This ending does a great job wrapping up everyone's arcs, but man, Nebula and Drax REALLY hit me hard here. We see Nebula really smiling for the first time. We see Drax finally dance, but that's really just an external way to show that he's a dad again. The two characters I didn't think were gonna steal this movie, in fact, did.
I have related to Drax so much through this series. It feels dopey, and I can recognize that; but it really does hit me hard. I lost my family, not in the deadly fashion Drax did, and not by any choice or actions on my part; regardless, I went from years and years of being a part of a "we" to only being "me." Without going into uneeded details, the immediate aftermath of that essentially cast me from my home and sent me across the country. I found myself 900 miles from everything I'd ever known and loved, and, for the first time in my life, completely alone. That first Christmas in that state led me to a Marvel movie binge where I revisited the first 2 guardian movies. I had seen them both in theaters, and thoroughly enjoyed them; but, in this situation, I saw the writing, and particularly Drax, in a while new light. Fast forward a few years and I had clawed myself back to a place where I was able to at least move back home and be back around a few people who is loved and cared for. But I was not the same. The loss of my family, my kids, compounded by the distance and isolation of the pandemic, where even the small reprieve of a couple nights out to socialize was stripped away. That all eventually caught up to me, and I found myself unrecognizable. I had become a detroyer: of myself. To just get back home, and then see the 3rd and final act of this amazing arc: it hit me like a ton of bricks. I related so strongly with that character, but could never fully pin down why. I knew it wasn't just the superficial connection of family loss. Sure, that was a part of it, but there was still something else under the surface that I just couldn't quite grasp. Then, when Nebula told Drax that she saw who he was. That he was never meant to be this thing he'd become, that he was never meant to be a destroyer: but meant to be a father...I lost it. That was it, that internal war I had connected to all this time but simply couldn't convey. I was never meant to be this sad, cynical, negative, angry shell of a man I'd become. I was meant to be a father. And that was taken from me. I couldn't believe the emotial nuance i was seeing come to fruition in front of me. I wish seeing that display of beautifully vulnerability was the launching pad to my comeback; unfortunately, real life isn't like the movies. I'm still waiting for the re-emergence of the chance to be who I was meant to be and overcome that which circumstance was allowed to define. But one thing is for sure, I'll never forget seeing such a genuine, insightful, and caring portrayal of something only truly be relatable by so few.
Drax - Forgoing his ways of violence and rage to becoming a father again Mantis - Finally taking the opportunity to discover something for herself after only being a helper to others Gamora - Free of Thanos and finds people who care for and support her Nebula - One of the most damaged characters in history able to find peace and give people like her what she never had Peter - Is able to move on from what he lost and attempting to make the remaining time with his family worth it Rocket - Someone who was only created as a tool so that "greater" beings could be made afterwards is now the leader of the guardians. Couldn't have thought of a better ending.
Kraglin- showed to be worthy of the mantle of his, now dead, leader and use those skills for a better good And Groot- He’d the ability to show that he managed to evolve through the roots from his "father" and stop being just a simple comic relief to become a loving being and that he can pronounce other words apart from those already established (in it her words, he left his average zone to continue evolving)
One thing I appreciate about the final film of the series is that it didn't focus on mending Peter and Gamora's relationship. Instead, it aimed at resolving some deeper issues for the characters. It focused on familial love rather than romantic love and an overarching theme of finding a home or finding yourself. That's why each character conclusion is so satisfying. They each come to their own realizations and face the challenges that they've probably been avoiding their whole lives.

Can we take a moment to appreciate Groot sharing a dance with Rocket who isn't just his adoptive dad but also his dad's best friend? That to me is the absolute sweetest part of this entire scene. 🥹
@@hyperion7806 this Groot is the offspring of the original Groot from the first Guardians Of The Galaxy movie. Clearly Rocket and that Groot were very good friends.
@@hyperion7806 nope. It's a different Groot. James Gunn even confirmed that when Groot was dusting away in Infinity War, he referred to Rocket as "Dad..."
For as many beautiful moments as there are in these closing minutes, it's the look on Peter's grandfather's face when he recognizes him that gets me the most. This elderly man, who lost his daughter to illness, and within minutes lost his grandson to the unknown, spending so many decades wondering what happened. Pete's tiny, "hi grandpa" still chokes me up.
