My M240i arrives in a few weeks and I am sooooo impressed with this review. Not just a look around and over revving a cold engine but a super technical review and road test. This is how ALL car reviews should be. Hats off to the Producers
How are you liking the car? I’ve had a 2022 m240i with the ZTK package for about a month now. For a daily, I’m loving it. Thinking about throwing the AA down pipe in her to improve the exhaust note
I order an M240 a few months ago. I have been watching every single video about the M240 on UA-cam for months now. This one is the best. Thanks! You got a sub from me!
how has been your experience so far? I am also looking to buy. If I may know what other options did you have and why did you finalise on 240? I am not so sold on looks
@@aditya7955 I needed a back seat, I have a 5 year old and 7 year old I take to school every day and they are comfortable back there. That limited my options. I LOVE the car. It is a blast to drive and I have zero regrets. Obviously looks are subjective but if you don’t like the look for the car don’t get it. Ive owned a 2023 230i M-sport with the ELSD and khumo V730s for over 6 months here in the US. It is the perfect middle car of the 2 series line up. Light nose, 50/50 weight distribution, can easily hold drifts, is reasonably priced, and has decent acceleration. I have taken it to the track and it has been laying down great times and putting other modified cars to shame. I even got "Fastest in Class" by a very wide margin. Honestly I can't imagine wanting another car outside of a Porsche 718. BMW did a great job with the 230i and I believe it is currently the enthusiast weapon of choice for track work besides the new M2. Personally while I do have the budget for an M2, I think that purchase only makes sense for a serious track rat with money to blow. The 230i is far more affordable and is going to have much lower running costs for those of us who don't want to sell our kidneys to afford consumables. I couldn't be happier with my 230i and I'm glad I didn't order the m240 now that I've had the opportunity to track my car.
Wow that's quite interesting - you rarely hear someone going for a 230i over a m240i,....I just never drove anything faster than what I'm driving now. My first car was a e36 318, a few e34s, e46 330i, and e46 325i. August 2023 - Wanted to order a 2 series and couldn't for the life of me even see one in person. I'm in Western PA and my dealer just couldn't give me anything to test drive. I had about 48k to play with as I thought. Thought I could squeeze into a RWD M240i, but instead realized I couldn't. So I optioned a 2024 230i - M sport package, Dynamic Handling, M brakes, eLSD, adaptive cruise, basically enthusiast spec. It came out to just over $50,000. Now I know that the M240i would be just under $60,000 after all the taxes and fees. Now added a JB4. The car just flies. But it SURGES from dead stop, and FLIES past 3,000 rpm, which is an interesting experience - there's that sweet spot at 3,000 RPM to 5,000, after which the power kind of drops off. What I learned after the fact about the B48 engine - the stock B48/6B block is very good even though it’s “only” 258Hp from factory. This engine is all about the ultra low end torque value of ( 305ft-lb/ 414NM ) available at 1200RPM, which makes it pull way harder than the horsepower would suggest. The B48 feels identical to a diesel, considering most sports cars are horsepower first followed by torque with a 70 variable difference.... B58 in the M440i: 380HP and 370ft-lbs.. Tuning the B48 while costly does also continue the trend of being torque focused. Stage 2 piggyback tune via JB4 puts the 230i at 310HP and 350ft-lb. Throw on aftermarket cold air intake, inlet pipe, charge pipe and your around 350ish Hp and 380ft-lb.. At that point you are at the power-to-weight ratio of a M240i...but with the 3,500lb curb weight and amazing handling to boot. In the back of my head of course I wonder what would happen if just ordered a M240i with RWD, no options, and no sunroof. But what's done is done...
