    Our nervous system needs to heal. We have taught our brains to react through worry and fear.

    I had the sh*t hit the fan after getting off meds for 6 month and then restarting. Not feeling numb and DP...been back on meds since June. Wondering if I should get off of them and *face* the feelings. Hate this numb.

      That's a tough spot to be in for sure. Unfortunately I will never provide advice on taking or not taking meds nor should anyone else on the Internet that doesn't know you and doesn't know the specifics of your life and your situation. But I can totally validate that being in that "no man's land" with the meds choice is really stressful and it often feels that neither choice is right. xx

    It’s me again Drew….I just can’t seem to be patient with the lightheaded woozy feeling. I let it stop me, which I know is wrong. How do you find patience with yourself in the face of fear of, as you say “that ONE symptom….”, especially since it’s just always there?

    • @TheAnxiousTruth
      @TheAnxiousTruth  2 роки тому +6

      We have choice, even when we insist that we do not. The symptom is there anyway. We get to choose how to interact with it, or not interact with it. Start by confronting the reality that the way you've been doing it has not helped at all. Letting go and allowing is actually kinder to ourselves that continuing the bracing and fighting.

      I’ve had that specific symptom and it completely goes away. The symptoms aren’t that important they will all clear once anxiety is treated.

      I’m curious if you don’t mind answering, what triggered your severe anxiety in the first place. Was it a certain life event. Also did you have a good childhood. Like we’re there issues in your family growing up. You don’t have to Answer these btw.

    • @beausmom8863
      @beausmom8863 2 роки тому

      @@ittai6702 I’m comfortable answering. I had a medical emergency. I went in with severe chest pain and they found blood clots in my lungs. I was put on meds and thought ok…I’m fine. Then the thoughts, fears and worry started. I made 35 trips to the ER within 7 months time…yes basically weekly at some times, and even twice a week on a few occasions. Then all the dizzy disconnected heavy head and pressure started. A million doctor visits and tests later and they all say anxiety but with the symptoms ramping up I live in constant fear it’s something else.
      My childhood was not great. The highlights were molestation, and also physical and emotional abuse. My parents divorced when I was three. They were not the people that did me harm it was the parade of “step parents” that came in and out of my life….so yeah hope I didn’t overwhelm you. I’m just very open and honest.

    Great work, Drew. I can't help but feel there's something wonderfully Daoist and counterintuitive about this -- the more I struggle and try to speed up, the slower I go or less progress I make; the more I manage to slow down and fight less, the more I'm capable of.

    • @TheAnxiousTruth
      @TheAnxiousTruth  2 роки тому +6

      Everything about this is counterintuitive, isn't it? That's one of the things that traps so many people. It seems logical to fight it and run from it, when really we're best served by doing the exact opposite.

    Hi Drew. Just wondering if you have ever talked about a different type of anxiety issue - fear of medical treatment? Fear of doctors or health procedures is a BIG issue for me, one that I have not been able to overcome since my cancer diagnosis 13 years ago. This irrational fear has led to avoidance of doctors, dentists, eye exams, ect. Therapy is yet to be helpful in getting me to think rationally about it .
    Have you dedicated any videos to this issue? Can you recommend any books on this topic?
    Thanks so much.

    • @TheAnxiousTruth
      @TheAnxiousTruth  Рік тому

      That really does depend on what you think needs to be avoided. Are you afraid of hearing bad news again? Are you afraid of being too anxious during the visit or during the procedure? There can be different presentations there so it depends on what it looks like for you in your specific situation.

      Health anxiety is big for me too, Wendy. I have fear of doctors, to the point I also avoid going to see them. What you described, I also have. You are not alone, Wendy. My God bless you, and may the anxiety be lifted from you.
