What’s your thoughts on the parkside sliding cross cut saw ? Thanks for watching.. there are millions of UA-cam videos out there, I’m blown away by the fact you watch mine. !! Comment if you like Like if you like Subscribe if you like CHEERS !
Hi, bought this very saw last month at lidls for £79.99 and the matching stand for £35.00. Only thing I changed is the blade, replaced the 24 tooth one for a 100 tooth blade for finer cuts. I use other parkside tools, cheaper but reliable. Great video demo, so much better than reading the instructions. The same set up would cost so much more with a branded saw and stand.
That's a very useful video, well done ! I recently bought the same one for 109Euros. Needs a little bit of calibration and a change of the saw blade. It only has 24 teeth and this ends up in rough cuts. I replaced mine with a 60 teeth one and it made a huge difference
Great video. Some handy tips there, things like flipping the cut piece to test how true the cut is. I bought a battery mitre saw from Aldi a while ago, finally had need for it and that was when I realised it wasn't the sliding type so I was about 4mm short on the wood I needed to cut :)
😂 I made the same comment about the lathe, there’s so many things about this unit that will make you give up wood working. These tools are what they are, don’t waste your money on better blades they wont make a better cut just use this saw for what it is cutting near enough cuts. O when you do cut your fingers off with gloves on it’s handy because your finger stay in the package and are easy to transfer your bits to the hospital 😂😅 love the video. O as a afterthought go on line and put your model number of your old saw in and you will find all the parts to bring that saw backs to its former glory, don’t get carried away with the size of the depth cut on the new one, you hardly ever use it. As the wife always says its not the size it’s the way you use it. 😮😊
😂👍 thanks for your comments as always, I must say I’m happy with the saw.. ive used mitre saws for many jobs over the years and do occasionally cut the thicker timber .. but I needed a sliding saw.. we all have our opinions on cheaper tools, and this saw will not suit all 👍 but let’s see how it goes😉 good call on the old saw.. and size doesn’t matter 😉😂, cheers Rob
Bad workman blames his tools I have a workzone plunge saw because it was so cheap not to buy cuts perfect every time did a bit of fettling my friend has a festool I make stuff to the same standards that he does with that one
Hi. Like you I brought one of those and am VERY pleased with it. I didn't have to adjust my blade as when I put the set square on it it was perfect. Had a McAllister before and it was so noisy and threw saw dust everywhere. The Parkside is so much quieter and with it plugged into the vacuum hardly any saw to clear up.
Good mate you are making a lot of sense I understand everything you said, me being a norfolk boy I even understand your accent big thumbs-up 👍👍👏👏👏 thanks for the video
Cheers Rob, that looks excellent value for money, my first sliding mitre saw cost four times that 20+ years ago, but tbf it is still going strong now after going through around a dozen blades and miles of timber ! I recently added a similar spec Evolution saw as I needed the metal cutting capabilities that it offers and that was around £140 so nearly twice the price ! Looking forward to seeing your follow up videos and an extended review ! I'm glad you like it as I spotted it a couple of weeks back and sent the link to a family member knowing they were looking for one !
Very informative video. Nothing wrong with Parkside if your a DIYer, got a fair bit myself. Looking forward to you building the Mitre saw station for it.
Nothing wrong with parkside (performance) if u r a profi. Both my grinders are parkside. Just need a new multitool , as the old parkside resonates like crazy in your hand. Performance didnt even exist back then .
When i started woodworking about 10 years ago, i boutht a lot of cheaper tools a lot from Parkside. They can be hit or miss, i had an orbital sander for 7 years until it finall gave up, it was a beast. I also bought yhe parkside table saw, i would never recommend it to anyone! The fence was worse than useless! Ive had belt sanders, small chop saw, welder to nake a few, they're cheap tools, but i think theyre perfectly fine for hobbyists.
This looks very similar to the Bosch 4310 with some obvious differences. For a home hobbiest, this would certainly fill the bill. Especially for that price. I do suggest replacing the blade with a decent 5 deg negative hook blade to help with countering self feeding. Great video, and best wishes from Canada.
