what's great about them is that the theming and the gimmicks are pretty exclusively limited to the outer packaging and and product names and you're not stuck with a difficult to use bulky product. for example the flour powder comes in a little flour bag but then you open it and the actual product is just a standard loose setting powder jar. like you're not tipping setting powder out of a baggie for the sake of a cutesy baking theme lol.
I’m SO done with the gimmick of food themed packaging. It was cool 5 years ago because tumblr made eating pizza a personality trait but never was. This message is for glamlite.
Maggie Oxman yes lol Glamlite is just “oh look it’s an eyeshadow palette that looks like food” but Beauty Bakerie incorporates the gimmick into their products.
The peach and chocolate stuff from too faced doesn't bother me bc they were doing it b4 every other makeup brand......lol......everyone else is following everyone else....and its old. I can't wait to be excited for a brand new makeup release.

I feel like I could do a better design job tbh. Keep the rectangle/square palette shape and actually hire an artist to do the packaging. please.
Omg this takes all of the words out of my mouth. Like, growing up, things that were themed fun things like the food one or anything else was always so exciting until you see what the product is cuz it's always how things are shaped or named. And that's it. They are so lazy but need to get things out fast enough to move on tl the next release which really shows.
Remember Tarte's mermaid palette that had like two bluey-green shades? Ugh. It looked so beautiful until you opened it up and it was just a bunch of blah. :(
Follow your dreams ❤️ anything is possible. Especially if you are gunna help people make money. I feel like most advertising teams would benefit greatly if they actually just focused on making a good product and not a stupid package.
This is why I could get behind those Makeup Revolution food palettes so much more. Because they were all the rectangular shape of their regular palettes but had a cute little raised cartoon of the corresponding food item on the lid and all the shades inside fit the color story. Cute theme but easy to store.

So in Moschino's defense, the brand's whole thing has been about like using commonplace objects as inspiration so the laptop (while still probably too big) makes some degree of sense. Jeremy Scott, the. creative director, did the Music-themed stuff with MAC too
That, and kitsch and hyper commercialization is a huge part of what they do. The point is not for the laptop palette to be a convenient palette, it’s to merge the artistic identity of Moschino with make up. They also had a McDonald’s fashion colab - the not making sense part is the statement. The statement is what makes it high fashion. (Whether you like it or not is obviously another question. Not my cup of tea personally but that doesn’t change what it is)
I love the laptop palette it has a huge mirror and a cleaning pad, so its 3 in one and whenever I have to travel I dont haveto take a mirror. Plus the gold is insane in that palette. I love it.

One day a makeup artist came and did the makeup of a couple of volunteers. She used airbrush foundation. It looked so heavy. I think she must of worked for a company that does those glamour photoshoots for ordinary people.
Airbrushed makeup is amazing. There’s a reason it’s been around for over 20 years (& it’s not the crap from the 90s). I don’t do it to myself at home, but anytime I have an event where I get my makeup done I always get airbrush. I hate the feel of heavy makeup (I don’t wear foundation just a tinted moisturizer) & the airbrushing helps everything else last longer & looks flawless. Would I airbrush my makeup to go out to dinner? No way. But for an occasion it can’t be beat. And it’s a controlled spray, it isn’t getting on your clothes when it’s being applied.

The laughter that escaped my lips when I saw RawBeautyKristi try that highlighter spray... pretty sure you'd have to put alcohol in that which is counterproductive when trying to glow. It was a fail.
The “lil ball perfume thingy” is called an atomizer and had Pretty Vulgar actually used an atomizer for the setting spray it would’ve been genius (atomizers make a super super fine mist if made right) The fact that they used a regular sprayer is a super missed opportunity (and would’ve made the gimmick worth it)

