    What's your dream Strandberg guitar?

    • @valerinaatas
      @valerinaatas 5 місяців тому +1

      26.25’ to 27’ scale 7-string Boden with a wenge and purpleheart neck, blacked out ebony board without inlays, solid elemental blue body colour, singe volume pot, treble bleed mod and non-soapbar slanted BKPs 🤌🏻 And probably just a tiny bit more weight :)

    Man this is certainly one if the best Strandberg reviews I’ve ever came across. The demo track is absolutely beautiful, detailed explanation, tones, playing and attention to details - freaking loved it! And huge thanks for the DI - it’s indeed funny how we both came up with an idea of linking it in the description within our reviews haha
    I wish every guitar gear reviewer do the same!

      Thanks a ton for checking this out man, I very much appreciate your kindness and time 🫶
      Indeed, sharing DI is quite crucial and glad both of us provided some extra for the viewers!! And totally agree that every guitar reviewer do the same!! I even thought of restringing with the same brand and gauge and play similar stuff with all of my guitars, just to give everyone a clear A/B of my gear. Of course, it would be a cumbersome job, but if we had a stock library of DI's from guitar companies, we would make wiser decisions in our tonal palette and journey :)
      Thanks a lot once again my dude 🫶

      I hope it helps! There are some demo videos for Strandberg, PRS, Ibanez and so on. I always have the same question: would it do any good on my rig or my plugins? Of course creating tone against the guitar is the right choice but still we have this question.
      Thank you so much for checking the video! I'll be restringing and setting up my wonderful PRS guitars and hopefully next reviews video will come soon if you are interested. Promise to include the DI and tone demos 😊

    I feel strandberg naturally has a ‘mid’ kind of tone. It doesn’t have that bright ringing kind of tone that gives an acoustic electric kind of feel. Although it sounds great when run through a processor.

    • @yeserguitar
      @yeserguitar  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting! I know that they have a pronounced mid, but especially for Suhr SSH+ I feel that it's bright enough and definitely response well to hi-gain setting. I'm mostly a bridge pickup guy so I wouldn't dare to give too much details on SSV, but I can tell that it's much smoother and feels kinda vintage. For lead melodies it feels great to access to it. I'm sure there are a lot of things effecting it's sound, considering it's very original design, but for pickups it's my comment. I think Prog models have better wood choice than this one, but I'm a natural finish kinda guy(hey, PRS artist here) so I made a different decision here. Maybe a nice maple cap could let highs breathe a bit.

    • @AdvancedBusinessAcademy
      @AdvancedBusinessAcademy 5 місяців тому +1

      @@yeserguitar That’s good to know! I love the natural finish ones, looks very aesthetic and attractive. Also, I’ve been in 2 minds about PRS and Strandberg! Both are great guitars and sound amazing. And the flying bird inlays of PRS are just something else, that Strandberg doesn’t have. What are your thoughts on these two? I don’t see any comparison video between them on UA-cam.

    • @yeserguitar
      @yeserguitar  5 місяців тому +1

      @@AdvancedBusinessAcademy there are not videos because I didn't make one yet :D
      I love and adore the comfort and sound of custom24 and to me it's the absolute best. My Strandberg journey started with some concerns and needs:
      - I'm a software developer and music is my hobby, a hobby that takes my up all night. Meaning that I am constantly in a sitting position and my picking and mouse-using positions, my back position is a problem. It creates too much pressure and Strandberg design is very ergonomic, helping a lot with the comfort cuts and lightweight design. Soundwise I also liked it, but just because it introduced me a different tonal palette than I used to have.
      - I needed a guitar that I can travel very easily with, and practice long times. The design also helps with that.
      - I never had a stainless steel fret guitars, it was an experiment on my and. Liked it a lot and wishing PRS had it, but Paul doesn't plan that(I have a PRS review in the channel, I mentioned it there)
      - Needed a good two way tremolo. This one doesn't have a big range, but easier to set it up. I could dig a hole in my PRS if I was crazy but no ahahah! I hate Floyd Rose, but still need some two way action for my Dream Theater, Plini and other bands/artists covers. Same goes for my original sound, I missed to have it so here it goes!
      So in the end, they are different guitars with different ranges. I know PRS is expensive but SE models are considerably cheap and perfect in craftsmanship. If I had some money and courage to experiment, I would get an SE Custom24, change electronics + pickups + tuners + SS frets and shave the neck to be satin finish. That would make it literally the perfect guitar in budget. Probably would be closer in Strandy Prog in price range, but I wanna point out that headless is not for everyone. I love it, but I'm sure there are people who don't like it, and also don't have the money/budget to access a Core series PRS. Soooo, that's my humble suggestion for a perfect blend. Hope it helps!!
      And of course, aesthetically PRS is far better than any Strandberg or other companies that you'll see. For headless design, my personal favorite is customized Kiesel and Mayones designs because they give a lot of options to choose from. Strandberg doesn't provide that, if they do I would make a perfect Strandy for myself but it won't happen so..

      @@yeserguitar thanks for such a detailed response mate! Appreciate it. And yeah I totally love the PRS, maybe I could take some things off the Strandberg and put in the PRS or the other way round haha. That would be the ideal guitar then!

  • @tuhinbhattacharya6588
    @tuhinbhattacharya6588 19 днів тому +1

    Is it just me, or is the guitar’s natural sound a bit compressed? Like the sustain isn’t there, the tone has not opened up completely? The guitar doesn’t breathe fully I believe. Of course with several effects it can be brought about, but I’m talking about the raw, unprocessed sound of the guitar.
    Great video btw! Love Plini and Strandberg!

