On a memorable trip to London in 2008, I was staying in a B&B in Haringey, which I later learned borders Hackney and Crouch End, I loved King's story one of his more vividly Lovecraftian tales. I have the audiobook read by the great Tim Curry.
Good stuff, John. A video on 'haunted' / supernatural parts of the area would be really interesting e.g. Queens Wood and the witches' coven (meeting at The Woodman?!); St Luke's hospital; or the ghosts of The Flask pub (Highgate, rather than Hampstead). David Farrant used to pop into Muswell Hill library when I worked there - a very interesting person indeed.
David Lowery who wrote/directed The Green Knight did an episode of the Kingcast podcast about the short story. Worth a listen if you're not familiar. One of my fav king's work

Top stuff John, I'm wanting to venture this area of London sometime soon, as I think it's near a disused rail route I was reading up on.
great story
One of my favourite weird stories
I love everythink u do john
cheers Paul
You wouldn't get me walking through there now, let alone before it became a "clean, public utility". It has horror all over it. 😱
People walk their dogs there all the time!😅
Hon ! John predictive text will be the end of me!
l lived in a house in crouch end that had an empty flat above that had signs of devils worship in there
Think as about James Herbert in that area
What shoes do you wear to walk around London?
Merrill walking shoes in dry weather and Merrill boots in wet weather
Maybe you shouldn't read The Killing Doll by Ruth Rendell.......
I remember it well!
I grew up in Crouch End and I remember when tracks were still there and a man would graze his goats there😅
