The Former Whisky Capital Of The World

- Campbeltown, Scotland was once nicknamed ‘Spiritsville’ or ‘Whiskyopolis’ and even ‘The Whisky Capital of the World!’, because of the immense number of distilleries that were located there.
There were as many as 37 established during the 19th century, with 20 of those opening by 1885. Today, only three remain.
Campbeltown was once one of the richest towns per capita in all of Scotland - and yet today little is known about the history of such an important Scottish center of industry Until Now!
Campbeltown is an amazing place to make whisky. The main reason being the climate, which has a mild and temperate (for Scotland!) climate due to the caress of the Gulf Stream.
The lands around Campbeltown are fertile with a ready supply of peat and the crystal-clear Scottish waters are ideal for creating the classic Scottish drink of choice. Combine this with the influence of human ingenuity and engineering and you have a match made in whisky heaven!

🎥 Welcome to the official UA-cam Channel of Beer, Wine & Spirits 🎥
Hi, I’m Jeff Bradford. My passion for beer, wine, and spirits ignited an urge to investigate the stories behind the labels. 🍾🍻
So, in 2018, I sold everything I owned to travel the world.
My objective: to learn the secrets of brewers, winemakers, and distillers.
From Switzerland to Jalisco, I set out to determine why their process yields extraordinary results.
With each stop on the map, I reveal time-honored traditions, cultural influences, and industry practices that help you discover the soul of these incredible products.
As a former member of the US military, I learn by doing.
You’ll see me harvesting grapes in South Africa, pouring beer at Oktoberfest, and chopping agave in Tequila. 🍷 🥃
My channel is dedicated to the passionate, hardworking people who make the beverages associated with our favorite celebrations, special events and amazing moments with those we love.
Join me as I find the next fascinating story about your favorite Beer, Wine, and Spirits.
Cheers!
🎬 So, definitely subscribe to my channel and hit the bell to never miss a Video 🔔

Campbeltown is my home, altho I'm an ex-pat now, living in USA. I grew up on the same street as Glen Scotia Distillery and walked past it 4 times a day going to and from school. The smell of the warm mash was wonderful.
I'm going there in a few days, can't wait! Thank you so much for the informative video. Very interesting stuff indeed!
Enjoy! So amazing and I’m jealous. Cheers 🥃
Just found your little, beautiful documentation on on of my favourite whisky areas. Fantastic. Thank you very much.
I plan to go to Campbeltown myself in a few years time.
Cheers from Germany
So glad you enjoyed the episode! Thanks for taking the time and commenting and couldn’t agree more about Campbeltown being an amazing whisky area. Cheers, -Jeff

It’s such a great town. When it’s low tide you can actually walk over to the island of Dvaar. But make sure your back before the water rises. We tried it, but ended up raining and tide was rising. Didnt want to swim back across hahaha. Cheers
You made my mind to visit this place awsome video ♥
So awesome! It’s an amazing place and I hear another distillery is being built there. Cheers, -Jeff

I really enjoyed this overview of Campbeltown as a whisky producer, did feel a little funny having it narrated by what sounds to be an English person but they know they're stuff and that's the important thing.
Hahahahha thanks Dan. He was a member of the Campbeltown historic Center and 💯💯 agree the important thing was the info. Cheers and appreciate you taking the time and commenting. -Jeff
