I stumbled upon this FANTASTIC backing track of Allan Holdsworth's song "54 Duncan Terrace" made by Simon Peter King - check out his UA-cam channel for some really well-crafted backing tracks!

Allan recorded this song for his 1989 album "Secrets" which is probably my favourite album of his, it's just an upsettingly amazing album with some of the best instrumental performances you will ever hear. My improvisation here may be in stark contrast to the original, but you know you can't have light without darkness haha!

54 duncan terrace is one of my favorite songs ever. Probably it's majesty is hidden by other giants, but if you listen directly to the album, the fullness comes at its own grace

Thanks for heads up for the backtracks Per. Your signature Boden Singularity 7 has led me to obsession and I hope to soon have one in my hands soon. The Blue one is amazing too I just don't play 8 string but I feel as need to have both regardless cause the colors are so satisfying to my eyes when I see them together almost as if I can taste them. Weird but true. LOL!

Awesome Per, massive Holdsworth and Scar Symmetry fan here. Which neural product are you using here? Sometimes it reminds me of Metheny's synth tone. That's a compliment by the way :)
I use the Nolly plugin along with a Boss SY-1 pedal that splits the signal into a clean DI tone and a synth tone :)
Hello Per, veldigt bra ljud. Can you please tell us which tuning and string gauge you would use on those 8-strings for playing Scar Symmetry?
Thank you! Aside from a few songs, I only use 7-strings in Scar Symmetry which I tune to standard or drop-A. The few 8-string songs we have are in standard tuning. I use the gauges 009 011 016 024 032 042 056 for my 7-strings, I use the same gauges plus a 070 on my 8-strings which I tune down a half step (which is the tuning Meshuggah uses)

This is awesome really hits the spot for my Holdsworth obsession. Can anyone refer me to a chord chart of this song or tabs? I would love to learn Holdsworths composition style. I recently got “reaching for the uncommon chord.” And well there is a lot to unpack lol.