It gets me too. I'm 38 now with kids growing up, and I'm starting to learn I'm not the main character of the world, and having this movie acknowledge the grandfather that was left behind after losing his daughter and grandson really gutted me. Too often the elderly or parents/grandparents of main characters are only there to be a side character of MC's story, but they're a whole person with hopes and dreams and loss and pain of their own story. This was beautiful.
A freaking Raccoon, Tree man, and Aliens dancing to Florence and the Machines somehow makes me so grateful for my family and makes me want to be a better dad at the same time.
This scene was already phenomenal, but learning that James Gunn himself was the one performing Groot’s dancing alongside his brother (Sean was the physical reference for Rocket) makes this scene even better.
not ashamed to admit this ending makes me cry my god damn heart out every time i see it. easily the best thing the MCU ever did, maybe one of the best trilogies in movie history?
@@bthechad look i’m not going to pretend that it’s hard for a movie to make my cry but at the same time I have my standards, and the ending of this movie just gets me. and it is one of the most tonally and quality consistent trilogies out there. i like good movies what can i say
You know, I think this really shows how much Guardians stands out in maturity from the rest of the MCU. While the rest of this project is trying to lurch endlessly onwards, Guardians knows that something can never truly be great until it’s over. An ending is just as important as a beginning. And I can’t think of a better ending to this series than this. I think I’m done with superheroes now.
Well said. They were the story the entire time. Not The Avengers. That entire arc is now complete because of this movie. I don't know if they'll ever captivate us again on this level going forward. This movie ends the original MCU as we know it. Only now do we have everyone's story to build upon. This ending makes me tear up every single time. MCU will never be the same.
@@alexandernillo6371Yeah, this is why I'm willing to hear Gunn out for Superman Legacy despite Henry Cavill's departure. It sucks that he's gone, but James Gunn proved with both the Guardians trilogy and The Suicide Squad that he knows damn well what he's doing.

This ending😢😢😢😢...mannn to see Rocket Raccoon dancing...Gamora accepting compassion..that moment between Mantis and Drax before she sets off on her own journey...Adam taking it in and truly understanding the moment and finding his purpose...Quill taking a chance and learning how to swim......and MY GOD Nebula laughing and dancing and letting her emotion overtake her and finally relaxing and letting down her guard.....Drax finally dancing and that freedom Rocket finally expresses in that howl..........…If you've followed these characters and movies(not just their films but all of them) you just understand that THIS is and was the story all along. To display joy after all Rocket and Nebula have been through touches us in ways we didn’t think possible. And btw that score was the perfect song selection to encapsulate how ALL of us were feeling watching the masterful storytelling in this scene. Bravo and well done James Gunn..well done. I honestly never have to watch anything else they release in the MCU.
Also, the song "Dog Days Are Over" is a song about childhood or a journey ending, but it celebrates the journey and know that another will soon come. The Guardians we know are gone but now a new chapter has arrived.
Seeing in the theater was honestly surreal as hell. It's probably the only time I've actually fully cheered in a cinema, and I wasn't the only one. It was a full celebration, everyone was laughing and dancing, some got out of their seats to relish in the good feeling. The good feeling. That's what this movie gave to me, and that's why I'll always be indebted to it and James Gunn.
I love guardians of the galaxy! They were not your typical comic book heroes like Captain America or Iron Man. They were different and that’s what I loved about them so much. There were a lot of scenes in this movie that made bawl like a baby. This ending was so beautiful I couldn’t stop smiling and crying tears of joy. It was hard for me to say goodbye, but I know I will probably see these guys soon. Thank you James Gunn for making the Guardians!
When the first film came out, I was in high school about to enter the 11th grade When the second film came out, I was in college When this movie came out, I was a grown up in a working job This trilogy (combined with their arcs in Infinity War/Endgame felt like my time becoming a grown up)
GOTG Vol. 1: I was in the summer before my second college year. GOTG Vol. 2: I was in another college, yet later saw part of it away from home with a friend of mine back in 2023. GOTG Vol. 3: I was away from home before my internship.
