated, over-priced, low quality vehicles in the world.
OFFRD over-rated ( lately)over-priced, definitely but certainly not low quality.
I may trade my bmw for one of these.
OFFRD because the hp and the handling are simullar
BMW's downfall is because they try to fill too many niches with too many products that nobody really needs
Because the M4 is objectively an incredible performance coupe that has been unmatched by something in this price range
Best looking revamped Camero of the 2000s
I've read a Motor Trend magazine and this CAMARO beats the BMW M4! Don't believe me? I've read their issue.
Nice tank. What, no turret?
bout goddam time yall got a 2016
I loved the Camaro, but it looks great in Star Silver! BTW, the dashboard vents are placed too low!
Was the check engine light on already lol
6th gen Camaro is the best HotRod until the C7 ZR1 Corvette came
Ditch the 2.0T, let the V6 serve as the base motor, and stick the 3.0T 6 in there as the mid-range model.
doesn't that engine produce north of 400 hp?
It hasn't been put in a production vehicle yet so horsepower ratings aren't official yet.
"you,ve"
Stop
I like it except the rear lights
Exactly.
under 40k for a serious coupe, not too bad at all. THey are growing on me
+MrChad97Z Yeah 2SS, a 1SS has the same performance as the 2SS. Still under 40k.
Oh really, yeah thats a little bit more expensive but 4k isn't terrible. Probably can wait until the hype dies down, so the prices can come down to msrp
nice
if that Frankenstein does 0 60 in 4 secs how come they dont show it?it has the center screen that times it ,,just because gm says it does doesnt mean it happen.
UA-cam search 2016 Camaro SS 0-60, there's plenty of owners busting 3.7-4.0 secs already
+Gabriel Tapia I think they must have tested it down hill in a hurricane.
+Daehawk think you're a hater
What the hell is the driver doing at 2:48 ?? Left foot brake drift drive ??
it just came out and the engine has a recall
Same thing happened to the 2016 Civics. Factory forgot to put the piston rings in and it was locking engines up. Stuff happens, doesn't make it a bad car overall.
Nice but I'd still choose the Mustang :)
Agreed
+E. J. Thomas I'll keep my mustang. The Camaro is ugly.
Same
I'm keeping my mustang and buying one of these. Performance wise, the stang can't touch the new SS.
totaly agree
Omg I hate having poor visibility out of the the car makes driving in the city such a pain in the ass
+1LE Camaro The Italians always said: "What is behind you is not important."
+1LE Camaro agreed! I own a 2SS 1LE.
I owned a 2012 and the visibility only bothered me when parking because you can't see the front nose of the car so it's hard to know where you are, plus making any kind of maneuver to the right was a roll of the dice because of the massive blind spot, but other than that I didn't really have much of an issue driving it. The small windows actually made it feel so cool because you felt incognito to a degree and it feels amazing to drive.
pussy
4sec 0-60 on a perfect day with a perfect driver lol. I Do like it tho.
+jason nystrom
Of course. But that means a regular driver can pull mid 5 second rips or so. Which is what the pro's were pulling not even 10 years ago.
+Tom Jones lol dude this guy doesn't know what he's talking about, I bet as long as you live around sea level you'd get closer to 4 seconds than you think.
Actually the A8 is under 4 secs.
I prefer camaro 2013 with better look & better rear lights
This driver ain't no Chris Harris
why do they always say "corvette ls3" or "corvette lt1".
it's not like corvette has exclusive rights to these engines.
cnc7556 because that's where they always got their beginnings, gm puts the latest into their flagship performer
Silver without stripes on Camaro makes it look like a Airport rental car
And??????
And it still looks good
@@keithlabarrie3098 as long as you don't have to see out of it
much much more handsome than the mustang
I don't think so! It's the same typical GM crap. It will be a rattle trap that's leaks oil in 50k miles...Fords are much better built! However, the Camaro is fast!
+rhino250r agree, in term of reliability ford is (usually) better but for the design i really love this new camaro over the new mustang.. much more handsome imho
+bimosalexandres both you are wrong about reliability by a long shot....squeaks I'll give you lmao but reliability?
very
The 4K price difference does not justify being .4 seconds to 60 faster than the stang. So no this does not "blow away" the mustang with performance unless you want to match the price then it would.
The Camaro blows away the performance of the Mustang in every way. By the looks of the reviews, 4k is definitely worth it
You get a lot more than .4 seconds. It beats the mustang at EVERYTHING, and has more standard equipment.
