    I got here from an article you wrote. Thanks for this! I am a high income earner who absolutely depends on internet for my work. My local fiber ISP has been SO annoyingly flakey. I’m actually getting this as my back up internet and at the lower price point, it’ll be PERFECT to get me through fiber outages. And if Verizon ends up being fast and reliable, I may eventually drop fiber. I just love those 900 mbps speeds 🤣

      Hi, thanks for commenting! Yeah, 5G Home Internet is a great backup to cable/fiber because it relies on totally different technologies. So if, say, harsh weather takes out the fiber, then 5G will probably still be ok. I get max speeds of 300mbps. Reliability has been very good for me. - Brian

    I also have been using the service for a year. I'm completely satisfied with the service. Have a home in another state and use it for a security cameras. Had a couple of glitches through the whole year but nothing that didn't fix itself. love your channel Brian keep it up.

      I’ve been using this WiFi for several months and it is the worst WiFi I have ever seen yet alone have, sometimes I can barely get to do my homework and I would be lucky if my games run smooth without having 30 frames per second, I can rarely run Roblox with a 1000 dollar gaming laptop. It isn’t good I can’t recommend anything else more

    I’ve had mine for about 6 months. It does go down sometimes, but it’s still more reliable (and cheaper) than spectrum. I use it for online gaming on PS5 and it works great.

      Hi Dennis, thanks for sharing! Some folks have said that rebooting every so often helps with the reliability. I haven't had any downtime in months now though, without doing that. - Brian

      Maybe in your area, but here Spectrum has been rock solid for over 20 years now. Been down once or twice in that time due to extreme storms power outages

    How were you able to try Verizon for 1 month and keep your cable internet and be able to compare? Did Verizon have a deal for 1 month? Usually there is a 2-3 yr commitment on first time customers. We pay $85 with Cox now and with two kids, two story house and tv/gaming we often go over our 1280GB limit. Would the Verizon 5G be practical for our home?

    • @disablemycable
      @disablemycable  4 місяці тому +1

      Verizon 5G Home Internet is month-to-month. No annual contract. You would probably need to get the 5G Home Plus plan, but I recommend trying it out for a month to make sure. - Brian

    Is it able to handle multiple TVs simultaneously streaming FireTV Sticks, gaming on a PC and audio streaming, all being run simultaneously?

    • @disablemycable
      @disablemycable  4 місяці тому

      It depends on the actual speed available in your location. I would guess that the 5G Home Plus plan (300Mbps max) could handle that load. The 5G Home (100Mbps max) might have issues. - Brian

    Thanks for this video i think i will try this out. I prefer havibg all my stuff plugged in ethernet but if my streaming services dont go down in quality then ill be ok. I dont do online games really so im not worried about that. Spectrum is whack and im paying too much i know. My up and down on my ps4 plugged in ethernet ranges from 100-200mgb up and around 20 down so if my ps4 can do that with verizon then dope ill pay 50 id end up saving more than you did.

    I tested this out recently- due to the layout of my apartment, and the position of the building, the signal was weak and the data rates were horrible. I'm sending the WiFi kit back.
    Am I wrong to think this is essentially a cellphone that provides a hotspot? It was assigned cell number, I mean, come on.

      There is no data limit for Verizon 5G Home Internet. There are speed caps though depending on what service you sign up for. - Brian

    Im curious as to how much of a signal do you need to have before getting this service.

    • @disablemycable
      @disablemycable  3 місяці тому

      Theoretically, Verizon won't offer the service in your area unless you have enough signal. Try entering your info on their website to find out. But if you already have Verizon on a phone, I probably would be wary of getting home internet with fewer than 3 bars of signal strength.

    how are you getting the fast speeds? they are only offering me 50mbps

    • @disablemycable
      @disablemycable  4 місяці тому +2

      Available speeds probably depend on location and number of cell towers in your area.

      Hey Dylan, Verizon offers a few fixed wireless products. One of them is their LTE product which has speeds capped at 50mbps down and 5mbps up. This is offered in areas that have not received upgrades yet.
      The second one is their 5G product which is the one that is going to provide a very fast experience. Speeds are capped at 300 down and 20 mbps up. It’s available where they have done upgrades and C-Band(N77) has been deployed.
      The last one is another 5G product that is sold in areas where Verizon has deployed mmWave which is a very high frequency. You will typically see it in cities and this product allows for speeds up to 1Gb down not sure what the upload restrictions are.
      If 50mbps isn’t meeting your needs I am gunna assume it’s because you have a higher speed option available. If it’s cable you will want to stick to that . That being said if you’re looking to save money you may want to explore if T-Mobile or AT&T offer their fixed wireless home internet in your area.
      Your internet speed will be dependent on coverage in your area generally speaking you should expect to average around 50mbps-150mbps down and 10-20mbps up with any fixed wireless solution
      There are of course exceptions but that is a general rule of thumb

    • @pigggle
      @pigggle 2 місяці тому

      Having pretty much the same issue here except just having it all the time now. I had good 300mbps service for 6-7months, but recently I can't get anything higher than 30mbps, and whenever I restart the gateway it gets better for only 10 minutes and goes back to 30mbps. I really wish I had cable internet where I live because I'm so fed up with this trash ass internet.