i got to drive an m240i x drive and a 230i m sport with e dif..as "loaners" as i had an EV at the shop for routine/warranty inspection....I could understand the X drive in a track setting or a single runner/track setting with no traffic where you can min/max your line/corner selection....as a "Drivers car" i felt a lot of heavy front/intiate inputs that rarely translated to the rear end...a lot of mid corner ??? feel bc of this chassis/drivetrain interaction. Just imo hard to manage the powerband mid corner if at he lower/mid range of the rpm or torque to power ranges. If in sport+ or with aids remoevd....you may be able to hold a corner more ideal/tight from a pure drivers/line holding standpoint while still being able to work the throttle for an ideal exit line....but i LARGELY found the 2L turbo RWD with edif....to HUGELY be a more worthwhile experience purely on city and canyon roads or downhill sweepers. The weight distribution and equally usable/adequate powerband for street driving....made holding lines initiating turns at high speeds and being able to work the throttle from mid corner to exit really upped the fun factor of considering that build a daily. VS just genuinely feeling held back By road limitations tighter/lanes and lines to hold in the same circumstances with the 240...then i tried a friends 230i x drive...and it felt like some kind of stop gap to get ppl to want to have that mechanical grip...with more power. Or a better balance of power to grip....vs the tradeoffs. You would no doubt feel the limiting aspects of /public roads with an m2. VS being able to push the cars inputs/desires on a track. It was refreshing to see the difference in road feel/handling/throttle mid corner amongst these options. THOUGH no doubt the 230i....in my eyes largely benefits from the m sports suspension/brakes and DIF. WHOLLY a reason to own one i was thoroughly impressed. With how adaptable it was from a shifting profile/daily down tuned use....and the sport+ and sport shifting as well as disabling as many driver assists as possible...just generally how much "driving" characteristics you gain/feel from having it in "daily" mode with a more modest suspension feel and shifting profile if not a down tuned/fuel map....to something that showcases its "VALUE" when holding higher revs....flying into a corner at IMO higher entry speeds than i was with the 240i and the weight management mid corner vs an X drive system with a larger engine/turbo cooling system implemented. ON a track with larger straights and wider turns...the options with more power and X drive could probably hold more speed as G's are implemented...but i could definitely tell on a smaller track were straights/speed max is somewhat off set by how much easier it is to enter a corner with the RWD 50:50 ratio and keep both at a high speed. IDK you definitely feel and think alot more about the time youre AIMED to gain with the power offset opposed to the ease of driving the lighter more balanced car seems to offer when it comes to cornering fast and maximizing the exit into the next turn with the larger power packages. Doesnt change the fact that in every scenario where power is a factor like up hills or if trying to keep up with "better options" it makes the 240i seem like more of a buy, but from a pure daily standpoint with the ability to enjoy your "SPORTING" and the used market the 230i rwd if packaged properly doesnt seem like a bad option.
I too tested an M2 and the 230i back to back. The M2 was like a race car, fast. It was like having five hyenas on a leash chasing antelope. It was difficult to control a low revs the M2 was a beast it just wanted to be driven fast. As such I couldn't really see it being used comfortably as a daily. I didn't get a connection from the M2 steering was vague, numb. The bmw guy offered me a ridiculous deal. It was like he was trying to get rid of the M2 offering a £5000.00 dealer deposit. The suspension was also a bit too stiff. The M2 is a race car for the streets. The 230i was do much easier to drive than the m2 more playful I was happier 😊. The acceleration cannot be compared. The 230i at 245hp was fast much faster than I thought compared to the M2. But what stood out was the chassis the steering the way the rear would step out on driver command. Its one of those cars that's makes you want to beat up.on it it likes it. I always felt in control. My wife test drove both cars snd said the M2 was too fast for the street perfect for the track but fuel economy was poor at 23mpg against 42mpg in the 230i. I thought I would hate the 230i when compared with the M2. but it was so much fun to drive. And it looks better as well so I ordered it in skyscraper silver black wheels 19" [I wanted silver but no option,] red callipers and tacora red interior it arrives in November. I can't wait.
@@Youppp it really is when you disable everything/aids and utilze the e-dif...you can just throw the car about and it responds/reacts so well under low to high g activity
This is one of the best and most comprehensive review I’ve watched on UA-cam. Great job. I replaced my 2016 M2 with a 230i and love it. I enjoy driving this car every day. The fuel economy is an added bonus. I don’t feel like I have anything up when moving into the 230i.
230i is where it's at. The extra power you need, while keeping the lower weight. Loving my 230i. This was an incredibly in-depth review. Hopefully we can get a translation for the 230i when they receive it
As a recent purchaser of a 2023 2-Series, I’ll say without any reservation that this is by far the best BMW 2-Series video on UA-cam. But as of April 2023, your American-spec HP and torque numbers for the m240i x drive were incorrect.
As someone who owns one of the new 230i’s I can say I absolutely love it. People have mixed feeling until they see it in person. It’s a great vehicle looks wise and driving wise. The b46 in the 230i does a great job in place of the b58 in the m240i
Hi, do you have the standard or M suspension? I am considering the 230i, but will have to drive my wife on occasion in it on less than perfect roads, and without adaptive option in 4 cylinder models I am wondering if M would be to stiff for her or if otherwise standard suspension would compromise handling too much. It won't go on track and I am too old to drive irresponsibly in public, therefore will not be pushed anywhere close to limits.