When the first movie came out, I was about to enter high school and it got me into loving film When the second film came out I was a junior in high school When Infinity War came out, I had just graduated High school And when Vol 3 came out I was working my first job. This franchise was my teen/Young adult years
I liked this ending because it’s sad but not in a way that’s downer because of a major character death or what not. This movie was about new beginnings finding your own wings and starting a new path. Rocket literally refused death because he knew he had a purpose to bring the team together to face his past. Star lord was able to move on from gamora’s death and realize he needs to self reflect on himself. Drax learned that he doesn’t have to be a destroyer and it’s okay to let some of your fun dad side out. So on and so forth. The song “dog days are over.” Is about leaving your old home behind and being sad about it but generous of where life takes you and that fits this ending perfectly. Just seeing the characters who are now broken up and no longer the guardians once knew still celebrate being alive and new opportunities and being in the moment dancing is a perfect end to the trilogy. Guardians 3 was such a great ending and honestly I’m fine if this is the end of these characters. It was a perfect one
Considering how dark and disturbing this movie is at times, this was loiterally the best way to end it AND the trilogy possible. This is also the best movie scene of 2023, and one of the best comic book movie scenes of all time.
2:58 there are very few times where I’ll cry during a movie, tv series, game, or anime, but this along with Yandu’s Sacrifice from volume 2 makes me cry every time I see them.
Man this scene really does make me tear up no matter how many times I watch it. The GOTG were one of my first introductions to comics as a kid and I still remember how excited 14 year old me was when the first movie came out. James Gunn really managed to take a group of characters hardly anyone had ever heard of and turned them into the MCU's best characters. Will always love this trilogy.
The old Gamora would’ve loved dancing there with her family. This feels like their proper goodbye to her. Hopefully the new one will be happy with whatever path is for her, but at least she knows she has people who’s got her back.
Excellent ending, loved Guardians of the Galaxy 3, we got to say goodbye to all these amazing characters we had been watching for a decade, it wrapped up thier arcs perfectly, Drax and Mantis waving goodbye gets me emotional each time. I will confess this scene made me cry. You can feel so much from this alone, and how much of an impact it has. It just shows how far they've come, and how they affected each other. It's beautiful.❤
genuinely might be the best ending to an mcu film... ever ? it capped off the guardians films in a truly wonderful (and in character with the previous films, _of course_ the trilogy well-known for incredible soundtracks and a dance-off in the middle of the final battle of the first film would end with some type of dance party) way, all of them alive, maybe not happy, but on their way there, concluded character arcs, but also left room for others to continue growing. and to echo the sentiment of another commenter, but is something i've felt since my own first viewing, it's just really cathartic. a really cathartic ending to a good movie and a wonderful trilogy

I'll admit I bawled watching Peter's grandpa hug him seeing this in the theater. He thought his grandfather was either dead or wouldn't want him anymore and to see him react like that to Peter being alive all these years is pure James Gunn knowing how to kick audiences in the gut emotionally. He does this repeatedly with great writing and characters yet people are seriously doubting his ability to tackle Superman? I think Gunn may be the only person to give us an actual Superman story anymore.
I don't cry from movies often. This got the ugliest tears from me, but with a smile. Not a single Guardian had to die to get that reaction either. That's amazing. I’m so excited for what Gunn will do for DC.

Everytime I see this it just fills me with such wholesome warmth. I mean all the kids being free, Gamora back with the Ravagers, Groot & Rocket dancing with the kids, & Quill finally reuniting with his grandpa. Plus the song is just the cherry on top
How the grandfather immediately knew that Pete was his grandson was so touching. He was familiar with his daughter's likeness he automatic recognized his baby girls' son.

It's hard to describe how this scene made me feel. Even though it's a Guardians movie, to me it felt like the release of emotion I'd needed since Endgame. This scene was a chance to celebrate with our characters, grieve with them, and just let it all out one last time. Bless ye, Guardians of the Galaxy.
Florence and the machine. The dog days are over. One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard and one I wish I'd heard sooner. This movie was so beautiful, I hadn't cried harder in my life. This was the only way it should end. Tying up lose ends in a way that made perfect sense for all.
