Was in Lidl yesterday Rob, went in for aerosol spray paint and came home with digital vernier calipers instead. Lovely weighty set in a case for £9.99. They had no paint so didn't want a wasted trip.👍
Hey Rob , It never ceases to amaze me how you (and others) talk to the camera as if you are talking to us person to person....... its a learnt skill I know but well done..... Thanks as always for the video.
I dont know what the parkside one is like but I bought a cheap one off of Fleabay.......Its a good little thing and really handy for cuttting shapes out of sheet metal!
Hah !!! … Small world .. suffered almost exactly same fate 😂😂 … only difference being my shopping list of just bread and ham. Should all Lidl stores have a large government health warning plastered over the entry doors?? … “Warning .. entry to middle of Lidl is not recommended for anyone with a severe tool disorder” Ooops … that could be misinterpreted 😂😂 … would it be better to use the word “habit” ?? … probably not 🥺
For an average man about the house the parkside range is great. It's not a pro tool but it's not bad either for the money. I found a cheap set of screw drivers l bought was pure chocolate but a got a bit set for a cordless and was very surprised how well it done.
As you say, for average work around the house / shed will be ok but anything tougher? Not so sure but if you are happy with them then no worries. I invested in Dewalt 18v brushless system but I prob use them more as I'm renovating my house and garden and with a log burner cutting the wood is simple with recip or jigsaw.👍
To test them head to head with your old tools, grind the end off a long screwdriver bit so it has a hex at each end. Then put on end in the new tool and the other in the the old version, set the torque to maximum and depress the triggers. The wrist that gets broken is the one holding the weaker tool.
Parkside tools kick arse for the price and don't worry about the sparking, the brushes have to wear in, if anything it shows them brushes are brand new never been used...
It's completely normal for brushed tools to spark, particularly straight out of the box. I've had a mooch around but couldn't find the bogof battery deal. For drills and drivers you don't really need anything bigger than 2ah. If you are just a diy guy, pottering in the shed, you're unlikely to be swapping out batteries all.day long. It's only for sanders, circular saws, grinders and the like where you really benefit from the longer runtime. I bought a couple of the 4ah batteries for the excellent cordless Parkside vacuum. Anyway, enjoy the new toys!😉
That vacuum is a beast! Using it for a few months in the shed and it’s amazing. So good the mrs tried to nick it for the house! I bought her the baby version so she is happy. Would recommend the vacuum
I asked a maintenance guy at work about a grinder that sparked every time it was switched off, he said whenever you make or break a circuit there is a small spark and not to worry about it.
Parkside tools, and their Aldi equivalent carry 3 year warranties, I believe. This outstrips warranty offered by ALL the major hand tool brands. The TUV test, like our old BSI is a strict test to pass, so you know youregetting quality
Forget about Marita dewalt etc these tools are ace, been using mine for 2 years daily for work and they are still going strong, use the sds drill for 600mm long 20 mm bits and they just sail through everything. If you lose them or they get nicked no hardship for 20 notes a piece, just wish you could get the brushless pro versions in the uk.
Cheers Rob, great fun as always, I bought into the 20v system earlier in the year, not for DIY so far (very happy with my Bosch 12v tools) but bought a grass trimmer and hedge trimmer, both perfectly adequate and cheap enough to leave at the allotment between visits !
Hi Rob, I see you got the weekly shop and no bread involved, that is what you call a proper shop. I did see these at my local Lidl in a neighbouring village, the impact driver and drill looks good I did buy a can of Parkside silicone spray needed to spray the cables on the up and over garage door and quick spray on the door hinges on my old Toyota. It a shame the battery charger is not cordless.........lol.. It looks a decent charger and charges two at a time I wouldn't worry about the sparking from the drill it's probably a brushed motor, my electric drills do that. Nice set of impact and torx bits I'm not putting my name down it wouldn't be fair I bought a pack last Tuesday , haven'y use them yet. Have fun in the shed mate and catch you soon Take care
That screwdriver bit set would come in handy for a little project my wife has thought of for me! Trying to make a !glasshouse/potting shed in between two small garden sheds! Going to be a LOT of fun!!!!
