- Hide yo wives, hide yo kids, citizen just updated the Tsuyosa, and I don't think you can get a better integrated bracelet watch for $500.

I own both a Tsuyosa (ice blue) and a PRX (dark blue), and while the Citizen is a really nice, everyday watch with great finishing and a beautiful bracelet, after almost a year it still didn't "click". Everytime I wear my PRX, I just can't stop looking at it. The stunning bracelet that shimmers in the light, the sunburst dial that ranges from an almost black tone to a breathtaking navy blue, the handset, the indices.... I feel like to me, the overall package is more coherent and pleasing for the eyes than the Tsuyosa's. Again, just my 2 cents. But it's interesting to see other perspectives and opinions - that's what's so great about our hobby after all! 🥰
Fuxx, looks like I am buying another watch. Kids, stay away from this addiction 😂😂
Fr I just bought 3 watches this week 💀 a prx an orient and a g shock with an AP mod 😂 I couldn't help it
@juliodelgadillo8510 slow down, you're clearly a newbie jumping head first and overspending.
Trust me, in 5 years you will have wished you saved up and studied and bought 5 nice watches rather than 15 okay watches.
I did the same thing with many hobbies when I was young. Years ago I did the same thing with knives and guns and pens and other man hobbies.
In each thing, I wish I would have spent the same amount of money but on like 1/3rd of the number of things I bought, if that makes sense.
Lol, I did that same thing with jiu jitsu gis and boxing gloves when I first got into BJJ and muay Thai 10 years ago. I have like 20 gis but I wish I would have 7 very nice ones instead of like 2 very nice ones and a bunch of medium level ones. Same with gloves, I wish I had like 2 pairs of custom Winning brand gloves rather than 8 pairs of Fairtexs and other mid level brands.
Stop where you're at and don't buy another for at least a year.
One thing I've learned in every hobby I've been involved in is that your tastes mature and change as you continue. Things I thought were cool in the first year of the hobbies I eventually found to be corny or brash or crude a few years later.
Why? If you have the cash and really enjoy it.
@user-oe9mn8uw3c because if you continue in the hobby your taste will mature and develop and you will regret moat of the amateur purchases you made and wish you had fewer, better pieces instead of more, lower quality ones.
Unless you're so rich that money almost doesn't matter, then do whatever you want.
But most of us are only going to be able to spend so much money in a lifetime on any given hobby. So if I'm going to spend $10k on watches in my lifetime, I can tell you from experience with many other hobbies that most people will have preferred to spread $10k across 2-5 pieces rather than 20 cheaper pieces.
The same is true for me and almost everyone I know who continued enjoying things like watches, pens, knives, firearms, etc.
If we are watching the video on it, it might be too late to stop the addiction 🤣
I have the PRX now for a year. It is still an amazing watch and I am very happy with it.
Which colour ?
So many brands who make more affordable integrated bracelet watches (CW, Tissot, Citizen, Direnzo etc) are missing a trick IMHO by not making 38mm versions. Its probably the perfect size for this type of watch for a lot of wrist sizes yet no one seems to have made one yet?
absolutely. integrated bracelet pieces wear 2mm larger on average.
MAEN Manhattan comes in both a 37 and a 39!
I love the 40mm sizing. But then again I prefer 41-42mm watches
I was literally going to say the same thing!! It would make it look classier, and give it some difference to the PRX.
Yup, very few men look good with a >40mm watch.
Too many little dudes thinking they're big dogs.
I don't like big watches and I'm 6'1" and 220lbs. A 42mm watch looks silly, not cool or elegant or handsome.
Beautiful watch for the price. Citizen has always been a good brand and here they are taking it up a notch. Good for them....and us.
I own a PRX. I'm not in an existential despair.
Sounds like somthing that someone with existential despair would say
@@LeMinotU eat less eggs, you will stop talking like this. Its not too late.
@@LeMinotU 😆
I'm in existential despair and I don't even own a PRX.
