We've explored Citizen's digital catalog , now its time for a deep plunge into the analog catalog of all the different flavours. Manual wind, automatic, chronometer , chronograph, promasters of the marine; sky and land variety and lots and lots of eco-drive. We cover the early history of the company and its marketing stunts with the parashock and parawater watches , some ridiculous divers, the fun promaster range across aqualand, alitchron and aerocron as well as your Navihawk, Skyhawk and Nighthawk ranges. Quartz also comes in with the amazing crystron mega quartz, but of course we also cover the various eco drive technologies. I hope you enjoy the video!

I've got the Skyhawk from around 20ish years ago in both SS and in titanium, and a Blue Angels (Navihawk?) from around the same period hiding in a box buried somewhere. Recently I picked up a blue Tsuki-yomi and that rekindled my Citizen love affair. Two new Garrisons and about 10 vintage SS (and titanium also) Eco-Drives (including a few for my gf) in the last 2 months, and I'm feeling Citizen. Forget that Sei, Skei, Seik, whatever that brand is. I've already forgotten them. Citizen FTW!

Honestly I would rather have a Citizen than a Seiko but I know there are many who would disagree with me. They just feel better made and more value.

Citizen’s divers pre ISO used screw down crowns while Seiko divers pre ISO used lock crowns which often failed.
The Citizen original Aqua land is often overlooked by the original Seiko Arnie.

just bought a basic echo drive with date only,from a quartz movement by lacoste,im so happy ever since the echo drive launch it was my dream watch because there's no battery needed,when i was younger i own a battery operated citizen digital watch,still in shock till now i was wearing it,hard earned money worth buying,it was my first watch to buy with my own hard earned cash since i worked & have a family.
Very informative and entertaining as always. Citizen are great watches from mechanical to digital and everything else in between. 😊

I do like the Citizen JET and intrigued by the thermal powered watch, great idea just using the heat from you wrist. Glad to be able to say I've got a Citizen too, even if it's a humble vintage manual wind example.

I have two Eco Drive F150 watches and they are my all time favorites. I have two other Eco Drives, one Atomic and a Chandler with is thin, light, and great when I'm working outside or just tinkering around.
I want a citizen Glorious! Seriously this has reminded me that theres a Citizen shaped hole in my collection, particularly interested in the depth display divers.....great vid mate.

A great video about Citizen watches. I own quite a few of them. My 1st Citizen was in the Eco Drive range and was a field watch which I purchased in the early 2000's for around £65 at the time. A very simple day/date model with a 38mm case. It's been very much a favourite in my collection and I wear it often. Seiko at that time brought their own version of solar field watch out which was slightly more expensive than the Citizen but had better specs because of the face having military 24 hour time on it and I purchased the Seiko version also. I changed the watch strap on the Citizen to a Royal Air Force military coloured 2 piece strap and it looks awesome. The Seiko solar field watch can be a strap monster also for military style watches with the colours of the service that you served in Royal Navy, British Army and the Royal Air Force.

Fantastic video. Learned so much about Citizen. I think that especially among watch aficionados they do tend to get overlooked because of Seiko and even Casio, but they have usually been the largest Japanese watch company. If money were no object, I would happily buy and wear a The Citizen or the bonkers Calibre 0100. Thanks for all your hard work in putting these tour de force videos out!

Fantastic video! I had no idea Citizen was innovative in the past. They made so awesome watches back then. I have the blue Aqualand with depth sensor you showed and a SkyHawk AT both are good watches but the dive watch keeps excellent time. I wish they would bring back some of the older models to add variety to their lineup.

Superb research as always!!! I think that Citizen is a little underrated as a brand, and that seems unfair considering their broad catalog. My first watch ever was a simple squared quartz citizen... It was not very popular at school, in the middle of the 80s when every kid was using casio digitals... I'm still trying to find a similar watch to that first one. Thanks for sharing!

Citizen is my favorite watch brand. I have 3 citizen promaster divers. 2 of them are aqualand.

All 3 of my citizen divers are still working. The 2 aqualand are Eco-drives. The first one is an automatic that I bought in the 90's (NY0040-09E). The second is an aqualand Eco-drive still on it's original power cell which I bought 18+ years ago (BJ2000-09E). My 2nd Eco-drive aqualand I bought in February 2021(BN2036-14E). I'm thinking of getting a Pepsi bezel diver BN0168-06L probably sometime this year.
Great write up! You should also check their Campanola line, it’s their highest end line, unfortunately most, if not all of it, is Japan market only

can someone please explain why Citizens are so overlooked beyond the fact that they sell a lot of cheap watches?
I think that folks either just think about their eco drive range or some of the more affordable but less inspiring options. When you dig deeper though they have been such a massive innovator in all aspects of watches. The number of worlds first they’ve had is awesome

Hi, i want to ask. About Crystron 4 mega, what are they value for now? I want to buy it
I’m not sure really. More basic looking versions look to be around £2k on chrono 24 and eBay. The gold more interesting shaped original I would guess would be substantially north of that. I think there are some substantial downsides in terms of battery life so would look into it carefully before buying. Im not an expert on this stuff so would not rely much on me!

I decided to try out citizen watches. No more timex, I lost a Casio watch after it fell off my wrist and into the toilet after I accidentally flushed it away. End of story
