Hi 👋 DAVE , The day there is a beginning and an ending to everything..Your video was not viewed for four days and when I began watching, I said “” WHOA”” he’s making me famous.LOL . I was blown away by your expertise and how little I know about trail cameras and how much there is to learn..To get real picky you could see where one setting could result in a separate toutorial with pics lasting 10 min each ..Imagine?? By the comments they were pleased.,Appreciated new ways to see better results, and you know what else DAVE , it is the foundation on my approach to photography..It begins with what’s under your feet to infinity.. The ability for the few of us that have the ability to see vs those who have to go to school to learn . You are the former and welcome to my world pal . It’s beautiful.. Never a moment passes that a picture is about to present itself..Thank you. This is one special presentation and I was really taken back with the Doe showing so much affection to her young . For that I just may let the first Doe pass me by this fall !!!
Haha!! Not sure I can make anyone famous, but I do appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment on my videos! I think we all can learn from each other if we would just take the time. Everyone has something of value to add, each in our own way! Thanks again for your support.
Thank you Dave. This is my first camera and I am an older woman that has bears, skunks deer, raccoons, bobcats, opossum and, who knows what else , running around my yard. I only have 1 1/2 acre, but seem to be overrun with wildlife. Your voice of experience is a huge help on the set up and saved me a lot of time learning new tricks. I will let you know how I make out with my Hawkray Mini Hunting Camera.
Thank you so much for this video. I am an older woman living in the forest on the Oregon coast. My husband bought me a GardePro A3 a few years ago, we set it up and got great pictures and then put it away for the rainy season. Three years later we have a pesky bear I wanted to get some pics of, but was very intimated trying to figure out how to set the camera up again, your video has taken that intimidation away, the camera is now ready to get photos, hopefully, of our local bear population. Thank you again!!!
Hey thanks a lot I really appreciate the help I just bought a trail camera and don't know what to set it on now I have a good idea of where I'm going to set everything thanks again
This is one of the most useful and best videos I've seen on UA-cam. I can't afford an internet system for security and this will work for wildlife and security for me.
This vid really helped me because you not only went through your preferences but explained what the settings were for better than the guide it came with. I like to record wildlife in my backyard woods at night and this cam is great for that.
All my camera get set to video and 20s length. I agree it fits the best for any of my scouting and making videos from them. Great Info. Have a BLESSED day.
Thanks much, Dave. I do very similar. A couple things I do so I'll share, if it's okay. I'd appreciate your ideas as well as viewer ideas. 1.) How long I leave my trail-cams out? I designate two 32GB SD card(s) for each camera. I check them about 7 to 10 days depending on time of season. If I'm checking varmint patterns, I'll check daily. 2.) What I do with my recorded trail-cam clips after making a video? I received a 4 Terabyte memory disc from Santa on Christmas 😊 so now I started doing this. After I make a video, I create a file folder on the 4 Terabyte memory disc, name/date the file folder, then place the new video w/ ALL related trail-cam clips in that file folder. So now I can retrieve "a video" from the 4 Terabyte memory disc and all the related trail-cam clips I used to make that particular video are there in same folder. After this, I erase the little 32GB SD card and now it's ready to be rotated to its designated Trail-camera. It took me a while to figure out some kind of system to rotate SD cards, etc.....so I wanted to share. Thanks for your videos. Keep them coming.
Some great information!! I’m glad your willing to share your tips/experience! Storage of media can be a huge deal, especially when dealing with hours of videos per check. Thanks for taking the time to watch and give your input! I appreciate it 👍
thank you so very much great video and a big help to me i have orderd a new camera so took note of all your settings and cannot wait to try it out, greetings from netherlands
Excellent information. The what and why of what you do will help others decide what they need to do. Thank you for taking the time to do this video.👍😊😊🇺🇸
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial your welcome. I referred your series to a friend who was wanting a security camera. This video will help her adjust her settings for the best use of it.
This is a very helpful video. I've been wanting to put up a trail cam and i am clueless on settings.. Thank you for this information. Really appreciate it.