    • @yeserguitar
      @yeserguitar  19 днів тому +1

      It's great feedback, and I should also consider adding a sustain test to my tones. I didn't feel that naturally but after comparing it to my Custom24 I actually felt it, here's the same test section for that:
      ua-cam.com/video/RjjslpjoqJs/v-deo.html
      I reopened the project to make sure before replying to you. Both my UAD plugins and my effect inserts were completely off, except the tuner but it passed the signal :D
      Have you also checked the DI tones I provided via the Google Drive link? I thought it may also be a problem since UA-cam videos are not the absolute best reference points for the tones(UA-cam compression, video render compression, etc.) but again the comparison with Custom24 actually shows we have a compressed tone with the Plini! I'll do my best to remind this and give it a second try for sure. I can check it out while dialing and switch back and forth with other guitars.
      To be perfectly honest my talking level is also not the best in the video, I'm so happy that it is getting love and attention from really good people and guitarists such as yourself, but I am hoping to come up with a "1 Year with Plini" kind of video for the future. It'll be for sure smaller video but I hope to address your question in a bit more detail as well.
      I hope you have found something useful in the video! It is not a luthier kind of approach to test the guitar like Phillip McKnight with all the possible details, but my point is to provide a demo and reference tones for anyone who would be interested. And of course, my experience with the guitar, if fellow guitarists are interested in that. I'm happy that there are follow-up questions so I can think more about what should I provide next. Cheers!

      @ Man, I really appreciate the effort you put in towards making these videos! And also the level of detail you included in this comment. This shows you are truly dedicated towards creating informative content for us. Thank you so much!
      Appreciate you sharing the google drive and UA-cam links, I’ll check them out for sure!
      I have been in two minds about a PRS and a Strandberg. Both are great guitars I feel and each have their own advantages. But in the end, we are all playing for the sound and feel, everything else becomes secondary, and we learn to adjust to the minor imperfections, because the majority is so perfect. Something like the iPhone (personal opinion). There are other phones with more features, but the feel of the iPhone, the connected experiences, it just feels like a living organism. Same thing with the guitar as well I feel. Do let me know your thoughts on the PRS vs Strandberg. I haven’t found a video on UA-cam comparing that! Would be great to have your perspective on it!

    • @yeserguitar
      @yeserguitar  18 днів тому

      First of all let me thank you for kind comments, made my day!
      A good and healthy comparison from my perspective is pretty hard to give. As a disclaimer, I'm one of the PRS artists and even though my criticism won't be affected by that I should point out to be clear. I am probably one of the most "modern" PRS artist out there, since I am a big fan of the (not so) recent developments on the guitar building: SS frets, multi-scale option, satin necks regardless what finish is the body(Holcomb version has this, that's why I have 2 Holcombs hahaha) and different shapes and headless options to make the guitar as light and comfortable as possible. As a Software Developer I also spend huge time behind the desk, that is the reason I went for the Strandberg as my choice of brand while I'm searching for a good "next guitar". As it delivers everything, when I receive the Plini for the first time, I made a mistake of comparing them side by side. Mistake was comparing a guitar that I was playing for 8 years to guitar that is belong to one of my heroes but also built with a different mindset. And each guitar and spec effects comfort and tone very drastically(through the user's perception, hence the pickup discussions). Once I passed that I felt that Plini has it's own domain, which became helpful to understand when I should pick that guitar. Tonewise, Custom24 is my love. Neck comfort is invalid since EndurNeck is special, but Custom24 is the most comfortable neck to me. But EndurNeck helped fixing my mistakes, still does. Also some sections and passages in hard songs became easier after I tried them on my Plini, I guess multi-scale with the Strandy neck comes handy on certain areas. Setup-wise Strandberg is pretty easy but intonation screw is pretty weirdly placed. I can set both well in a reasonable time. Radius had a big effect, Holcomb models are 20 inch so when I got the Plini I was VERY happy to know it felt the same. Setting up a 14 inch radius Custom24 requires extra time and I don't feel natural with it.
      I cannot give a final verdict because of this, they belong to their own domain. I guess this small pros&cons list may help but as you have mentioned beautifully, from the smallest details to your utmost comfort, you will know the answer when you actually played the guitar. If you are in EU region, you can do it like me and get a Strandberg to test in 30 days. I am pretty sure you'll stick with the Strandberg after using it. I want to say the same for the PRS, but for modern players they have a lot of cons. PRS is a company of perfect QA and craftsmanship, have great guitars, comfort and tone. But I really believe, and I'm saying that as one of their artists, they don't have even a single modern guitar(including Holcomb which I proudly have 2 of them and play all the Periphery songs&solos day and night). I also suspect they would introduce these. But once you play one, PRS will bring you inside the circle and I'm sure you'll start to have doubts ahahaha
      If I finally have a budget, I'll get the SS frets and make the neck satin for Custom24, it'll solve my problems. I also want to get the BKP Polymath Bridge and PolyPaf Neck pickup, I really think it's gonna give me more bite and attack in the tone that I can use for cleaner and harmonically-enriched chugs and harsh but wild leads. That will make my Custom24 perfect but until then, here's my summary(!) for you!!

      Of course, I'm noting this one to my list to make a video! It's a long list, so I would suggest the Strandberg Setup & Maintenance playlist for starters. Their channel and Connor Kaminski's channel covers a lot regarding to setup, but I would definitely share my take on it, hopefully it'll be helpful!
