This may just be the perfect setup for someone like me. Older (40's) professional that doesn't want to piss off the neighbors, but also still wants my GTI to sound a bit like my Dad's MK1 that I fell in love with when he worked at VW Westmoreland.
I like the burbles or pop & bangs a lot more with this setup. They´re more relaxing instead of loud and abnoxious. I still prefer the aftermarket exhaust from Unitronic but i would not use the pop & bangs or burbles.
I run a 3” catless downpipe with an exhaust cutout welded into it, and the rest of the exhaust is OEM. I get the sweet sound of the downpipe when the exhaust cutout is closed, and when the exhaust cutout is open, it gives a sound that no catback exhaust for this car will ever give you. With the exhaust bouncing off the ground where I have my exhaust cutout located... sweet sweet sounds.
