December 1986- My friends and I read in a alternative/wave magazine that Wang Chung would be performing at Rainbow Music Hall in Denver, Co in Jan. 1987. We make the trek by car 125 miles from Sterling Co to Denver in a snow storm that was quickly turning worse. We get to Rainbow Music Hall to find out that the concert was canceled due to weather. We had called that morning and all was fine. We ended up eating at Wendy's and driving for five hours back to Sterling which would have normally taken two hours in good weather. That's my Wang Chung story.
I used to work at a pet store and sometimes we’d have the 80s station on. Me and my friend Sean would hear this song sometimes and wonder what the hell the lyrics were. He died a few years back, not even 30. Now whenever this (or a few other songs) pop up, I think of him. Rest in peace buddy

I've said it before, Saturday night, cheap wine, but good wine, '80's music on youtube. Maybe some '80's movies later on...BEST DECADE EVER!!! I miss my friends from those days. I absolutely miss the music.
Airbender 4, yes, I get horrible melancholy when I think about how great the 80s were, especially the music... they were full of optimism. The world now is much more cynical and dysfunctional.
Agreed 1000%. The 1980's music was so different from so many bands-- they seemed to use all the instruments they could get their hands on to layer the sound of a song-- used all the tools in the box, so to speak. Now-- not sure I hear anything different in any genre; country sounds the same, pop/rb/soul sounds the same and they use sampling, looping and autotune-- nobody is going to actually convince me they are musicians/singers learning their craft as much as they are convenience and routine. The 1980's are so far above what's going on today, and it's not even close.
Its August 2024 and i hope everyone listening has a beautiful life and let this song bring you happiness and peace. Listen to lyrics deeply and let it strengthen your relationship with the one you love
I regrettably was born in 02, however my family practically hid all present day music, and songs like these are my childhood, although it did take Vice City to remind me of this specific song

We had called that morning and all was fine. We ended up eating at Wendy's and driving for five hours back to Sterling which would have normally taken two hours in good weather. That's my Wang Chung story.
This is not music. This is crap, because its age-restricted
There’s something magical about this song. Makes me feel a rush of life and love
So true!
Good music for psychopaths killing people
This song predates GTA Vice City by 18 years and now we are 19 years past that god time flies by fast.
😮
Fui DJ de vinilos desde 1976 a 1990, tuve la suerte de vivir esas épocas a pleno, nada mejor... Tengo 63 años, como pasó el timpo.
The name Wang Chung means "Yellow Bell" in Chinese
It is the first note in the Chinese classical music scale ❤️
I always thought it meant something dirty...
I thought it was what you wake up to after too much tequila and passing out naked in the bathtub.
🤔....Wait - don't you mean Chang Wung?
And I’m still dancing hall days….since the 80s….🕺💃
I'm 69, just rediscovered dance hall days, gotta watch the video every day, WOW ! And how does he get that guitar sound. Waaay cool
from a time when everyone knew they needed a video...but had no idea what to put in it.
well said! :o)
so many videos from those days had nothing to do with what they were singing about in the song; too funny
and it still worked somehow!
This is the perfect song to play at the party to celebrate my brother-in-law's cancer going into remission, while I make some of my famous margaritas
Brings back those high school days!!!! The 80s was one of the best decades.♥♥♥♥♥
Natalie Harris Amen .
Natalie Harris I'm almost 17 all over again...1984.
James Johnson I feel the same way♥
Natalie Harris not one of the best, it was the best.
trevorbaldwin1 No argument from me ; )
I used to work at a pet store and sometimes we’d have the 80s station on. Me and my friend Sean would hear this song sometimes and wonder what the hell the lyrics were. He died a few years back, not even 30. Now whenever this (or a few other songs) pop up, I think of him. Rest in peace buddy
Who loved the 80's, say 'yeah'. 👏👏👏😍✌️
YEAH
The best in the 80 s
GTA vice city, obrigado por me fazer amar essa música 🤙🏼🇧🇷💚🇧🇷 nostalgia bateu!

That is definitely the strangest A-ha song I’ve ever heard.
Very unusual. Quite relaxing.
Good call😎👍🏻
This reminds me of spring time in the 80's when i was a kid
This reminds me of beating up hookers and blowing up cops with an RPG.
The Cthulhu hahaha omg you just made my day!
The 80s were the peak for humans.
I wish I grew up in the 80s.
Actually 1999-2007 was the peak of western society.
@@Gonken88 Nope. I suspect 1955-1965, and I was not even born.
@@dneuf6146 You can suspect what you want, society was still moving forward back then. From the 08 crisis we've only been in regression.
Still listening to this classic . Who else . ❤
takes me back to the 80s instantly. I feel so old the amount of people goin on about a play station game here like it's a legendry game, wen this sing come out spectrum an commodore 16 was the new thing lol
Duggy Dee.. Lol.. True
Vice City, is, indeed, a legendary game. :D
Duggy Dee I was trying to remember what game I heard it from. I knew it was a GTA game. this really takes me back to vice city
I was about 3 when this song came out but I did play a games console and it had 4 bit sound quality I used to play Astrosmash and battle tanks on the intellivision back then so old school it had a wood effect finish.
Commodore 64
It's December 2024 and 40th anniversary to this amazing song from the best decade in music the 80's😊😊😊
I'm feeling a little "wang chung" today....that's why i'm here.
Life was much moor easyer back in the 80s
I saw Wang Chung live in the 80s and they did this song… happy times@!
Mind if I ask where did you see them?

