It is easy for him do to his nationality but to express all of this pain, flirt, lonelness, drama, nostalgic feeling you need to deeply understand history behind this soundtrack, era and history background. Amazing! He truly understands Chopin. His sound is so powerful and delicate at the same time. Best sonata performance in this round. He knows how to express the true beauty of music. It was his recitle, not a competition when he was playing. I could tell that he really loves Chopin by listening to him playing. He plays the sonata wonderfully. The first movement is awesome, second movement’s staccato is really beautifully played, and the third movement is a heaven. Finale presto non tanto was filled with passion.
In my opinion, he is the winner.

@@aliceko4695 So do I. It must be a mistake. Why isn't he in the finals? Technique is not everything that matters. It's the soul and personality that you put into your performance combined with technique that make up something incredible and he has all of the qualities. He's unforgettable and so are his concerts. Not letting him perform in the final is a huge mistake. I wonder how they would justify their choice. If Chopin could vote, I'm sure the pianist would not only be in the final, but he would get an award.

Just exceptional. The moment I heard Andrzej Wierciński playing during the first round and when I heard what he said during his interviews I realised I'd discovered a piano genius. What moves me most about him is his personality and the way in which he talks about Chopin and how he plays Chopin's music with his heart. I feel as if he invited his listeners to his beautiful and full of passion and feelings world of music. The music he plays touches listeners' hearts and once you heard him play and saw him play you won' forget him. To me he is the winner.
Please listen to how Andrzej Wierciński played Chopin's concerto in E minor last year during last year's 24th Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival: ua-cam.com/video/He3xzh4ezjs/v-deo.html and how much we have lost as listeners as he was not admitted to the final round. Why wasn't he admitted to that is a question that keeps haunting me. I just can't come to terms with that decision. I hope the exceptional pianist will keep playing and amazing the world with his outstanding heartfelt interpretations of Chopin's music that move you deeply, touch your heart and make you feel as if you were breathing crystal clean air. Unpretentious, natural, refreshing, authentic, harmonious. To the artist: Thank you for all you have given us so far. Keep playing and delighting the world with your talent and personality.
Bezpretensjonalny naturalny, ożywczy, autentyczny i pełen harmonii. Prosze dalej grać i zachwycać świat swoim talentem i osobowością.

It is a pity that only great pianists are invited to such great competitions for great composers, provided that there are exceptional composers - pianists who know the nature of the creative and performing process, more truly and organically .... probably there would be other different results and solutions. And with more respect.

I'm listening to this for the third time and trying to understand why he's not among the finalists. it's a shame ! For me he remains the winner. I also find it strange that pieces like op, 2 are allowed in the third round. The jury should ask for maurkas, ballads, preludes and sonatas. op.2 is a full-fledged piece but not difficult from an interpretative point of view and with it some made it into the finals.

True, Mazurki, Ballady, Scherza should be judged on the base of authenticity, since the competition takes place in Poland. I don't think Piano Concertos bring the most out of Chopin's ethnically based music, to choose a winner. There's more to play music correctly than pure technique, it has to be emotionally and ethnically correct.

To my ear, Mazurki are some of the most demanding Chopin's pieces, to play correctly, meaning authentic, with Mazovian, Kujavian country melody in it. To me often Mazurki played by Far East players sound as if Chopin was born in Kanton, not provincial village of Mazovia.

I’m very sad about this man didn’t go to finals. I thinks is necessary a public awards, not only judges ones. They want extremely hortodox playing and it’s important.