Thanks M8. I've gone through a mountain of those bit sets. Lost count of the contains of the survivors, (the ones that never got used!) kicking about in the tool boxes, bags and cluttering the back of the shelves. Now I buy the 5 or 10 pack of the P2, 1, or Torx bit when i get down to 2 left. May have to sling a leg over my e-bike and go check the center aisle tomorrow. Take care & stay safe.
I’d get the impact driver changed me , my dewalt impact was making a big bang inside the gears every time I’d let go of throttle, screwfix swapped it the same day for me they said there’s definitely something wrong with it but this new one works bang on happy days
Thanks mate.. and cheers for the feedback 👍 I’m tempted to take it back anyway and replace , just to see if another is the same.. I’ll report back 😉👍 cheers Rob
I have both those units and they have both sparked from new and are years old now, nothing to worry about. One tip don't bother using the magnetic bit holders as you will just end up losing your bits.
I did wonder that buddy .. I’m gonna swap it anyway , and live with whatever the next one is like ! Much appreciated comments .. it helps us all . Cheers Rob
Very enjoyable video. thank you for sharing. I bought Bosch when i first started getting tools. They may be the only ones that does not have battery indicators on them. So annoying.
I was in Lidl the other day and they had their Parkside t-shirts of sale, was very tempted ;) :) We don't buy the tools when we need them, we buy them when they are at the right price, then we wait for the need to catch up ;)
The sparks on that impact driver reminded me of the ray gun i had has a child..they were the special effects back in the day...I think i should have the bits as i work in a school and they never have expensive bits so we can put them through a propper test review for you..thanks for the video.
I've had the 71 piece driver set for 5+ years now, abused in an impact driver, drills and the 12v combi drill / driver (removable drill chuck) not had a problem with any of the bits, the case though is a different matter. talking about battery cases at work today I swapped some DeWalt XR 18v cases over, we had 2 that were not taking / holding a charge (green 18250's) to replace some cracked cases (pink 18250's) some rubber bumpers would be advantagious for us lol
Love Lidl here in the states. Very few power tools in the aisles lately. I’d put in for your contest but shipping here is probably too expensive. I have a couple of the Einhell tools which are basically Parkside as well as a some of the Lidl Parkside stuff. Sees like good tools for the price for sure.
Would love the screwdriver bits for my zero budget shed build, and I'll definitely review as youve inspired me to start a UA-cam channel documenting the build!
Had the drill for a couple of years and no issues and an older version maybe 4-5yrs, same, working fine for hobby diy stuff. The impact, I can't comment as I got it about 1yr ago as a driver/battery and charger kit but not used it apart from pulling the trigger 🤔 Had opportunities to use it but forgot I had it until too late 👀 I also noticed the charger mentions 8ah batteries but I've never seen them being sold in Lidl 🤔 Got the 4ah batteries on Thursday but tempted to get another pair as the offer finishes on the 16th, reason being is that quite a few of my batteries are the older PAP 20 A3, not the newer PAP 20 B3 (B3 = Balancing, older A3 non balancing) Fun vlog to watch after working a long Sunday, thank you and look forward to your future testing on the impact, Richy 😀👍
Cheers Ricky.. great comments and feedback👌.. it’s good for us all to hear (good and bad) feedback) before making a decision on buying , great stuff, cheers Rob 👍
Drills spark because they are brushed motors. Most of the big brands have moved into brushless motors now. Brushless motors are more efficient, last longer and require less maintenance, but all come at a cost. If you buy cheap drills, then likely you will have ed up with a brushed motor
From what I've seen, brushless motors are not lasting longer. They require sophisticated electronics to control the motors, which fail more than what I have seen from most of my brushed motor tools. When they fail, you cannot get the motor control part, or if you can, the cost of the replacement part does not make it worth it. I believe there are advantages to brushless tools but longevity does not seem to be one of them.
Yes indeed noisy.. mixed opinions in the comments.. the light comes on different to the drill.. stays on but goes off with delay .. the drill goes off immediate when released . Big thanks for your comments 😃👍 Cheers Rob
High Rob.I wonder if in time all that rubber coating will start getting tacky ? Most of it does! Just saying!!! I was thinking about getting the impact but the 1/4 “ chuck put me off… cheers matey. Rob kibbler .
