My favorite contestant by far!!! One of the very few pianists that are able to play with such a high level of musicality and that bring life and a story to each individual piece
I never seen a pianist can sing through a piano like Miss. Miyu Shindo. She cares and bring the best sound of the piano with such precision like painting on the canvas. The dynamic, rubato, polish accent, feel that cheer up your mood with every single note. She's the Leonardo Da Vinci Pianist that should be more recognized. From the amount of likes, I truly can see how she's the underdog in this competition probably due to her tiny size or funny expression. I hope the jury can see her more to her excellent skill level that no other pianist can achieve with those small hands. The world need her to go to final so we all can sing together and enjoy her more. I really love her period and thank you for your beautiful performance. 🙌
@@LC-ig2jm She definitely better than those 2 gentleman because her precision hitting every note at the same time with clear and correct dynamic which is unreal. Totally. The Japanese contingent was super strong in this competition, which even without the Japanese would've stood on an exceptionally high level. And among the Japanese, Miyu must've been my favourite.
she is most definitely someone i would love to see in the 2025 Chopin Competition and ultimately in the final stage. In the live chat, several individuals were commenting on her overly emotional interpretations and a lack there of Chopin’s “seriousness and pride” that could’ve eliminated her. i suppose an example of this could be her excessive rubato. i wouldn’t know because i’m no Katarzyna Popowa Zydron

Let’s hope she comes back in 5 years à la Kobayashi and that she uses this time to mature as a pianist. She is great... One of the few contestants that does not play Mazurkas as Waltzes... Yes, the 3rd note accent at the end of a phrase ("stomp"). Before playing Mazurkas, all "Chopinites" should listen/watch Volk Ensemble "Mazowsze", Mazurkas played by Ignatz Friedman (he was from a "klezmer" family) and an incredible performer that nobody knows about, Andrzej Wasowski. While Artur Rubinstein played Mazurkas well, they are too "sublime" and polished. For God's sake, these pieces are usually based on Polish folk dances. Sorry... Mazurkas are not Waltzes and MIYU SHINDO GOT IT!!! Also listen to Kate Liu's Mazurkas from previous competition (search YT)... Kate's prize for Mazurkas was fully deserved and I personally think that she should have been a winner of the XVII Chopin Competition.
Her tone/technical playing is outstanding although not without mistakes. My only concern: I hope she does not lump into the category of Tiffany Poon who was so animated while playing, it was so distracting. Since she reached the 3rd round, I am crossing my fingers, this is not a concern. I hope this does not give the judges the reason not to put her in the finals.
When we looked at all the past winners, they didn’t play with overdo style. Bunin played in Russian style with lifting up his arms high, but not that much. I see no Polish performers playing with too much facial and form expressions. They are almost sitting straight and not much overdo movements. They know what the jury is looking for at the end.
I think the jury wanted make sure that she’s worth advancing. She is a stylish pianist. It’s easy for audience to feel somebody is good. The truth is too much unnecessary movements loose the centered ness of playing and normally end up poor projection. Good projection of sounds come from the solid posture. Good example is Horowitz and Argerich. Argerich creates subtle nuances without getting help from her body. The sound quality is much better with Eva Georgian. From a such a slender body, you try to figure out how she does it. Btw Aimi Kobayashi played in the same style and it seemed it was working for. Through her bitter experience, this time she learned how to project the sound and played much much better this time and the jury gave a sound approval. She is ready…
Miyu is an exceptional pianist, and I think making it to third stage is a massive achievement. She might not be a finalist, and there were a few minor slips, but she is a real gem.
She has an incredible posture to produce brilliant sounds. What is so distracting is her body expression. Hopefully she settles down eventually. When you think of longevity in any field, the masters realized the most economical use of energy produce the best quality sounds. I hear her sounds as brilliant however choppy. I wonder how Argerich would score her performance. She has the goods to be an excellent musician.
@@sarahdubois2386 you know, my brother played guitar in our band. While soloing, he would make ridiculous shapes with his mouth...all involuntarily. He still rocked.

@@hanskulainen yes, I totally agree with you.
Miyu is an exceptional pianist, and I think making it to third stage is a massive achievement. She might not be a finalist, and there were a few minor slips, but she is a real gem.
Visually So much body movement takes away from the beauty of her hands.
I can't stand to watch her- playing piano shouldn't look so painful.
We all channel the music differently.
,that's true- but she looks like she's being tortured .
@@sarahdubois2386 you know, my brother played guitar in our band. While soloing, he would make ridiculous shapes with his mouth...all involuntarily. He still rocked.
Supposing you are sitting in the middle of the hall, you never feel like that if you want to check her facial expression with binocular.
Her excessive movements and the faces she pulls are just a distraction from Chopin’s music as far as I’m concerned.
Mazurek a moll????!!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬.... Przesyt formy nad treścią. Co to ma wspólnego z duchem Chopina???
Chyba się Waść czepiasz!!! Moim zdaniem ta dziewczyna po prostu czaruje dźwiękiem.