The Mustang GT350R got the Drivers Choice Award for best performance car... just saying
Awwww, Did someone get their feelings hurt? I just stated a single fact and here you are insulting my intelligence.
+PeePee2000 In that case why did you understate what you just said by saying it's an "apples to oranges" comparison when you obviously have a have a different opinion now?
+Garrett Lane (cough, cough) Zl1, 1LE (cough, cough) Just saying the SS smokes the GT is respected class competitor.
There is more to driving than straight line speed . I'd like to see a Mustang and a Camaro on a track and see which one crosses the line first. ( *spoiler alert* The Mustang would win)
+Garrett Lane no it doesn't man...what's wrong with you
So eight speed is under 4 seconds expressive..
Vernon Price
i´m not the only.....look some test drivers or read about it. It has the tendency to understeer.
kubanskiloewe I have read about it. I read all the articles I can find about it, and all the video reviews. None so far have mentioned understeer.
Vernon Price
search youtube for that mule crash and i think randy pobst said it too when he drove it on track.
kubanskiloewe Are you talking about a preproduction test mule, and not a production car? Because those are two very different things.
Wow almost a second quicker and 6mph faster
So gm had to put a corvette engine on the new ss so it can beat the mustang.. Not bad thoo.. Me like it
you act as if the camaro hasn't been getting corvette engines for years....if anything ford should see what's coming and have an answer waiting everytime
GM has used the Vette engine in the Camaro since the Camaro came out in 1967. And has always beat the mustang.
красивая
4 seconds flat
Bad visibility is was over rated....its like fake News.
Nice car but after my experience with a 2002 ss i decided i will not buy another camaro ever again! Lol
Did you really just compare a 2002 Camaro with a current one? That's laughable.
you just said it am comparing a camaro to a camaro/a car made by the same manufacturer does it click?
Every manufacturer has stepped up there game since 2002, especially GM. Try the new one out, I doubt you will feel the same way afterward.
carlos hernandez what, don't like to go fast? F bodies are great cars as long as you can get past the squeaks and rattles
Who the hell do you have driving that power slides then drills the brakes and back to the power slide. It’s ridiculous lmao why tf. Dude can’t drive man
4 flat
It looks better in Nightfall Gray Metallic
D to the F to the I...
I'd rather eat worms than drive a Chevy!
Salty says the guy with a dusty old subie lol
@Lone Wolf I like all the f body camaros. But in all honesty I was quoting an old motorweek episode on YT. They compare 84 or 85 models (mustang, firebird, and camaro). Definitely check it out. Its hilarious
looks like its lifted...
+zoemayne I was thinking it looked awfully high up.
I'm just not a fan of that look.
It looks like it's trying to compensate... I'll stick with older cars.
Too expensive.
i am not liking this new design...looks like a magikarp on wheels
Are you on crack?
Mr Random Reviews wtf are you talking about lmao stick to your Pokémon little boy 😂
karp karp karp
It is somewhat ugly
Not more refined and track ready than the GT at all. I drove both. The 2015+ Stang is more neutral.
Sooo Strong... umm. Engine Light = WTF!!!!
$4k over a Mustang??? Hell no, I'll take a Mustang over this garbage with a button for an e-brake. Or better yet, I'll take the Challenger with the Scat Pack which looks hotter than either of these and is more of a real hot rod and you can comfortably fit 4 adults in it.
well good for you

Another US tractor
that will laugh at the sight of imports
+Mark Wright Lamborghini used to make tractors as well. I can't think of any tempermental Lambos I don't like. At least the Camaro will be cheaper to fix even if it is just as unreliable.
what do you drive ?
I have several cars. I own a few muscle cars that never see rain (Ford & GM) but my daily drivers since college have always been Hondas. I have no bias against any marque. In fact, I consider myself a car guy but I harbor no illusions that my American cars are more reliable than my Hondas. If I did, experience has taught me otherwise.
mmm.nat 2 bad.bat.it.kud.be.way.bator. comon.man.is.2017.G.
I always liked Camaro's but I don't like these new ones.
Finally Yanks, All US cars are built to a price not a standard. As for drivers, you never won the WRC and your Le Mann and F1 results are dismal.
They never really tried to win the wrc, as far as i know, amd the ford gt40 won at lemans
+Dave The Cop ^^ this
+Mark Wright Yep I guess british cars are built to a standard. A shitty standard, but a standard nonetheless.
Is that why corvette destroys in gtlm?
I've had British cars, overpriced, unreliable, low quality, pieces of crap
The front end is hideous looking.
