- From Hospice Austin nurse Lev Baesh describing Florence Welch's visit: I spend half of my days exhausted after working the other half as a hospice nurse. Today, I dragged myself back to Hospice Austin's Christopher House after three 12-hour shifts, to witness a gift.
True, everyday I have the opportunity to care for another human being, with the great staff I am lucky to be a part of, is a gift. Today, however, the gift was witnessing the clear joy of a room full of teenagers singing with Florence + The Machine. She and her guitarist Robert Ackroyd came to give a private concert to a young woman who missed her concert last night due to her illness. The room was full; full of joy and warmth and love and life and singing.
The best part was joining my colleagues to get a chance to weep in the presence of this gift. Weeping, all too often, takes a back seat to the act of caregiving we offer.
Thank you to Florence and your people.
Thank you to the teenagers who filled that room with life for yet another day.
And thank you to my coworkers who get it, and give it, and live it, every day we do this work.

"Such a good harmony!" She didn't know that it was going to be more than her doing something sweet for a fan. Se was doubly surprised when the group gathered around her turned into a choir. Lovely.
Can you imagine knowing you're going to die and you have a limited amount of time to live and all you want to do is go see your favorite singer live in concert but you can't because you are too sick and then they come to sing to you! It's the simple things in life that matter!
It is just really something special to watch people be kind to each other.
I know the sick girl personally, Karinya has been through alot. We used to play together when we were young about 5-6 years ago. Life is difficult, unexpected things come. Praise the lord that she got to see her favorite singer sing to her, may the lord let her be safe.
Pengbo Ma why is she in the hospice to begin with?
She had a rare bone cancer, and unfortunately passed away from this disease.
This performance brought tears to our eyes. Beautiful to see such joy.

She really is a class act isn't she? In a world where we have so many celebrities pulling the "Don't you know who I am?" card to get their way, one small act of humanity and compassion outshines them all.

I woke up to my cat peeing on my bed next to my head, and it put me in a poor mood. I felt hurt and betrayed and at the same time questioning if I had failed and brought this on, or even worse if it was a sign my cat was sick. My cat's incident has nothing to do with video, but as my day is ending watching this helped me feel more joyful. It's incredible enough that a famous band on tour would hear of a sick person having to miss their concert, it's shocking to learn they care, but it's awe inspiring to see them find the time to do this for someone that might unfortunately have even less time than them. It was beautiful to share this experience through this video.
But I have to say a lot of people should have put down their phones. Ask 1-3 people to record and share it with everyone in the room and enjoy the private concert with Florence + the Machine instead of looking at it through your phone.

How on earth did I go all of these years without knowing what an incredible woman Florence is...gifted and a heart of pure gold. And Karinya was clearly the same. This was a meeting of two special beings that had to happen.
