I like these videos Duane! I just snagged one of these cameras from your link, so hopefully you get some sort of kickback there! I’m in South Central PA, I think I recall you’re in PA also. Keep the videos coming!
Hey Howard! Thanks so much! I’ll get a small commission (at no cost to you). I appreciate it! Yep, I live in the Pocono Mountains area and am familiar with Lancaster/Harrisburg area. I’m probably going to be down that way in a few weeks for the Great American Outdoor Show.
April 16, 2024, Hi, I just found you channel looking for useful help with my new trail cam. Hopefully you might can help me. I purchased a "no name" trail camera off Amazon with good reviews. The box just says "4K HUNTING CAMERA 4K UHD Made in China" no manufacturer or model number. It does work and I managed to take a video of a bob cat near the chicken coop last night. However, there are several settings that I'm unsure of and to what level they should be set. It has a manual but it only says what the possible setting are but not why you would want them. The settings are 1) Motion Filter - on or off 2) Fill Light Distance - near, middle or far 3) PIR - High, Medium, or Low 4) Detection Delay - 5 sec to 1 hour The manual says it has a trigger time of .05s Does that in anyway interact with Detection Delay? The camera does work and I'm satisfied with it but if I'm able to get more/better results that would be an added bonus. Thanks!
Hey I’d be happy to help! 1. I’m not sure what the motion filtering is about, so I would just leave it off for now. 2. It depends on where your target is for night shots. If your chicken coop is pretty close, I would put the fill light (basically the infrared flash) on near and see how the photos/videos look at night. 3. This is your night time flash (most likely infrared lights). If your photos are coming out and lit well at night, I would leave it as is. If they are dark, bump it up! 4. I’d set the detection delay between 5-10 seconds. This is how quickly the camera will take another photo if the subject is still in front of it. If you have it set to an hour, you’ll see a bob cat, but then have no idea what it did because it wouldn’t take another photo for an hour. This isn’t related to trigger speed. Trigger speed is how quickly the camera can take a photo when the subject enters the frame. A fast trigger speed will capture an animal running past the camera. A slow trigger will miss it. Best of luck with your trail cam! 👍🏻
You can access them by selecting video playback mode from the menu on the screen on the camera. Or (my favorite way to check) you can get an SD card reader, take the SD card and plug it into your smartphone to view everything. amzn.to/472CeL4
I am ignorant on trail camera, but intent to buy one. When I receive this one in the mail, does it have everything to make it work, or do I have to buy more electronics or a card of types to make it work?

Hey masonhuey! Ah man… that sucks. Sorry to hear that. I hate to say it, but sometimes you’ll get a dud. I had three of the same camera and the motion capture and trigger speed worked great on two, but the third one just didn’t capture. It’s a pain, but I’d send it back.
I just bought it also & the exact same thing , only recorded me walking past it, didnt record deer in daylight & nothing at all at night & I watched raccons & deer last night from my window :((
Mountain Buck hello I would say about 24 photos maybe the videos about 8 and I have it on a very short record time at the time I was using 8 batteries so was surprised it was out of battery life in two days
Duane, how much light do you have to have for this camera to see colors when recording? I can put the camera under a light and see things in color, but I move the camera from under the light and it goes to black and white. It's daytime and it's in black and white.
Hey Duane. I set this camera up just like you said. I set the record time for 20 seconds, and it records for 20 seconds. No color. And after that 20 seconds it does nothing. Ive tried it half a dozen times. Nothing different happens. It will record for the amount of time I tell it to record, but then stops and nothing else will happen. It's kind of like a test video or something, just won't do any recording after the first video. I've set it up for about 45 minutes but the only thing it recorded was the video time I had it set to. Nothing else. Tell me what you think is wrong. And no color at all when recording.
I've tried everything that makes sense and it will record what ever length of video I tell it to and nothing else. Use a 10 second shot lag and it still won't record anything after the first video. I've even pulled the SD card out and put it back it. Cleared the card and set it all up again and it does the same thing.
Hey man, really like this camera. One question i do have is. When recording at night and it captures something does the camera flash? Do any lights come on? Im trying to catch a thief. So i need to know. Day time wont matter i dont think. But please let me know, thanks for the info.
Hey Steven! This camera has infrared lights for nighttime recording. Yes, it will emit subtle red lights that will be visible at night. If you need a camera that doesn’t emit red lights at night, you should look into a “No glow” camera

Hey Duane. I just got my first camera. The 4k vikeri. I set it up in the menu. Then I am trying to do a test video and having problems recording. It says to turn it on and watch the blue light in front of camera until the light goes off then it will record for twenty seconds. Then go back to test and push replay to view the video. I'm not getting any video. How can I test the sensors to know if they're good,? Or am I doing something wrong? Please help
Hey Steven. Are you walking in front of the camera after you’ve turned it on? Here’s a way you can tell if your camera is recording… take it to a dark room (no light like a bathroom) and turn off the lights. Turn on the camera (make sure it’s in video mode) and stay in front of it until you see the infrared lights come on. If you have it set to record for 20 seconds, those red lights will be on for 20 seconds. Give it a few and then go to play mode and review your video.
Turn the camera to test mode with the on/off switch. Press the menu button. Press “ok” on mode. Arrow down to video and press “ok”. Arrow down to video resolution and press “ok”. Select the highest numbers by pressing “ok”. Arrow down to video length and press “ok”. Select how many seconds you want to record by using the up or down arrows and then click “ok”. Press menu to go back. Turn the switch over to the “on” position and close and latch the camera. Wait a few seconds and the camera is now ready to record videos.