Hi M8,like yourself i love Parkside tools, regarding the cordless impact driver, about 6/7 years ago a guy on UA-cam did a test on impact drills and the Parkside drill did very well against the well known big boys, then they became very hard to come by,soon as they came into my local store they were gone in a flash, one day i was looking through ebay and they were flogging them for stupid money,it took me until i retired to get one, sorry two,a few months ago they were going for £19.99,so i bought one, they then went down to £14.99,went shopping this morning bought a LED cordlessTask light,l then could see the drills back up to £29-99,l think these ones are upgraded models?.keep up the good work.
Hi mate .. fantastic comments 😃🙌😃 big thanks for sharing your tools experiences, especially on the parkside impact driver ! it helps all us sheddies 👍👍 cheers Rob 👍
I should receive the screwdriver bit, because the eBay hawks bought them all to re-sell for a extortionate price,go look at the prices they want for the drills and batteries……..great vid again
Just been to Lidl, I’d been considering buying some 20v tools and batteries, my local Lidl didn’t have the BOGOF sign up, but at the till it came up, did same bought 3X 4ah batteries and the double charger 👍 They were cheap enough even without BOGOF, absolute steal with it 👍
If I were you I'd take the impact driver back it should sound more like the drill as mine does, (I have the same impact driver) the brushes sparking is quite common on Parkside tools. Another tip if you ever see the 20v Parkside heat gun don't buy it it's rubbish unless you need a hair dryer.
I have the 20v heat gun, works fine for me, at least as far as heat shrink and warming altro flooring so it's flexible? Now the 20V soldering iron I have is pretty useless, it pulses the heat and isn't consistent, I guess quality varies a lot, I have had to return a fair few parkside tools over the years 🤔
@@Dirt-Diggler you’re right about heat shrink it does work for that and warming but it’s not great for what I bought it for which was for removing paint from wood
Yeah I going to swap for another .. if the same I’ll stick with it.. many others have said there’s does and has worked for years ! Cheers for advice mate👍
I would make real good use of the bits, always need a new size or to replace a worn out one because I am in the middle of a house renovation and my local Lidl is getting a good chunk of my money, they're great for a non-pro DIYer like me (and I've not managed to destroy any yet)
Looks like you’ve started another Shed Head Saga. You must like making work for yourself! Now we need a follow up to find out what happens with the dodgy impact driver. Great work keep em coming.
ive gotta say this mr shed head i have the same obsession for parkside tools i even have parkside t shirts and trousers ....and ive just bought the latest t shirt with the image of a drill on it.....its one of them moments in the middle isle of lidl do i need it ?????? answer i may do so sod it ill buy it then weeks down the line your glad that you did.......PARKSIDE TOOLS TOP QUALITY...
i live on isle of man and god i wish we had lidl and aldi here. every time i come over i binge buy stuff to bring home and seeing this makes me want to come over and get some more toys :)
Rob- I believe you have a defective impact driver- The light should not come on until the trigger is depressed and the sparking brushes might be a side effect of a short. Before the initial warranty (store return) runs out go and exchange it for a new one. 😃👍
Great advice John.. I did go back and check and the light comes on but does go out with a delay .. once trigger pushed.. the other goes off immediately 🤔 I’m gonna swap it and see what the next is like… I’ve noticed some very mixed comments so far on the parkside impact driver .. may be the luck of the draw 🤔 cheers buddy 😉👍
I brought the mains leaf blower / sucker. Brilliant. £24.99 They also have a battery one .but I already have aldi batteries. I wonder if the aldi batteries will fit lidl tools? Great videos Kev
Got to say love watching your videos as i live in Spain and it's interesting to see to what offers you can pick up compared to over here , may well look into those battery offers here and consider buying myself , have a good one
Haha love the acting! Oh and if you don't use the belt holder you can replace it with a bit holder (can be handy at times). The giveaway part: Why should i get the bits sent to me? I probably shouldn't to be honest 😆 Sure i would have use for them in my "new storage basement shed" as wife wont let me have the old set down there. But honestly i think it would be better if someone that actually can do a proper review on them would get it to benefit us all Keep the great videos coming!
Bought the impact driver put it in shed had stroke and other things got a bit better pulled shed down to fit new one .impact driver stolen, hope it was as lucky for thief .