I've bought a few gimmicky thingy but the one I don't regret is the Lunar Beauty Moon Spell pallete. I love that it looks like a spellbook, that it came in a sleeve that reminds be of older books I had to use for research and all the names of the shades match the theme. Also the colors and formula. I actually keep it displayed on my vanity because I love it so much
I really liked the Moschino perfume and personally, I liked the scent (the original blue one) get a sample though before buying since its a little strong for some
When I was a kid I had loads of makeup. My fave was from Claire's and it was in the shape of a flip phone 😂 and you opened it and it had different lip glosses in it. I also had like an mp3 eyeshadow thing too!! 😂 That's all I can think of when seeing the laptop eyeshadow palette
I also had kiddie perfume in the shape of shoes and handbags!! I remember being a tween and feeling so grown up and fancy using my Sex and the City handbag shaped spray!! 😂 These companies are trying to bring back kids makeup but charge adult prices
Idk how you understand and support Moschino’s spray bottle perfumes but can’t understand why they would turn a laptop into an eyeshadow palette... it’s the same concept and idea. A laptop has the same flat, folding form factor as an eyeshadow palette and the square keys are like square eyeshadow pans. Also, I believe that whole collection was technically “office supplies” themed, not necessarily “back to school.” 😉
The perfumes are actually good but is a little disapointing that they don't spray like windex but they are still good is a shame that in my country are so expensive 😅
Seeing Becca do the Zero Pigment Foundation reminds me of when you see someone who has been going through a bad break-up, and they've just completely downhill, and you want to pull them aside and be like "Becca, you didn't need Jaclyn any way. She blamed you for the bad eyeshadow palette, and then stole your logo. You don't need her."
The gimmick I always always fall for is makeup promoting a movie, especially female led super hero movies. It's never anything special, but I buy a ton of stuff just because there's a Wonder Woman logo on it
Idk but this is like one of my favorite videos you’ve ever done Hannah, this was such good content today. Thank you. I mean it’s always good but today.. today was GREAT.
I first got into makeup in the fall... so I fell for one of Too Faced's Christmas palettes. I didn't know it was bad until I got a Lorac Pro a month later and saw numerous people saying it's a scam. The cute Christmas aesthetic and nice smell got me. Fortunately I made that mistake once, so I was able to tell myself why I shouldn't buy Christmas makeup sets after that.
Not sure this is a gimmick but rather just makeup packing, but I was one of those suckers for the Colourpop Sailor Moon collection. Anything that is themed around magical girls or just anime girls, I'm sold. yes please. Also I've never seen that windex perfume packaging before and I literally chuckled outloud when I saw it. I can't imagine someone using that and expect them not to smell like chemicals LOL
Wanted to buy it, but they don't ship Sailor Moon collection to my country, so disappointed (Sailor Moon since - 94, I watched that show first in language that I don't understand, German, just watched and enjoyed, then they show two first season with Swedish dub in Finland (with Finnish subtitles) 😅 Then watched all seasons almost twice through internet, original version (and learned German, started German lessons because Sailor Moon 😅)
Your rant of the stupid perfume gave me life today - thank you for a much needed laugh! 🤣😂😅 I’m new to your channel but I’m hoping there are more rants! 🙃 I love a good rant.
The pretty vulgar setting spray bottle is an atomizer. And inlove those bottles! I would have been 🤬 if I had bought that and it was a regular spritz bottle.
Oh but also not to disappoint you but the Moschino perfumes don't have working "triggers". That piece is the cap, and you pull it off and it has the same sprayer that 99% of perfumes have.
I love that you’re starting with Becca’s Zero. 😂😂😂 Also, I KNOW it’s a gimmick. I KNOW it’s stupid. I’ve watched tons of reviews and I know it’s useless. Am I going to buy it when it goes on super sale during the holidays? Yes. Because their dumb marketing worked and I HAVE to try it. I just **have** to try it. I know. I’m an idiot.
The release of the zero pigment foundation make me so disappointed in Becca lol. They were the first brand I was ever able to find a good foundation shade from and I was so loyal. This is just an obvious cash grab and they shill it so hard on their Instagram and were like “it’s not a primer! It’s definitely a foundation!” Like girl... it’s nothing 😂
when you were talking about the pretty vulgar perfume and you said “then I watched a review...” I was like oh no don’t f tell me it’s just A CAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🧐
I also really like the Moschino Laptop Palette. It got me into actually using colors that I don’t normally use, and I find that the formulas for the metallic colors are amazing.
I'm the same with the clothing industry. Some of the pieces that are coming out lately are such gimmicks and I pray no one actually wears some of these atrocities that are trying to look * different *
I have the bear (toy 2 or smth) perfume from Moschino, I got it for my birthday and I think it smells really good, a bit like black opium by ysl mixed with si by Armani and the quality is good! The makeup pallette is a bit overkill with the gimmick
I got boy toy and another one in minis and they are my new favorite. two minis for $20 and a good amount of product, I'm going to buy another set and keep all the little bottles.
@@bobbiobanion7706 yeah I think the biggest size is £50 which is super cheap compared to the perfumes it smells similar to, I guess it's not really a gimmick tho that's why it works.
I'm so sorry to disappoint but the Windex perfume does not spray like Windex. You take the top off and it's a normal perfume spritzer
This makes me so sad 🥺
The Lush sprays spray like windex. Lol
But 100% smells amazing to me
The gold one smells really good!
I also got toy2 (the teddy bottle one) and it kinda smells like a pineapple car freshener 😂