First stage is denial
I love my gorgeous PRX with the blue waffle dial.
The small second sells it for me. Small seconds are elegant and definitely underrated.
Citizen killed it with this, but the PRX case and bracelet are simply perfect. It's still the best for the price, especially the quartz model, it's unbeatable.
The PRX is a more direct Royal Oak homage which is maybe why you think it is perfect. Tsuyosa is a more original design.
@@yaboiyosef7640 If anything prx is an oysterquartz homage - they have almost identical case shape. The only two things similar between prx and royal oak is the 'integrated' part of integrated bracelet and the waffle dial

Its a nice watch but to me the PRX looks way better. That being said, I would own both.
I have blue tsuyosa and wife has green 35mm quartz prx, I like tsuyosa so much more. But she loves hers prx, so they are both equally good watches I suppose.
The PRX is obviously still the benchmark for an "affordable" integrated bracelet sports watch. There has yet to be another that has not been compared. I have tried to replace mine but, it has achieved greatness in a segment that, seemingly, can not be overcome...
Citizen has been a major player in the watch world since the 70s - it's just been overshadowed by Seiko and Casio, but as far as I'm concerned, Citizen beats them both in many aspects (not all) and it was the first watch I ever purchased as a teenager 20+ years ago. This new release is no different, it punches WAY above its weight class and it's finished well. And since I'm here I'll also remind folks how Citizen was also the very FIRST watch brand to implement and utilize titanium (I'll stay away from mentioning Eco-Drive because we're talking automatics) cool video Max 👍
Agreed, I've been a Citizen fan for the last decade or so.
I don’t think anyone beats Casio for $20 u can get a banging watch
Very good presentation. Fair. Nothing inflated.
I have been hearing so many reviewers bashing Citizen, for copying current trends. They do not know for how long has Citizen been making watches and these designs are not anything out of their past catalogues.
Hello and thanks for this video, This Citizen "petite seconde" Tsuyosa will be an absolut banger. Since almost three years now, this brand is clearly into an upgrade way. 👍
I bought three Tsuyosas on vacation just a couple of weeks ago on a cruise. One on the ship (Tiffany), one in Turks and Caicos (green) and one in the Bahamas (yellow). It became a *quest* to find different colors (which I posted on WC), and the reasonable price made it easily doable. These watches are a bargain and a stylish melange of PRX and OP. Love 'em!
PRX has become the go to name for budget integrated bracelet. I know a lot of people who owns it and are quiet happy about it.
I haven't even thought about a Citizen in years but definitely will give this one a gander.
Damn, screaming for a 36-38 mm
Totally!
Smaller. It will wear huge because it’s all dial.
Geee how small are you guys …damn
40 mm itself is too small for me, 20cm wrist
40mm looks ridiculous unless you're offensive lineman size
@@NoneNone_ exactly. tony soprano wore a 36mm daydate. and he’s huge.
Love the dial but hate the bracelet. I have had my PRX powrmatic 80 for over a year . It is worn every week with pleasure. I will get a CW 12 and give my prx to my grandson sometime in the future. Citizen is working their way out of mall watch hell with their new automatics. Enjoy your reviews.
Same here, everything looks and feels great except the bracelet. Horrible.
Max you are the GOAT of watch UA-camrs, great reviews !
My wife gifted me a Tissot PRX ice blue 35mm quartz on our 6th wedding anniversary. It fits perfectly on my 6.5 inch wrist. If citizen makes small seconds with about 35-37mm dial, it will fit majority of wrists.
I'm a microbrand lover and most of my pieces here are moved by Miyota 9015 and 9039, apart from an ETA or Sellita here and there.
Great video, thank you very much. Can't decide Gold or Blue...
Citizen knocked that out the ballpark 😮
Upgrade the movement to the 9000 series, reduce the thickness and case size 2-3mm, and you have a buyer here.
Then it will cost $700, and it may not have a deep pool of buyer.
Too much effort for one buyer.