I think you get the spark because it is a brushed motor and due to watching your extendable mirror and magnet from the middle. I went into Lidl and came home with tarpaulin clips 🤦🏼
Im really thinking 🤔 of buying a cordless Circular saw ... Q ? could i fit a Quality BLADE on ... Q ? ..is the base plate True & Square . or should i just buy a reconditioned quality brand Hikiko, dewalt , Milwaukee.
I've always found cordless hammer drills a bit rubbish to be honest ! corded drills fine, but cordless SDS drills that's a different story, ever since my first experience with SDS in the 90s i've kind of never looked back !
Cracking video. I have an older Parkside Drill (with hammer), a impact driver and a newer drill (also with hammer - well I sure it has - will check). I am a DIYer and I think that they are really good tools. Please don't consider me for the bit giveaway as I have far too many bits and I don't have any big projects coming up to really give them a test, my opinion of cheaper bits is that they tend to wear quicker, but as a back-up or set to leave at my mum's so that I am not taking up so much and forget to take the simple things - they are great for that. Point to note, for the impact driver you can get impact screwdriver bits that are normally black in colour (assume this is hardening), Lidl do these as I got them a while back.
Great advice mate.. and thank you, yeah for the DIYer they seem good.. no hammer action in this one .. I had to check again.. but no biggie! Cheers Rob
Have got parkside tools the only thing i say is crap is the petrol chainsaw heats up on the plactic cover so plastic and metal dont go together been in touch with lidl and they dont want to no so please dont get the petrol chainsaw as they dont want to no
I copy this off Google - Striking at 3,200 blows per minute (BPM), this action is the driver behind the tool's high torque output. A drill/driver powers a constant 550 in/lbs of torque at about 1,500 rotations per minute (RPMs) with permanently engaged gears for high-speed hole drilling or driving simple fasteners.16 Mar 2022
A couple of weeks back I was perusing the middle isle and they were selling their 12v multi-head drill/driver for £5.99 or £6.99! I only didn't get it because they had no batteries in store and I already have a Milwaukee FDDX but god damn, I would have felt like a criminal if I'd bought it for that price.
Hi Rob, that impact driver does sound a bit’notchy’. Is it a 13mm chuck on the drill driver, also is the chuck a centre screw fixing in case you need to change. Cheers mate. Nigel

High Rob.I wonder if in time all that rubber coating will start getting tacky ? Most of it does! Just saying!!! I was thinking about getting the impact but the 1/4 “ chuck put me off… cheers matey. Rob kibbler .
Thanks Rob, good point on tacky rubber, however it seems good! .. I’ll put it through the paces , let’s see, cheers Rob
I need these because I've not had a good screwing for years 😮
Sorry for delay , 😂😂👍 cheers
Also sounds like a bearing is on its way out already
I’ve swapped it now mate.. still sparking, but sounds loads better 😃👍 cheers Rob
I would have thought Parkside would make the power tools brushless by now.
Me also 😉 cheers Rob
Great video :) and you defo have an addition to Parklife but love seeing what available ;)
😂cheers mate .. sea of green one day 😂 but I may change brand yet.. who knows , cheers Rob
Yes mate glasses on a band work and very useful. Are we old or just sensible. 😅
Well I’m not sensible so… 😂😂 cheers mate
Hi, have you used the 20v 270 orbital sander, if so any good.