"If you would like to look WET, then I guess, it does do that." LOL
me at becca: go girl, give us nothing!
“They had to find inspiration from the water trickling down the street” I’m actually screaming.
“I’m glad you didn’t waste money....cause I sure did” 🤣 god you really are just like everything I love
"It's a machine-o!" I'll see myself out.
Living for your glasses! Would love a “makeup for glasses wearers” tut!
HANNAH WE NEED A MAKEUP FOR GLASSES WEARERS PLEASE
The gimmick I always always fall for is makeup promoting a movie, especially female led super hero movies. It's never anything special, but I buy a ton of stuff just because there's a Wonder Woman logo on it
The DisneyxColourpop Collabs get me every time! And the Dose of Colors ones, for that matter.
The laptop palette gives me flashbacks to those little kid makeup compacts that are shaped like cell phones.
Display perfumes on shelves? I have always been taught that you should store perfumes in dark places so they don't get bad to fast.
Ive heard that too but have always kept perfumes on my dresser and never had any go bad.
I think that started because you had to do that with older perfumes.
Cold places with no direct sun! Some ppl store perfume on the fridge
@@BLiNGyourALARMclock I have mine in a cabinet in the bathroom. Works for me😊
I DIEDDDDD that you called sephora sale section....the island of misfit toys 🤣🤣🤣💀 Smokey Savage 🤣🤣
I like the glasses it lets us know you mean business and gonna dissect the makeup gimmicks to a T
The wasted space on themed pallets (like the laptop) KILLS me. Also loved the video❤️
The glasses are cute! As a fellow blind person, I don't even know why it was a discussion point. You look great ❤️
Idk but this is like one of my favorite videos you’ve ever done Hannah, this was such good content today. Thank you. I mean it’s always good but today.. today was GREAT.
But Hannah can I play a drinking game if I take a shot of water every time you say gimmick?
100%
👏🏽stay👏🏽hydrated👏🏽queen👏🏽
You would overdose on water...lmao
Wanted to buy it, but they don't ship Sailor Moon collection to my country, so disappointed (Sailor Moon since - 94, I watched that show first in language that I don't understand, German, just watched and enjoyed, then they show two first season with Swedish dub in Finland (with Finnish subtitles) 😅
Then watched all seasons almost twice through internet, original version (and learned German, started German lessons because Sailor Moon 😅)
OH MY GOD I worked at sephora when the Beccazero foundation came out and we were all buzzing about it
We decided it’s a primer
“Ok let’s just go there”. Iconic
That's so disappointing!!!!!
I guess I gotta get the Becca No pigment because I want that WET look🤣 the way you emphasized 'wet' made me laugh so hard
Oh but also not to disappoint you but the Moschino perfumes don't have working "triggers". That piece is the cap, and you pull it off and it has the same sprayer that 99% of perfumes have.
Out Fit On Point 👀🖤🤍🖤
ps I'm here for Moschino because kitsch and pop art is their whole thing. And a laptop does resemble a eyeshadow palette!
I love that you’re starting with Becca’s Zero. 😂😂😂
Also, I KNOW it’s a gimmick.
You look lovely! The hair, the lips, the outfit, the glasses? Librarian who turns out to be a vampire, too. 😂 Such a pretty overall look, thoughh! ❤
When it comes to Moschino I do believe they've became a full on collectable brand. Like LOL for adults. The perfums actually smell really good.
"What was the point Pretty Vulgar?" LOL You cracked me up.
That Storybook Mean Girls palette has been on my Christmas list for years. Mean Girls is my fifth favorite movie.
when you were talking about the pretty vulgar perfume and you said “then I watched a review...” I was like oh no don’t f tell me it’s just A CAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🧐
I also really like the Moschino Laptop Palette. It got me into actually using colors that I don’t normally use, and I find that the formulas for the metallic colors are amazing.
Those glasses are real cute 🥰 I’d totally get that style if they didn’t look too small for my face lol
I found your channel yesterday and you are wonderful! I’m very happy you appeared on my recommendations!
Moschino is all about the kitsch.
I'm the same with the clothing industry. Some of the pieces that are coming out lately are such gimmicks and I pray no one actually wears some of these atrocities that are trying to look * different *
THE VITAMINS!!!! they are so expensive for no reason, it's all marketing 😭😭 just take a multi
Omg I laughed soo hard during this video xD You are so funny thanks for making my studying days so much better!!!
Love when you circle back to plouise pallets 🤣 I agree btw, just hilarious when you bring it up