Price*3 . Done.
What a stunning looking watch, can’t wait to try it on!
like your content, I started a watch collection late in life but I respect the quality of a good time piece
"GAME OVER" - You forgot to add "The world is in SHOCK".
Tsuyoza is nice, I bought the yellow one when it first came out. The only flaw imo is the crown position and how deep it's sitting😊
The small Seconds Version ist more on the outside
Prefer the PRX.
Same
For me this watch is even better and beautiful than the PRX...the dial so simple and minimalist is so perfect...hope citizen start working with more auto-movement pieces..great review
“May as well just have a quartz…”
Citizen AW0130-85: “Hold my beer”…
I have the teal 3 handed one with the date. Very pleased with it. Nice review.
I think the Maen Manhattan is the best affordable version simply by offering a different case shape.
For me the biggest difference between the two is not the movement, I don't mind quartz, but in fact the bracelet. Being an integrated bracelet watch I do think that's the most important part and the bracelet on the PRX is just better. It feels higher quality, the clasp is miles better, it looks better (imo) and that wrist roll is unbeatable for the price. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe Citizen (Miyota) does use plastic parts within the date complication on the regular Tsuyosa but I could be wrong.
Awesome video as always Max, enjoyed this a lot. What an amazing dial for the price! If I may add a suggestion though, Tsuyosa is pronounced kinda like Ssoo-Yo-Ssa. The T upfront is silent, like the F1 driver Yuki Tsunoda.
Them getting rid of the date complication is a smart move too, I tried the original Tsuyosa and the crown was too much a PITA to change just the date, so having it only be needed to adjust the time makes a big difference imo. Might look at getting this, as I have 7.75 inch wrists and need something a bit dressier!
Alternate title could be: Guess what company sponsors me/sends me free sh!t and which one doesn't...
:D spot on
I have a PRX quartz in blue over a year, and im very happy with this watch, i don’t must have an PM or Tsuyosa 👋
The Quartz ETA F06.115 used in the Tissot PRX and Couturier is actually pretty amazing. I prefer Quartz, and the Powermatic 80 I’m sure will last many many years with little service, but I understand the complaints. This watch paired with Citizens Eco-Drive or even a basic 2115 and a tapered bracelet would make an amazing competitor to the Quartz PRX. 👌🏼
Citizens is killing it lately. It's more expensive, but the Series 8 that just released looks like a near perfect integrated bracelet watch.
Great video, but what do you think about this watch against the prx. They are similar and even if the prx is pretty much better all around I think , is it 2x times better for the price which is doubled? I’m trying to understand if the extra 400euros are worth it or just mainly branding.
Thnx God, you didnt mention Roamers Stingray... We still can expect to buy those for under 300 $... Thank you a lot
The tan one of these is to die for! This watch is a steal😮
Tsuyosa always should have been 36-38mm, but if it had to be 40mm I don't understand why they didn't use a daydate movement in it. Miyota makes a full day date 8 series automatic movement that I've never seen used anywhere except cheap Chinese Rolex Daydate homages. It could have been the perfect movement.
i agree, a 36-38mm tsuyosa with 12mm max thickness and day date complication would
be on fire !!!!
I have the original Tsuyosa in Tiffany blue and really like it. The 3 things I don't like about it is the limited power reserve, the rather large spaces in between the links on the bracelet, and the difficulty using the small crown that's flush against the case. Considering I paid just under $300, I can't complain. This updated Tsuyosa has a much nicer looking dial, a better movement, and more power reserve. The bracelet looks the same though and the price went up $200. Comparing it to the PRX, I'd have to see them side by side.
I'm not quite convinced I'd pay $200 more for the new version of the Tsu. Losing the micro adjustments and the date functionality would be a bummer especially when a 9000 series movement is not included.
In addition to the dial texture (no real comparison there, for me Citizen wins hands down) and small seconds, I prefer the case design of the Citizen. Particularly, the larger size of the dial relative to the underlying case. Somehow this makes it look more refined than the PRX, which admittedly has more of a 70s vibe (not my favorite era for watches).