Sorry for delay , not yet mate.. 😉 cheers Rob
I should receive the screwdriver bit, because the eBay hawks bought them all to re-sell for a extortionate price,go look at the prices they want for the drills and batteries……..great vid again
Nice reason mate 👌
Yes same with 12v multi tool batteries being sold on eBay three times the price mi local Lidl has loads of multi tools no one buying
@@jimrobinson5448 can’t get the power lol
Just been to Lidl, I’d been considering buying some 20v tools and batteries, my local Lidl didn’t have the BOGOF sign up, but at the till it came up, did same bought 3X 4ah batteries and the double charger 👍
They were cheap enough even without BOGOF, absolute steal with it 👍
Glad you got sorted mate👍 thanks for sharing 👍 cheers Rob
Bought the drill a couple of years ago. Used it for a month and the front end fell apart (drill bit holder)
Oh 😬 I’ll look out for that.. much appreciated comment , it will help me and others , cheers Rob
Keep the tools going. It helps a great deal 👍
That's the plan! Cheers buddy 👍
here in the USA Ihave a couple of parkside tools I`m waiting for my local Lydl to offer the brushless tools
Cool to hear this buddy.. didn’t realise there was as much parkside over the pond.. yeah be good to see the brushless 👍 cheers Rob
@@neilfraser6646 Ah, not tried it on that lol, i have managed to burn my hand, twice 🤣
Yeah I going to swap for another .. if the same I’ll stick with it.. many others have said there’s does and has worked for years ! Cheers for advice mate👍
Well Rob, they are rebuilding the Lidl in our city, so no stopping the next fee weeks
😂👍keep within a budget though willem😉 cheers Rob
I would make real good use of the bits, always need a new size or to replace a worn out one because I am in the middle of a house renovation and my local Lidl is getting a good chunk of my money, they're great for a non-pro DIYer like me (and I've not managed to destroy any yet)
I know what you mean about Lidl getting big chunk of money 😂 good luck buddy , cheers Rob
I’d take that impact driver back 1 the light should only work when the trigger is pressed and 2 that arcing shouldn’t happen recon it’s faulty
You’re dead right mate.. I’m gonna swap it 😉👍 cheers Rob
The impact drill sounds a bit sick.
Swapped it now , much better , cheers 👍
Looks like you’ve started another Shed Head Saga. You must like making work for yourself! Now we need a follow up to find out what happens with the dodgy impact driver. Great work keep em coming.
😂it seems so mark.. I’ll make a part 2 though 👍 cheers mate
Wow we never gwt these offers in our local Lidl. I think the offers only appply to certain shops
Yeah it’s a shame it’s not in every branch.. I’d like to know where the biggest store is 😂 cheers Rob
The pliers with the curved jaws is an ideal christmas prezz for the misses . Then you won't get lumbered opening jars if yours is like mine 😳
Tip if you can't open a jar run the bowl of a teaspoon under the rim of the lid there's lugs under the rim lever it you'll hear it a pop
I think you missed the humorous consequences of giving ones spouse a pair of pliers for Christmas 🤕
😂👌
my worx drill would spark to when breaking its becasue its a brush motor not a brushless
I think there’s so many variations of spark ⚡️, great to hear your experience with worx mate 👍 cheers Rob
@@WeekendShedHead it sames to only be cheap tools that suffer the sparks iv got rid of my worx and treat my self to makita drill set
ive gotta say this mr shed head i have the same obsession for parkside tools i even have parkside t shirts and trousers ....and ive just bought the latest t shirt with the image of a drill on it.....its one of them moments in the middle isle of lidl do i need it ?????? answer i may do so sod it ill buy it then weeks down the line your glad that you did.......PARKSIDE TOOLS TOP QUALITY...
😂well I’ve just got 1 tee shirt.. I prefer my primark work t shirts.. they stretch 😂 yeah gotta love a parkside fix , cheers Rob
i live on isle of man and god i wish we had lidl and aldi here. every time i come over i binge buy stuff to bring home and seeing this makes me want to come over and get some more toys :)
More trips needed buddy 😂👍 sorry to be a bad influence 😉😂 cheers Rob
It's such a shame Lidl don't push the Performance Range of Parkside tools in the UK. I'd probably invest in that range of tools.
Yes I think would also buddy , cheers Rob
Can't go wrong with a bit of parkside
😉👍 or in my case a lot of parkside 😂, cheers mate
You should send me the tool set because I would love to review them ( it think they are rubbish even at £4.99, and need to prove they are of use)
All my Parkside tools spark, they all work brill
Big thanks for your feedback mate ! It helps us all 🙌👍 im going to swap this one out .. and however the next is.. I’ll keep 👍cheers Rob
I brought the mains leaf blower / sucker. Brilliant. £24.99
They also have a battery one .but I already have aldi batteries. I wonder if the aldi batteries will fit lidl tools?
Great videos Kev
I don't believe they do, however I think you can get adaptors as the voltage is the same it is just the shape and fitment.
The mains leaf blower is brilliant so the wife has informed me 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah I’m sure they are different Kev.. but good calls in the comments on adapters maybe 👍 cheers Rob
😂👍
Good call mate 👍😉
Got to say love watching your videos as i live in Spain and it's interesting to see to what offers you can pick up compared to over here , may well look into those battery offers here and consider buying myself , have a good one
Great stuff mate! 😉 thanks.. hope you get a good deal , cheers Rob
Haha love the acting!