@goranmekota7540 my buddy Bought the new 230 with the regular suspension. We went for a drive and from the passenger seat the suspension feels very comfortable with low body roll. He said the first car he test drove was more firm so I imagine it had the M suspension.
im looking at used 230i m sports with the perforance DIF currently. Seeing some at near 10,000+ off what id get for a 2024 with the same options. Seems like a proper daily good mpg....good sports/streetable fun with the proper profile/settings and driver aids disabled. If i wait a year or two id probably save/go for a 240 but it wouldnt be a daily...just looking at stuff like GR corolla with the need for the performance DIF and its MPG relative to a tuned/larger turbo current gen WRX which also needs a BBK upgrade...from a pure DAILY standpoint GTI and the 2 series have a lot of "niceties" interior/complete package wise...that makes them worth running over a WRX/BOXER and the 3 cyl Corolla. That "more performance" bridge gapped by the future value of a used 240i vs a 230i. Thats where ive landed....im even looking at the Z XD....though see that as a lesser option. At first i was considering a bolt on SC FA24 brz since it has a bit more of a modest suspension tune vs the tact/driven GR86....but then i realize ive driven a 240i and a 230i as dealership loaners and also rwd and x drive in the case of the 230i...theyre just really nice/great for what theyre bringing to the table. Pure manual/aside. I love the purple one too myself ;) GL with saving/buying.
Really tempted to do this! My previous car was a 2016 340i. All I had done was cut the resonators out.. the car seemed to shift more aggressively and never would lag (when shifting manually) Are you liking the XHP transmission tune?
@@HaloDude557 better off finding a salvage title to implement such things....vs trying to find a used with the m sports suspension/brakes/differential instead Either way thats the only viable way to have a good differential/ideal performance on a budget with these...then again if only we could take account how many ppl claim they need X-drive to drive their brand new BMW in snow....or get it sprayed with salt/snow/rock chips....as if it wasnt a LIE...we would have thousands of these BS accounts or justifications for x-drive as well NGL
A new project, IMHO, from the BEST spanish motor sport communicator UA-cam channel in spanish. English speakers will enjoy It for sure, you lucky guys! Petrolhead certified content!
or just its own/option...vs some BS where you have to have the full speced tech package first to primarily implement the shadow package...those costs on a 2024...all add up to pushing you towards getting a 240i vs optioning out a 230i. Even to just get an e dif m suspension/brakes packaged....you still have to get that maxed out tech package. Which i find hard to justify/cost wise....vs trying to find a 230i with those performance options used. Plus if this is the case...im just going to have to r/i some of these parts myself...and take them to wrap place...to get them blacked out. At least im not paying up the A for seemingly nothing.
Excellent video. 😀 I just wished you got the latest model (2023). BMW made some interior changes for the 2023 so you technically can't buy this exact car anymore, unless it's a used/pre-owned car. Also, the 2023 comes in RWD M240i in addition to the X-Drive model.
yeah RWD M240i seems to be pretty nice. I mean when you spec out a 2024 230i with e dif....m suspension+brakes...compared to the m240i which is a few thousand more for that added power/band....if you can manage to put a larger down on the table and get good financing....does seems somewhat viable...vs trying to slap on a larger turbo on the 2L and do an e85 conversion/tune. The cost with a full exhaust system etc...seems about on par with an m240i. Not a big fan of X-drive myself...after experiencing x drive in older 240i and 230i as well as experienced a 230i rwd...i do favor the RWD input/feel etc. Then again the 230i is much more balanced package as RWD...and THE X drive left you YEARNING for the 240i power with the x drive/grip...it almost has no place other than being offered as an option with the 230i. Perhaps in regions with snow....as if ppl dont have mandatory/beaters for the snow....i couldnt imagine purpusefully driving a new BMW in the snow MERELY bc it "CAN"....but thats just me as an owner/consumer.
Hello I have a very important question for you. I am buying the new BMW 2 series coupe and I watched your review. I am considering between either the 230i or the M240i Have you had a chance to drive the 230i yet and would you recommend it over the M240i? I won’t be taking my car to the track but I do want to have fun small and controllable powerslides out of corners on public roads. My concern is that the price of the 230i is so high in my country (United Kingdom) compared with the M240i it makes sense just to spend a tiny bit more to get a bigger engine.
How nice of BMW to benchmark the Cadillac ATS dynamics on their 2 series sedans, they still failed at weight reduction after 9 years, 😅. Cadillac ATS 2.0t rwd 272hp/295 lb-ft of torque for 3,473 pound/1575kg, bulletproof all aluminium LTG engine plus a lazy truck 8 speed transmission, 50/50 weight distribution and two extra doors. Reality is, if I have to buy a new sports sedan these days I would rather go with a CT4-V Series rwd 2.7t 325hp/380 lb-ft torque for 3,616 pound/1640kg, or CT4 V Blackwing over any M2/3/4.
Picking up mine on Saturday in Brooklyn Grey which just looks incredible, haven’t even driven it yet but had the previous M235I in similar spec and it was one of the best cars I’ve ever driven, apparently the chassis is from the 4 series which I currently have the 435D M Sport which is a big improvement in terms of comfort being larger over the previous 2 series which makes sense. Also saw the new M2 with all the M Performance extra’s on - has to be the worst looking M car ever made - must of been designed by Stevie Wonder as it is a disaster.