Watched it up to 40mm 12mm. A good first effort, will wait for a smaller & thinner iteration
It wears big
ive never considered a citizen watch before but this design truely is something else, espically for the price.
Good that u have mentioned the synthetic escapement in the Powermatic 80 23 jewels movement, lots of people dont know that. It is an important factor. Luckily, many brands like Certina or Mido are Now using only Powermatic 80, the 25 jewels version, which does not have any synthetic material. Price is of course a factor, while Tissot can offer automatic watches around 650-750EUR with the 23jewels powermatic, Certina and Mido with the 25jewels powermatic offers from 750 and above. Worth the money still imo
PRX IS STUNNING......THIS IS NICE.
Great video. I agree, PRX got a run for “their” money with this one.
Dang 50mm L2L is pretty large!
Honestly, I've loved citizen watches ever since I got my promaster world time 😊 Have been eyeing out the Tsuyosa a bit, but I'd much rather have a 35-37mm variant for this style of watch.
I think with this model, Citizen is doing a cheaper version of the NC0200-90E "The Citizen". There are several differences including the caliber and finishing. But the Tsuyosa small Seconds is the poor man version of The Citizen, which is not bad at all. On the contrary, Citizen is bringing an accessible version to the general public of one of its more upscale watches.
I really like this watch. Thanks for the review! I’ll likely pick one up this summer.
Have you thought of reviewing some of Citizen's JDM models? They have some stunners that are even Grand Seiko-esque in visual beauty.
Good point, good points...
Very good video as always ! You should really review the Yema urban traveler as I think its a solid competitor for the PRX
contrasting subdials look like bird pooped on it.
Never liked the way the round bezzel of the PRX disrupted the lines of the watch. So I recently got me a green dial 2nd generation D1 Milano automatic, which I like way better. It also has the Miyota 9015 movement.
I wonder what your thoughts are on that watch 🤔.
Dammit! Just when I thought I didn’t need another watch, then I stumble across this channel! #ILoveCitizenWatches
Yes, Citizen is a Japanese wonder, I have Citizen Tsuyosa, but I found its movement to be faster than Seiko movements and it is good that it keeps time more gently than PRX in terms of design, but as I said, the mainspring is fast and Seiko movements work more consistently.
Stunning watch
The PRX is Swiss made and that is a big thing in the watch world. No comparison at all.
As far as I'm concerned, my wife (who looks like a tall Peter Dinklage) would really like this watch. She is a fan of integrated bracelets.
PRX 35mm quartz with a DeLugs FKM rubber strap option and you’ve got a more authentic package with a little change - and one of the best wearing watches you can own
I like your Seiko more. What model is that? Thanks
I'm so glad I held out on the original Tsuyosa
It looks so goood! Hope they make a pearl white dial! I'll buy one
Ooooo
what a beautiful watch ! please tell me what will I do with my 5.5 inch wrist now ?
If this was a 38 or 37mm it'd be perfect for me. I also like a nice small seconds hand, but I think it would be so clean if there wouldn't be a small seconds display. The textured dial would pop better. If they'd release a smaller version I'd consider swapping my 35mm PRX to this (I got 16.7cm wrist and love small watches)
Crown position on PRX is always going to make it the winner for me. I'm just a bit ocd that way.🙂
I'd still rather have the PRX. Can you explain why the plastic component in the escapement is an issue without deferring to your own preconceived notion that metal is always better than plastic? Do we have any stats? The exact type of plastic used?
Provocative statements garner more UA-cam comments which helps with the UA-cam algorithm. Nothing more than that really.
ถ้าทำด้วยทอง18kทั้งเรือนเหมือนโรเล็กซ์ มันจะน่าเก็บสะสมมาก
This is a great offering, however, what the PRX still has going for it are case sizes and the quartz movement. the 35mm is just so elegant and nice, whilst I do trust that Citizen can make a nicer and better watch for the same cost as a PRX, sadly Citizen's 40mm cases are just too big. That watch is just too big on the wrist shots.
