Behfor, with your plan you are eligible to get a "CE1000A" which will use the 6ghz to create a dedicated backhaul sort of like a mesh system and then SON will switch you from the main router to extender and on different bands intelligently all on it's own, Qualcomm has a dedicated page on the router so it uses their chipset.
With pass through on the Verizon Gateway, is MTU set to 1428 on your home router? I had similar connection issues and it got resolved by changing it from 1500 to 1428
Thanks for the vid. I recently started Verizon Home Plus - with service advertised as up to 300 mbps download. I received the same gateway (CR200A). The downloads were generally quite variable on 5 , 6 ghz and wired connection, it was 100-300 mbps, -- the ping was 40-70, and the jitter was awful sometimes exceeding 100 ms. I thought the variance was strange but chalked it up to 5G. Then the 2.4ghz wifi started to occasional drop to less than 5mbps downloads. When this happened, it became virtually unusable. After numerous calls with tech support, I eventually returned the gateway and started service with a new gateway. With the new gateway, speeds are consistently between 200-300 mbps. Ping is generally less than 30 and jitter is less than 10. I'm wondering if you received a bad gateway. A lot of the symptoms you had are similar to the ones I had.
Currently in my 30 day free trial with this service and equipment. Getting speeds of 400+mbps both download and upload, at service address. Took it out to my in-laws' farm and could only get 80mbps down 5mbps up - but at least it worked. Looking to use it as a backup provider, due to frequent power outages in my area.
The IP Passthrough mode in the entire Verizon 5G Home ecosystem is shot. It doesn't work. There is some kind of bug that causes firewall issues. It is true of the ASK model and also the WNC newer model gateway. It's a shame. You have to run your router in the DMZ of the gateway. It's the only workaround. Ping and jitter are horrendous for me too. Always have been. Some claim the WNC gateway is programmed at a hard 100 Mbps limit. This is not the case for me. It may be an area specific throttling issue Verizon implements to manage traffic? I routinely get the same speeds as I got with the ASK model gateway. Occasionally it will break 300 Mbps, but most often it hovers around 150-250. The Wi-Fi range on the WNC model gateway is better by about 15%, or so. Nothing legendary.
I was able to get the pass through to work, at least 2 years ago, but it greatly reduced my Wi-Fi speeds with my own router versus just using the 5G cube so I just gave up and used the cube. Disappointed that the supposed better router is getting worse speeds. Don't feel like a good time
The gateway did feel unstable compared to the old cube but once I used the passthrough with an old Asus router I had then the internet was more tolerable. Also, changing the MTU to 1400 solved the lag I constantly had when gaming on my PC.
Where are you getting the 1400? This topic fascinates me. I'm not a computing pro, but I have some limited technical ability and I require fast Internet the results of my ping tests sat me at 1392. Add 28 and it's 1420. Other people have had luck with 1428, which would be similar to your 1400 but with adding the 28 for the IP header (20 bytes) and the ICMP echo request header (8 bytes). I'm lost. When I use a diagnostic app for ping tests I also get a limit of 1400. Is that excluding the headers? I have no clue.
Well this sucks to hear. I was hoping this would be an improvement over the old 5G rig. I'm looking for stable internet and was considering this. I'll keep researching, I guess. Thank you for your content- truly enjoy your videos and insights you provide.
I have the 5g plus plan with the smaller updated fios cube setup and will say my speeds are around 295-310 mb download speed with around 20mb upload it’s good for streaming UA-cam or downloading games but playing them online its total trash. When I do a test on my Xbox it has latency speeds of 60-90 Ms and sometimes I get kicked from games like Cod or it will just be laggy, I absolutely hate this because I’m a massive gamer that can’t have fun or stream otherwise for general internet usage it’s fine but for $70 a month you should be able to do it all 😢
Hi, Thank you for sharing your experiences. I have benefited from you, especially the experiences with Asus devices. I have a request, please. I want you to make a video on the best settings for your Asus router to stabilize connectivity and fast response for gaming, especially if your main connection is 5G. Thank you. Note: my Asus router is ax3000 tuf gaming

love your videos. keep them coming for us non-techs. thank you

I heard the programmer who worked on Verizon's newer gateways now works for Crowdstrike. What a coincidence!
Haha 👍🏻

That's good! Mine was so bad that I finally had to return it! Thanks for sharing

I have to put my gateway on my patio and I get top speeds download and upload. It seems when it is inside my apartment the connections are bad.
Great! Thanks for sharing!
We have the small cube one and we have lots of issue very slow internet and we have the 5g plus home package
Sorry to hear that! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻

I know! Me too but that's unfortunately how it is, at least for me!
In my city area Verizon is very very expensive for only home plan internet
Sorry to hear. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the suggestion
The new gateway is throttled through Verizon....they told me there is no work around.

Is verizon the only 5G home internet you have tested?
yes, so far.
ping spikes are terrible do not buy this crap service