Just discovered this channel. Good lord. Why even bother with any other reviews? This is incredible!
This is one of the best and most comprehensive review I’ve watched on UA-cam. Great job. I replaced my 2016 M2 with a 230i and love it. I enjoy driving this car every day. The fuel economy is an added bonus. I don’t feel like I have anything up when moving into the 230i.
Vais a flipar.
This, sir, is the best G42 review in the universe! Kudos!
230i is where it's at. The extra power you need, while keeping the lower weight. Loving my 230i. This was an incredibly in-depth review. Hopefully we can get a translation for the 230i when they receive it
Inertial polar momentum será en inglés? 😃
Great proposal Guille to have this chanel in English!
Hope a huge welcome!
Keep doing like this, great job!
Hi everyone! Great video about a great car made by a great team. Congratulations and good luck in this new adventure!
As a recent purchaser of a 2023 2-Series, I’ll say without any reservation that this is by far the best BMW 2-Series video on UA-cam. But as of April 2023, your American-spec HP and torque numbers for the m240i x drive were incorrect.
Great quality video, full of interesting technical information. Here is a new powerart in english fan!!
@@dr_tate Thank you:)
Best wishes in this new adventure you are beginning with.
People complaining about the looks, but it looks muscular as hell in my opinion. I love it.
Good luck with this new project!!!
Amazing car and amazing review! So happy to have my 2023 M240 😍
A purple BMW M240i X-Drive is my dream car now.
im looking at used 230i m sports with the perforance DIF currently. I love the purple one too myself ;) GL with saving/buying.
if you tune the gearbox with xhp it has rev matching and blips for downshifts that eliminate the slow lag!
Lose transmission warranty though
Really tempted to do this! My previous car was a 2016 340i. All I had done was cut the resonators out.. the car seemed to shift more aggressively and never would lag (when shifting manually)
Are you liking the XHP transmission tune?
@@HaloDude557 better off finding a salvage title to implement such things....vs trying to find a used with the m sports suspension/brakes/differential instead Either way thats the only viable way to have a good differential/ideal performance on a budget with these...then again if only we could take account how many ppl claim they need X-drive to drive their brand new BMW in snow....or get it sprayed with salt/snow/rock chips....as if it wasnt a LIE...we would have thousands of these BS accounts or justifications for x-drive as well NGL
@@anhiirr what’s wrong with xdrive? It’s definitely going to be more effective than rwd in icy conditions
A new project, IMHO, from the BEST spanish motor sport communicator UA-cam channel in spanish. English speakers will enjoy It for sure, you lucky guys! Petrolhead certified content!
Are you gonna make more videos? This one is no 1!!
Yeah, we will keep translating more and more ;)
Powerart to the moon 🔥
Muchos exitos Guille!! 🎉🎉
Go Guille!!! Go PowerArt!!!
Enhorabuena!!!
Good luck! Lovely dubbing
Great!!!! All the best to PowerArt
bro how can you afford Ryan Reynolds to do the voice over
Great video! Very good music selection too!
Wish you a lot of success in this new adventure. Excellent content
I have a 2024 230i Coupe and I love it!
Great review. Is it possible to tell the iDrive system to send 100% to RWD all the time ?
Please review the 230i
Guille, this is great! I like seeing your channel tackle new markets! You have all the qualities to do this! Have you thought of using your own voice?
A must see motor channel… now in English!! Yeeyyyy 😊
shadowline package should be standard should have cooled seats
or just its own/option...vs some BS where you have to have the full speced tech package first to primarily implement the shadow package...those costs on a 2024...all add up to pushing you towards getting a 240i vs optioning out a 230i.
Great review!
Honestly, best review of this car, and I’ve watched them ALL!! Please subscribe to this guy for any one else that’s looking at a G42!
Good luck with the new chanel
Great job!
Excellent video. 😀
I just wished you got the latest model (2023).
Ojoooo awesome content and skills
This is a boooomb 💣
Hello I have a very important question for you.
I am buying the new BMW 2 series coupe and I watched your review. I am considering between either the 230i or the M240i
Have you had a chance to drive the 230i yet and would you recommend it over the M240i?
I won’t be taking my car to the track but I do want to have fun small and controllable powerslides out of corners on public roads.
My concern is that the price of the 230i is so high in my country (United Kingdom) compared with the M240i it makes sense just to spend a tiny bit more to get a bigger engine.
Let's gooo! Super good dub job!
Let’s rock it guys! ❤
Oh, fantastic, this drug is now available in other languages...
Amazing car!
Awesome ❤
Love it
Nice !
Let's go!!!
0.4 bar of pressure in the tyre?😮 it's not a trials bike. . .
Sir, what is your height? 🤔

My favorite part of the new 2 Series design is that i don't own one so i dont have to look at it
😀
Hablas raro😂😂😂