I came from Vice City
The best decade for growing up as a kid and teen,I had a very happy childhood thanks dad and everyone at Sant Anthony village high school, go big blue!
Moments like these are why I keep coming back to UA-cam, depsite the horrible fighting between complete strangers. I don't even know why but i had this song just pop into my head today. It reminds me of much happier days. Thank you to the person who kindly posted it, I appreciate it very much.
Just experienced this today! Here I am! 😂 Such great music!
As long as everybody has fun tonight, then everybody will wang chung tonight.
FaceRip I ate some laChoy earlier 😀
LaChoy? How did that work out for you? Was it good?
Yeeeessss 😀 hoping that you realize I bought the kit to make it at the store
I'm not following you. You bought a kit, but then you made it at the store? Please explain yourself. If you refuse to explain yourself, penalties will be created and enforced.
Grocery store like Winn Dixie in their ethnic foods aisle.
I was young, early 20's, when this came out, full of energy and ambition just like the youth in the 1940's in the video. Time, where does it go.
Wang Chung was one of the masters of 1980s music video romanticism. Masterpiece.
Simpler times! Love the memories! ❤
I watched The Idea of you and heard this song after many years .. being in my 50s brings back memories . Loved it then and love it now …. Loved The Idea of you .. as an older woman in the same situation .. I was 11 yrs older . Madly in love and connected
This song is stuck in my head…
I've said it before, Saturday night, cheap wine, but good wine, '80's music on youtube. Maybe some '80's movies later on...BEST DECADE EVER!!! I miss my friends from those days. I absolutely miss the music.
Airbender 4, yes, I get horrible melancholy when I think about how great the 80s were, especially the music... they were full of optimism. The world now is much more cynical and dysfunctional.
I'm 53 years old and feel exactly the same, I miss all disco night dances
Good ideeas my friend
Agreed 1000%. The 1980's music was so different from so many bands-- they seemed to use all the instruments they could get their hands on to layer the sound of a song-- used all the tools in the box, so to speak. Now-- not sure I hear anything different in any genre; country sounds the same, pop/rb/soul sounds the same and they use sampling, looping and autotune-- nobody is going to actually convince me they are musicians/singers learning their craft as much as they are convenience and routine. The 1980's are so far above what's going on today, and it's not even close.
Great time for me growing up!
Malibu Club - Vice City ❤️
Malibu Lido Beach?
Ocean Beach
Riiight!!
😂
I would just say Supply And Demand
Ahh the 80s! The only time in history when it was acceptable to tuck your sweater into your trousers
And the only time it was acceptable to wear a plain t shirt with a suit coat.
With the sleeves rolled up.......
Yes 😂👌
No no never has been and if there’s any justice in the universe never will be 😛😏
Lol..exactly 💖
Well to be fair, the fashion of the 80's was recovering from the fashion of the 70's, which were dark times indeed.
Its August 2024 and i hope everyone listening has a beautiful life and let this song bring you happiness and peace. Listen to lyrics deeply and let it strengthen your relationship with the one you love
When I was growing up in the 80's I thought these old songs were weird for some reason. Now they energize my spirit in a pure feeling way.
The movie "The idea of you" (2024) includes this amazing song. ❤
GTA Vice City also
I grew up to this song 76 baby
for all of you gta players I thank rockstar for teaching you young gamers about music
76 what
1976 baby i was born lol year of the dragon
I regrettably was born in 02, however my family practically hid all present day music, and songs like these are my childhood, although it did take Vice City to remind me of this specific song
Oct 2024!
Still rocking as ever!
80s are the best. Unmatched!
i wish i was born in 1970. i would be a teenager and rockin it in the awesome 80s
I was born in 1970, too! Being a teen in the '80s wasn't bad, but I got bullied a lot because I was a New Waver surrounded by jocks. I also didn't smoke, and smoking was EVERYWHERE back then. I don't miss the smoking at all.
@@solinvictus39 I was born in 68, the 80s was the best time of my life, wish I could go back

The string chords in the bridge are just epic. Thank you Wang Chung for this amazing song.
Say what you want to say about GTA, but it introduced many of us to some of the most banger music.

This song was playing in the first Go-Go bar that I walked into in Bangkok.
The scene to which I was greeted with will stay with me forever.
Those were the dance hall days my friend.
Great memory!
Remember the song “One night in Bangkok”?
Wang Chung funky pop from mid 80s "Dance hall days" classic 😎👍.
Why is 80's music has better rhythm than today's music
Not Rhythm... No Melody:

The Idea of You (2024) 😍