Sadly the perfect budget integragrated watch doesn't exist yet, but the PRX is the closes one. I personally don't want a 1970s style, integrated bracelet watch to have an automatic movement. Let's be accurate here, and have the right period feel with a quartz. The PRX gives us this! But I do wish that Citizen had made a 34-36mm, integrated bracelet watch, with a new high accuracy quartz movement. That would have been perfect!
Until Citizen makes this one available in 36mm and moves the crown to the 3 o'clock position then it can come down to business.
PRX is king. The fact that these brands are trying to make competition with it is proof of that! This watch is nice but the PRX (Especially the 35mm) is perfect. Thin, tapering bracelet, solid. And if you really don’t like the plastic in a mechanical movement, save yourself the $300 and get a quartz one! Go gold for that budget Vacheron 222 feel 🤤
The PRX simply looks significantly better. Better design + quartz option for easy, low maintenance is the winning formula for me.
I think I’d always go for the quartz PRX anyway, and that Citizen will wear large because there’s no bezel, the whole face of the watch is dial.
Exactly.
the PRX also wears large. comically so. not only that, the lack of articulation on the first link makes it wear like a 42mm watch.
Shocked Pikachu face upon realising that PRX wears larger and somewhat disproportionate.
@@OthusdragonreviewsThat's why theirs a 35mm version sweet cheeks
@@Othusdragonreviews I’d be getting the 35mm quartz PRX
Prx is a gamechanger. I have it i love it. Now i want to add another watch to my beginner collection but the ones i like are 2x 3x more pricey than Prx. I probably gonna add another Prx.
got mine 2 weeks ago from Jomashop at 285.00 and a week late they jumped to 399.00 / so far loving the blue dial but i might need to look at the Brown salmon orange dial / night sure what the color is changes every time i see one ... fits better than the PRX on my 6 3/4 wrist and i love that dial
I prefer the aesthetics of a bracelet that doesn't taper too much, and it looks very noticeable on an integrated bracelet. No experience of the Miyota movements yet but I have a 9 series on the way.
Nope. The Tissot has a better case shape, and the Tissot name carries more cachet than Citizen ever will.
Bought a blue quartz PRX 35, couple of years ago. To be honest I still like it very much, and even though many watches have come out since, I don't really feel as if I'm missing out. Also because the one I own has already scratched that itch. With Citizen, while a good value proposition, I don't fee quite sold on it. Don't like the crown placement, rounded shape, and sizing. The PRX has better, sharper design in my opinion, and it's Swiss made. The quartz version is beautifully slim, robust and has much longer life potential due to it's low maintenance and reliable movement.
yeah, that is a substantial crisis.
The 12 by Christopher Ward still looks nicer to me!
Both of these look great but I feel the real PRX crusher was made by micro brand named Jack Turner. The design looks better and they offer way more for the money.
Speaking only about looks, there is no way you would not prefer the PRX.
The 8000 series movement is also used in the MAD 1. 🤷♂
Prx is a gamechanger.
Prx it's PRX this is it, Game over for citizen
I have both watches and I think prx > tsuyosa
Been researching Christopher Ward The Twelve Titanium. YT algorithm fed me this video. How would you compare them to the Citizen?
I love the powermatic 80
Wasn’t the Maurice Lacroix Aikon out first? I would say that was the cheap Royal Oak alternative

I have 2 Tsuyosa's and 3 PRXs. Trust me, PRX is way better than the Tsuyosa. Don't get we wrong, i love them both, that's why i bought them, but the PRX is better

What model of seiko is the one you have?!
This is nice, but Ilike the Maen over this and the PRX
Yes, I own two PRX autos and just ordered the Maen Manhattan 39mm size in garnet. The Manhattan in 39mm was something I was waiting for and when it was announced, I ordered the very same day.