I saw this movie and cried not only because it’s ended but because my dad wasn’t able to see it and seeing quill hug his grand father was like the last hug I couldn’t get from my dad before he passed he loved the guardians and the galaxy and I believe that he would had loved the film not to mention the fact that it was my highschool graduation and it’s was like another chapter opening up for me

Rest in peace to your friend 😢💔💔
That is such a sweet memory. My condolences
Can we take a moment to appreciate Groot sharing a dance with Rocket who isn't just his adoptive dad but also his dad's best friend? That to me is the absolute sweetest part of this entire scene. 🥹
Gunn even confirmed that when teen groot blipped he turned to rocket and said "dad"
Wdym his dad's best friend? I'm confused
@@hyperion7806 this Groot is the offspring of the original Groot from the first Guardians Of The Galaxy movie. Clearly Rocket and that Groot were very good friends.
@@DeadmanInc336 ohhh, I’ve never thought about it like that. I’ve always thought of Groot as the same character through all the movies
@@hyperion7806 nope. It's a different Groot. James Gunn even confirmed that when Groot was dusting away in Infinity War, he referred to Rocket as "Dad..."
Greatest way to end this trilogy, the song choice, the dancing, the wild howling, the reintroduction of old family. Gets me every time.
Florences voice was perfecttttt!!! This ending might've sold me on James gunn
Couldn't disagree more.
That was pretty damned cool. The raw video without any effects was great!!!
_“I went back and got this for you, Pete”_
-Star-Lord’s letter to Rocket with his Zune.
That freaking CGI Raccoon finally being happy and howling with joy makes my cry
James Gunn Moment
He is not raccoon
@@Skibidimameyyes he is. He admitted such in this very movie.
@@Skibidimameyyou’re right, he’s not a raccoon, he’s Rocket Raccoon
@@Skibidimameyhe’s a rabbit
I'm sad to see them split up, but the pure joy in this scene was the perfect send off. Drax finally dancing was just so great.
not ashamed to admit this ending makes me cry my god damn heart out every time i see it. easily the best thing the MCU ever did, maybe one of the best trilogies in movie history?
it was good but don’t get too carried away now
i start sobbing every single time
This is one of the only two movies that has ever made me cry the other one was infinity war
@@bthechad look i’m not going to pretend that it’s hard for a movie to make my cry but at the same time I have my standards, and the ending of this movie just gets me. and it is one of the most tonally and quality consistent trilogies out there. i like good movies what can i say
100% agree
The dog days are over but this isn't
Makes me very excited on what gun can do with the DCU
And it didn't just give us an ending. It gave us the happiest ending imaginable.
I can never hold back tears everytime I see Drax and Mantis wave goodbye. Love these characters so much
For some reason, it is always seeing Drax dance
Ending on a dance party for this series was the right choice and wraps up Gunn's beautiful world. Thank you Guardians for the good times.
This is one of the most satisfying and emotionally gripping endings of the MCU
Endgame had the best (comeback) fight, but Guardians 3 had the best ending
This was great but Endgame had the best credits
So good.
The fact that Rocket adopted the baby raccoons is soooo pure!! 😢❤❤
Also I'm LIVING for Drax adopting those little kids.
Very wholesome.
2:17 this part made my heart melt seeing Pete Quill just walking around the neighborhood looking for his grandpa and mixed with the song i love it
🕺🏽 😂😂😂😂
3:36 love that now drax can be a dad again
My friend said drax is just an idiot. He is but this what makes him drax! I love how this movie shows his kind and protective side! Especially this scene!
That’s an awful lot of kids. Is he really going to raise all of them by himself?
@@jaylenhioe2868he is a dad.

A perfect ending to a movie trilogy that truly did not need the MCU to survive. It was a masterpiece of its own. Thank you, Mr. James Gunn.
I really love those screams at the end, it’s like their letting out shouts that are a combination of anger, frustration, happiness, and excitement over what tomorrow is gonna bring
I think they're all cries of joy and happiness. Just like the song says: "The dog days are all gone..."
One of the most Beautiful Endings i have seen reminds me of Return of the Jedi from 1983 it brings full closure to Rocket he is easily one of the Best MCU Characters hands down
This ending😢😢😢😢...mannn to see Rocket Raccoon dancing...Gamora accepting compassion..that moment between Mantis and Drax before she sets off on her own journey...Adam taking it in and truly understanding the moment and finding his purpose...Quill taking a chance and learning how to swim......and MY GOD Nebula laughing and dancing and letting her emotion overtake her and finally relaxing and letting down her guard.....Drax finally dancing and that freedom Rocket finally expresses in that howl..........…If you've followed these characters and movies(not just their films but all of them) you just understand that THIS is and was the story all along.