Oh and if you don't use the belt holder you can replace it with a bit holder (can be handy at times).
The giveaway part:
Why should i get the bits sent to me?
I probably shouldn't to be honest 😆
Sure i would have use for them in my "new storage basement shed" as wife wont let me have the old set down there.
But honestly i think it would be better if someone that actually can do a proper review on them would get it to benefit us all
Keep the great videos coming!
Nice reason buddy 😂👍 and thanks 😉 cheers Rob
Bought the impact driver put it in shed had stroke and other things got a bit better pulled shed down to fit new one .impact driver stolen, hope it was as lucky for thief .
Sounds like you’ve really been through it David .. Thoughts are with you mate .. and all the very best Rob
If it sparks that much don't use it near fumes or vapours from solvent etc.💥🔥🔥
Good call 😉 cheers Rob
I think you get the spark because it is a brushed motor and due to watching your extendable mirror and magnet from the middle. I went into Lidl and came home with tarpaulin clips 🤦🏼
Yeah you’re right buddy 👍 I saw those tarp clips … I didn’t need any , but was tempted 😂 cheers Rob
Im really thinking 🤔 of buying a cordless Circular saw ...
Q ? could i fit a Quality BLADE on ...
Q ? ..is the base plate True & Square .
or should i just buy a reconditioned quality brand
Hikiko, dewalt , Milwaukee.
Thanks for your comment.. I’m sure there will be someone who will comment, I have some ideas but wouldn’t want to Ill advise , cheers Rob
the bushes might need run in before it quietens down
Good point Paul , cheers Rob
Lidl are very clever, i think every man goes into lidl for milk and bread comes out with new tools 😂😂
You’ve hit the nail on the head there Dave 😂😂👍 cheers Rob
I've always found cordless hammer drills a bit rubbish to be honest ! corded drills fine, but cordless SDS drills that's a different story, ever since my first experience with SDS in the 90s i've kind of never looked back !
Yeah I’d have to agree for bigger holes.. I’ve also got a huge sds 240v proper beast 😂 thanks for your comments .. appreciated .
Cheers
Rob
@@WeekendShedHead I do have a 240v corded SDS drill Bosch PBH 2100 RE as you like giving us model numbers ! 😊
It doesn't sound right Rob..mine doesn't sound like that mind..👍
Great feedback Fred, thanks mate ! Been some mixed feedback on these..I’ll swap it anyway.. let’s see on the next , cheers Rob
Cheers Rob
Hi, great vids, is offer on batteries still on.
Sorry for delay , ended on the 16th oct , cheers Rob
Have got parkside tools the only thing i say is crap is the petrol chainsaw heats up on the plactic cover so plastic and metal dont go together been in touch with lidl and they dont want to no so please dont get the petrol chainsaw as they dont want to no
Sorry to hear that, but Thanks for your experience, it helps us all , cheers
Because the impact is not brushless that is why a lot of tool brands are starting to do brushless tools
Yeah I get that mate👍 it’s just it seems to spark more than usual , thanks for commenting, cheers Rob
I would carry on 100 %
Rob your smashing it with views and comments.
Cheers brett.. To be honest i really enjoy it, thanks mate 👍
BPM =Blows per minute!!
👏🙏cheers bill 😃
A couple of weeks back I was perusing the middle isle and they were selling their 12v multi-head drill/driver for £5.99 or £6.99! I only didn't get it because they had no batteries in store and I already have a Milwaukee FDDX but god damn, I would have felt like a criminal if I'd bought it for that price.
Great feedback buddy on your parkside experiences! And Certainly a deal !
Cheers
Rob
Hi Rob, that impact driver does sound a bit’notchy’. Is it a 13mm chuck on the drill driver, also is the chuck a centre screw fixing in case you need to change. Cheers mate. Nigel
You’re right mate… I’m gonna swap it and live with whatever I get next … great tip , cheers Rob
Nick name for the pipe wrench is eagle beaks
Great name 😃👍 cheers Rob
Got my glasses on an old boot lace to stop me losing or sitting on them 😅
Nice mate 😂😂 it works 👌 cheers Rob
