    I'm still not happy with the software and am trying to find a better app without writing one myself, so maybe I'll have a followup in the future when I'm actually impressed by something.

    For that issues in the software; maybe boot a vm in a proxmox server or something similar, remmina / rdp into that box on boot with the pi. Figure out what you want (software) and push it in once to your pi. Or if the rdp already works for you keep it like that :)

      A lot of the Linux software I found is really designed for a second monitor, there's no good way to remote control it. I could have the Pi be the second monitor, so have a VM with two monitors and separately connect to the control from my laptop. I'd have to use VNC then, since SPICE and RDP both do one tunnel for all displays.

      I have an Air M1, before that I had an Intel based Air.
