Because Hollywood as a whole, from writers to actors, is creatively bankrupt. They've probably been using AI for years to write scripts since they're all the same at this point.

I usually get huge raises at first, but I usually start at trash. I'll take jobs that seem interesting or fun and crush them. Also I'm a real quick learner and tend to cost a lot more to replace if I leave. One big drawback to unions is they like to pay Superman and Private Pyle the same. I avoid them now, I have enough skills to find new work easy so it's all about liking my job and who I work for now.

Absolutely love the part about moving the dozer and taking the track off. The message behind that hilarious part needs to be screamed out again for the people in the back who think they deserve all this money with zero knowledge and experience and it's a major contributing factor to why our world is in such a shit spot right now.

I work in ops at a power plant. We got a 52 cent raise and for safe/hard work we get a short term incentive bonus that for my pay band is targeted at 6% of last years gross. We killed it and made the marks by nearly doubling the targets except corporate.
We didn't meet earnings per share by $0.01 so 40% of target bonus aka pile of crap. Then they cut cost by firing everyone who takes out the trash, cleans bathrooms, half our maint department, the painters, grass cutters, and lots of other staff. Now I'm not just an operator of equipment and the fire brigade, I'm the chemistry department, maint crew, bathroom cleaner, trash removal expert, racoon fighter in the switchyard, snake charmer in the grass, but I only get about 40% of the work schedule done.

I worked at a state prison where shit like this happened. One of the old timers was just like Roscoe, it was great. They would give us cost of living raises at like maybe 15-20 cents per year. Right afterwards tell us that B wing was threatening to riot, because X and Y reason. I miss listening to the old timers telling Lt.s and Sgt.s to f**k off and suit up themselves.

Raises should at LEAST cover inflation. Considering inflation by the feds is said to be at about 3% (its actually higher) someone who makes 23 dollars an hour should at least get a raise of 69 cents. If someone makes 40 dollars an hour, you should be getting a raise of 1.20. If that's not happening consider that they are in fact not giving you a raise and lowering how much they pay you in buying power.

that would be great BUT, the company many times also isn't able to increase their prices to cover the inflation.
Like my father's shop for example they have had to cut prices as people have less money to spend so they are cutting on maintenance, leaving margins razor thin.