But look at all those star children. Is everyone on knowhere going to raise them?
@InevitableOption-ic2vx that’s what I’m saying
lmao u already know Marvel gonna recast them and make more guardians movies
Nebula’s storyline is perfect 😭😭💙
Seeing in the theater was honestly surreal as hell. It's probably the only time I've actually fully cheered in a cinema, and I wasn't the only one. It was a full celebration, everyone was laughing and dancing, some got out of their seats to relish in the good feeling.
The good feeling. That's what this movie gave to me, and that's why I'll always be indebted to it and James Gunn.
This ending makes you both happy and sad at the same time. Wholesome.
It's a cute goodbye
It's called "bittersweet"
I love guardians of the galaxy! They were not your typical comic book heroes like Captain America or Iron Man. They were different and that’s what I loved about them so much. There were a lot of scenes in this movie that made bawl like a baby. This ending was so beautiful I couldn’t stop smiling and crying tears of joy. It was hard for me to say goodbye, but I know I will probably see these guys soon. Thank you James Gunn for making the Guardians!
When the first film came out, I was in high school about to enter the 11th grade
When the second film came out, I was in college
When this movie came out, I was a grown up in a working job
This trilogy (combined with their arcs in Infinity War/Endgame felt like my time becoming a grown up)
GOTG Vol. 1: I was in the summer before my second college year.
GOTG Vol. 2: I was in another college, yet later saw part of it away from home with a friend of mine back in 2023.
GOTG Vol. 3: I was away from home before my internship.
When the first movie came out, I was about to enter high school and it got me into loving film
When the second film came out I was a junior in high school
When Infinity War came out, I had just graduated High school
And when Vol 3 came out I was working my first job. This franchise was my teen/Young adult years
well i just got into 10th grade so yeah
@@marciafemista Awesome!
Good timing! Nice parallel.
One of the best endings in Marvel Studios.
Guardians of the Galaxy will always be a beautiful movie and will always be a nostalgic movie
3:18 I love him so much, finally a father again & ready for love
Man this scene really does make me tear up no matter how many times I watch it. The GOTG were one of my first introductions to comics as a kid and I still remember how excited 14 year old me was when the first movie came out. James Gunn really managed to take a group of characters hardly anyone had ever heard of and turned them into the MCU's best characters. Will always love this trilogy.
The old Gamora would’ve loved dancing there with her family. This feels like their proper goodbye to her. Hopefully the new one will be happy with whatever path is for her, but at least she knows she has people who’s got her back.
This was the TRUE endgame to the MCU
Congratulations to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 for winning this year's 2024 Saturn Awards for Best Comic Book Superhero movie
Me: What About The Avengers?
Although Across the Spider-Verse was better, this is a well deserved honor for this movie.
Excellent ending, loved Guardians of the Galaxy 3, we got to say goodbye to all these amazing characters we had been watching for a decade, it wrapped up thier arcs perfectly, Drax and Mantis waving goodbye gets me emotional each time. Beautiful ending sequence, the choice of using the “Dog days are Over” song was great, such a feel good ending ❤
This is literally me and my best friends, we just graduated high school this year and now we’re going are separate ways 😢 I’m so glad this movie came out on are last year it felt like it was meant for us thank you so much James Gunn for this beautiful movie
The only movie that could made me burst into tears from screams of joy. All the farewells and welcomes was what we needed from a series so focused finding your place in the world and self love. ❤
I can't help but cry every time, it just breaks me.
I will confess this scene made me cry. You can feel so much from this alone, and how much of an impact it has. It just shows how far they've come, and how they affected each other. It's beautiful.❤
my bro and I were trying to hide our tears.... what an experience this was
2:43 it is so inspired to have the song kick back in before showing the audience that Pete is at the right house.