Hi Rob well you just about nailed it all good advice from start to finish and a great demo as you know I’ve got the Evolution one and like you mines only of the diy group but must admit well pleased with mine by the way that trench cut you did very neat and tidy looking forward to the next one
Nice review Rob. Can’t beat it for the price. Much easier to adjust the back fence on that than my Rage. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. DeWalt did a version of a fixed slide radial arm but that was about 50 years ago 🤣
Nice job rob must say for a hobby 8" sliding mitre saw looks orite to be honest. I have the 10 inch double bevel from lumberjack and must say it's an animal. The only thing ill say is watch for blade sizes seems like a weird size. If your gonna go for zero clearance look for fast cap tape amazing stuff. Also if you want some connections for dust hoses look up centec the do a quick connect system its amazing set up i have them on all my tools attached to shop vac. 🏴👍
@@dustycarter2729 it's a very thick plastic style tape (rubber ISH) that can be used to go across mitre saw insert plates or table saw insert plates to give you a zero clearance style and clean cut. Amazing stuff eBay Amazon has it.
got one of these last week to make some things to sell for halloween it does all i wanted it to do made me money back already happy days, used hoover and homemade steel bucket vortex worked ok, still get chips flying at the safety glasses, can use the little dust bag for my jigsaw 😉
When you did your 45 degree tilt cut, how close was the blade to the inlay plate? Mine is touching or close to touching on the right hand side of the inlay (close enough that I did not want to try a test cut) but could not see any adjustment for that (other than maybe using a washer/spacer with the blade). I probably will replace with ply for zero clearance, so may not matter. I think I got a returned unit as a few missing minor bits (the red cover you pointed out and the stabiliser for rotate arm (used a standard bolt with a gel dot on the back) and a couple of nicks. Not worth carting it all the way back to Lidl though. The extender lock on my right hand side extender also not tapped all the way though. Again, not worth me taking back. One annoyance is the clamp on the right hand side gets hit by the motor of the blade in most positions. Cheers for the videos, I like your style and explanations.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.. my clamp on the right also gets hit by the motor.. I’ll check the inlet plate on tilt.. again big thanks and great comments👌 Cheers Rob 👍
We have one of these, but about 4 years old. Works fine after setting up. Dust collection is rubbish, even with a vacuum attached. The slider bars are showing signs of rust.
Hi Rob, Good saw for the money, can't complain at that mate. I was lucky twice with a mitre saw, got a secondhand Black and Decker from the local car boot sale about 12 years ago paid £8 a bit battered and scratched still works well now, and one that was thrown in a skip so I knocked the door were the skip was and asked about it they said I don't know if it worked I brought it back to my workshop plugged it in and it didn't work so first thing first always check the plug there was no fuse in it, I put a 10 amp fuse in it, It worked well. I'll catch you later, as always a great video take care......cheers
@@WeekendShedHead Yes, it has to be, as the saw machine is rotating a cutter, the lathe is rotating a piece of material , so the cutter is stationary so less chance of injury.😎
Look a reasonable saw for my once-in-blue-moon-use… trouble is I can’t find it, no one in my local Hastings store knows owt about it and Lidl helpline are having a ‘training day’ How I used to enjoy my training days at the pub!😂 Bearing in mind I’ve still got tools in unopened boxes from 2018 - they’ll probably be vintage restoration projects by the time I get round to opening the things…. So, can you tell me how long ago you got this?
First thing to do with any blade that comes with an off the shelf tool is bin it... A better blade makes a world of difference, even on a cheap machine....
Didn't realise you could do trench cuts the way you did, was expecting the trench limit cuts and then you getting the chisel out to hack away at the meat in between them. Brill video Rob as always.
PS, I think this saw fits directly onto a dedicated saw stand which is sometimes available at Lidl. I bought one a few months ago which was massively reduced in price.....just need the mitre saw now to plonk onto it.
Straight out of the box, most sliding- mitre or table saws must be considered a "kit of parts". They virtually all need setting up to some degree. The first thing to do is bin the blade and invest in a decent one. Half an hour or so spent calibrating will pay back big dividends. I have two Elektra Beckum sliders that were in the hundreds of pounds and they were both inaccurately set up on first use. Plane,s and chisels are the same - they need work to make them function correctly. Unless you spend a fortune for a hand plane, it will never be fit for use straight off the bat.

Bought two smaller saws on FB marketplace, for £15, described as " not working" .One worked, other just had stuck locking pin!
Bargain 😃👍

Oh.. I thought it was ok, not changed camera .. I’ll rewatch , cheers Rob
