There are only a handful of players who really impress with their ability to improvise with good and interesting phrasing. Matteo Mancuso, Guthrie, Per. And Per is the only guy I can think of who can do it with a metal feel and string phrases together like he's telling an entire story. His Matter of Perception improv makes me feel like I'm flying. Absolutely love his style.
Great improvisation as always! Have you thought of doing any streams here on UA-cam? I think streams with some improvisation, teaching, and so on would be greatly appreciated if you got the time for it. 😁
Per! I'm glad to see you again, you are such an inspiring musician with an exquisite style. Please release a lot of music in the short term, you have so much to offer. Greetings from Salt Lake City, Utah.
Can't wait to see you in the Netherlands, Per! You are my all time favorite musician and Scar Symmetry are my all time favorite musical group. Keep rocking brother. \m/
I've just now noticed how you start some phrases with your index finger on the picking hand to achieve a smoother tone then switch back to picking, which is very clever. Also your ability to get a full and rich vibrato with just your little finger is very impressive. That takes a great amount of finger strength. Very inspiring. Great job, Per! Thank you for sharing this.
Per, thanks for the making this! You are a fantastic musician. Everything you record is great. Your vibrato, slides and timing is your signature. Thanks again.
Man!! Seriously Per Nilsson? This is so so soooooo good my friend! Wow, your phrasing, articulation and most importantly your feel brother is just so amazing and perfect to be honest. I'm super inspired @Per Nilsson, your such a killer guitar player! I hope one day you can get a column in Guitar world, maybe instructor of the month with Riffhard shit something bro! Myself and lots of other musicians would love to pick your brain and nerd out with your awesome and inspiring playing! Thanks for uploading this improv! It is truly special and I hope Wice has seen and heard this! Let's get a clinic setup for you to come to Salt lake city, Utah in the USA!!! We need ya here brutha haha
My days touring with Meshuggah are over; I had a really good run with them and I miss them dearly but I am back where I'm supposed to be now doing my own music :)
I prefer your music and was sad you were sidelined. I'm stuck with tickets cause the shows in SF got delayed for so long. I own your Singularity guitars and the 7 is my everyday driver. You are so much more than any guitarist I've ever heard. You resonate harmoniously with me ❤️
I would like to ask a question but a lil scared, I used to just learn patterns and runs and stopped playing for a long time, what do you suggest? I was I ok, and can make music, but jamming with ppl, I’d get lost, I’d riff out but then change of keys. What I’m trying to say , as making music, and that all I want to do, should I also learn more theory or just the patterns? I say that because I can write some stuff on my own, but then sometimes I’m lost when I jam.
That is a BIG question! I think of music a lot like learning a language; on one hand it can be important to learn grammar and syntax and a big vocabulary (which would be scales, patterns, theory) but it is more important to just dive into the language/music, immerse yourself, participate with others and so on.
We need an instrumental album of yours 😁
Agreed!
I concur.
This is far more more important than world peace.
Desperately
Absolutely
I would cry tears of joy
I was so impressed I almost fell off my amazon chair
What a wonderful thing to wake up to.
Vill fan ha en melodiös, grym platta från den självaste Per Nilsson.
Per Nilsson has to be one of the modern greats. I wish he comes to India once.
I too like to jam on electronic music :) It's just a different and interesting world of moods.

we love you per
You need to make a synthwave album! 🙏
Still the master!
I've listened to this 3 times in a row! That figure at 2:40... dayum
What a pleasant surprise in my recommended!

I hope you realise how important your music is to us. You never disappoint! Keep it up Per
We are not alone in the Universe. Always amazing Per!!!

Amazing sense of melody, as always 🔥
Phew! Good stuff!! Post more please!
He’s so good at hybrid picking. That is my nemesis and kryptonite.
Brilliant as always Per! Keep them coming ;)
That’s some of the best improv you’ve ever done Per! Always an inspiration!
С любовью из Мурманска!!!! Классно!!!!
So nice to see up loads from you Per ^____^ \m/ Very cool sounding tune you made here.

One year later and I still return to this stunning improv regularly. Your playing over the vibe of this track is a match made in heaven!
Love the 80s vibe
Omg, one of my fav songs. Wice is a champ. \,,/
Yeah 🤘🔥🔥🔥
This is 🔥 🔥
Thats amazing
Awesome! Very inspiring
You are a hero. so good!
That was awesome. Sounds like synthwave is a largely untapped resource of jam-along tracks.
Yeah absolutely, I have a lot of favorites I'm gonna try to jam along to now
I'm a fan of synthwave and it is great for jamming to (as long as you're not working on your ability to play through changes lol)
Please give us solo album!
Y'know, I've always wonderes what True Temperament would look like, if they also fanned the frets. 😂
Love this track, a great surprise!
Amazing as always!
Well shit....guess i have to start going to a boxing gym now....
Wow 😍!
Fantastiskt! Så himlabra.
The man is back 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
sweet
Tack! Så j*vla bra
Absolute brilliant! Love it! I also think we need an instrumental album of yours. That would be a treat :)
absolutely beautiful phrasing per.
GET IT!
Allan Holdsworth all over that solo. Very nice!
Badass
I'd love to see a Per Nilson and Owane Collab! Up those 80's synths. Btw, what plugins do you use Per?
I mostly use Neural DSP plugins for guitar tones
I thought you'd be on tour with meshuggah right now
Fredrik came back so Per is no longer with them.
My days touring with Meshuggah are over; I had a really good run with them and I miss them dearly but I am back where I'm supposed to be now doing my own music :)
@@ScarGuitar Wonderful, I'm with you!

What’s your signal chain? Tone is awesome.
Thank you! I recorded this like a year ago so I can't really remember but most likely something-something Neural DSP
@@ScarGuitar no, thank you. You’re a huge inspiration to a lot of people. Keep doing what you do. 🤘🏻
If Marco Sfogli can put out instrumental albums, so can you!

Can you solo over something for me personally?
It's another Synthwave Song.

bend ???????
I don't bend all that much; I guess I am worried that I might break a string or something??!?
@@ScarGuitarNo .... I found the improvisation almost without bends interesting....