3:42 I never seen Nebula this happy before and it’s nice that she’s happy, good for her☺️
genuinely might be the best ending to an mcu film... ever ? it capped off the guardians films in a truly wonderful (and in character with the previous films, _of course_ the trilogy well-known for incredible soundtracks and a dance-off in the middle of the final battle of the first film would end with some type of dance party) way, all of them alive, maybe not happy, but on their way there, concluded character arcs, but also left room for others to continue growing. and to echo the sentiment of another commenter, but is something i've felt since my own first viewing, it's just really cathartic. a really cathartic ending to a good movie and a wonderful trilogy
I was in a restaurant yesterday and this song started playing. I suddenly started crying remembering this scene 💔
3:09 is SO beautiful 😭
"Its enough to make a grown man cry...
*...and that's okay."*
I unironically can't think of any other time I've cried from sheer joy at the ending of a movie, this entire trilogy is so damn special.
Peter meeting his grandpa (after he thought his family had left him) is an amazing and emotional scene.
I remember watching Vol 1 with my wife, sadly she passed away afterwards. This scene will always remind me of her. Thank you🙏🏾
Peter going home made me sob my eyes out the most. I’m so glad he still had some little bit of family out there.
I’ve come to the conclusion that this is a better ending than Endgame.
And they've overcome their individual and collective traumas, conquered their nightmares and lived happily ever after. The End..
Perfect.
This wasn't a film, it was a Victory lap.
I was happy to see drax dance. It means he finally let go of the pain of losing his family.
For me this is my favourite Marvel movie ending.
I love how Rocket piped the song all over Knowhere..
1:13 that scene hit me really hard when drax said goodbye to mantis like I cried bad 😢
Hahaha your comment made me realize he was crying , had to watch it again to kind of see it.❤️👊✌️👍🙏
@@batman1796yeah like when I was in the theater watching it when I saw that part I cried to myself cuz I didn't want my brother to be like why you crying at this movie for
Out of all the marvel movies the guardians films are the only ones that really felt like a warm celebration of human connection, art and life. So beautiful, so perfect.
Its been 1 year and this movie still hits hard 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Still get goosebumps when Peter and his grandfather hug
The part where peter is walking through the neighbourhood was literally my favorite part of the entire movie. The feeling of just being at earth after watching a movie that is set in space is just so beautiful
Guardians was the absolute best of the MCU. Period.
Guardians 1 was the last movie I ever watched with my grandpa. He’d never seen it but he loved rocket. Going on 5 years, fly high grandpa.
I will never forget the first time I saw this film in the cinema, it was one of the best days of my life, what a feeling
I teared at this ending when I saw this in Theatres

Everytime I see this it just fills me with such wholesome warmth. I mean all the kids being free, Gamora back with the Ravagers, Groot & Rocket dancing with the kids, & Quill finally reuniting with his grandpa. Plus the song is just the cherry on top
How the grandfather immediately knew that Pete was his grandson was so touching. He was familiar with his daughter's likeness he automatic recognized his baby girls' son.
I commented this a month ago but who else has this song stuck in their head after seeing this in the movie celebrating the guardians? I LOVE IT
This is the saddest ending to a movie I have seen.. the song choice was perfect.. I cry every time I watch it because this defined me.. James Gunn is one of the best directors of all time.. this is perfect!!! Thank u for this!!!
Man, rocket and nebula's character development after infinity war till now was AMAZING.
This scene of Peter meeting his grandfather in Portuguese burns people's hearts, the voice actor's voice when doing the scene is very beautiful
"There are two types of beings in the universe. Those who dance, and those who do not."
It's so simple, but that scene of Pete and his grandpa reuniting gets me to cry every time
The song "Dog Days Are Over" perfectly reflects on the end of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It's such a shame they broke up after everything😢
You don't need to physically be together to stay a family.
This song of Florence and the machine made the final scene what it was
According to TV Tropes this would be an example of a "Dance Party Ending."
I saw this movie and cried not only because it’s ended but because my dad wasn’t able to see it and seeing quill hug his grand father was like the last hug I couldn’t get from my dad before he passed he loved the guardians and the galaxy and I believe that he would had loved the film not to mention the fact that it was my highschool graduation and it’s was like another chapter opening up for me
In fact, the ending is very touching, I watched this movie after I separated from my friends after graduating from college. And this finale touched me very much, because it is vital for me as for others. And I was very touched and happy to watch this movie.