Wow, thanks so much for a really informative video. I’ve just bought a Victure for hubby’s Christmas present and this has really helped me to ensure that I have it all preset ready for him to get straight into using. I’ve gone with all your preferred settings which I’m sure will suit our needs. I’ve watched a couple of your tutorials and you are a great teacher.
This was informative. I always enjoy knowing how people get their shots. I am messing with my drone settings as we speak and without videos like these many of us would be lost. Thank you for this upload.
For battery life, I have started buying only cameras with the option for external batteries. I've started building my own external battery packs using a sealed lead acid battery and an ammo box. So far, I'm pretty happy with those.
Hi Dave, got my first trail cam, and didn't know some of the terminology specific to infrared cameras. I was very happy to find your video and took notes so I can set up my camera. I mainly got it for pest control reasons, the small 4-legged critters that only come out at night. I think I'll be turning down the IR Intensity as I'm shooting close to the ground. And the point at the end where you discuss formatting the card was another question made clear to me. I did put the card into the computer and it seemed formatted with an image folder, but I'll go ahead and format it before using the camera. The small manual mentioned it in passing, so I wasn't sure how important it is. And I'll do it again after bringing video into the computer. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and wisdom. Have a great day.
Thank you. I have my first trail camera and your video is super helpful. I live in a town house that backs to a large field and there are woods nearby. Your choices for your camera settings are very similar to mine. I designate two SD cards per camera even when the cameras are identical models, I mark the cards and I still reformat them every time I switch them out, over kill maybe, but it works for me so far. I do not bait my cameras either, we have a lot of wildlife and the more I use the trail cameras on our property the more I learn where to put them. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching my settings video. I appreciate it. Keeping designated sd cards is never a bad idea. Thanks for sharing your experience from your cams. 👍
Very informative video Dave, I have been thinking a lot time about getting some trail cams and I would have no idea what settings or even how to use them.
I'm a new user - your doing a great Job with your video- it simplified setting my camera up - most useful and practical information - lm now up and running- Thanks
Hi Dave, thank you for this excellent video. I think you should add "jargon buster" to your CV. I have got myself a trail camera and I found setting it up a real pain. Then I came across your YT Channel, and I understand things totally. Thanx once again, Barnacle Bern SW Wales UK .👍😎
Thanks for sharing your trail camera settings Dave. Pretty much use the same settings. I've only used the time lapse one time, and that was while working in the food plot.
Thank you for the information. I have a Browning Recon trail camera. I had fun with it a few years ago (tried a time lapse on roof of season change) but was totally demoralized by how quickly the 8 AA batteries went out. So it sat! But I talked to Paul recently, of Pine City Apiary and he told me to get the lithium. I got the rechargeable energizer lithium AA at work. Sha-shing! My card is 128 GB. So wish me luck! Fun to share, won't have the fancy music like Paul! haha Oh, and how if a simple branch moves it records zip. but newbees..
I'm a trapper. I have 2 foxelli trailcams. I love them. Is setting at 15 mins. Time delay happy medium good enough for trapping. Cus I get way to many video and pictures if I have it on less time delay if I catch something in my traps. Anyway that was a very helpful video. Thanks
I think you’ll be good with a 15min delay in your situation. You sure can learn a lot putting them over your traps. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it 👍
Iv been eyeing u for a while already. Love ur videos. I'm a foxelli fan. Anyway no problem. Seems u no ur stuff. I'm gona set up my trail camera to 15 Mins delay tomorrow morning and put the to video mode and 20 second or 30 second record time. Thanks for getting back to me. Greatly appreciated
Best trail cam video I seen so far, I set my cam up exactly the same way, if you can, it would be nice to show how you set up specific cams, like the browning or vikeri cams, go thru the settings those particular cams have
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial I don't subscribe to many channels, but if I leave a comment and the person comments back, well that earns a sub, I know a lot of work goes into making these vids, I appreciate it, subbed up!!!!
Really great information about trailcam settings. One of these days, I want to get a trailcam to set down by the creek, it would be interesting to see what passes by at night. 👍
I’m sure it would be interesting that know what all passes by when people aren’t around. Thanks for watching. I almost didn’t recognize you (you changed your profile pic) 👍
Thanks for the video. New bow hunter here and just started experimenting with trail cams. What about audio? I have the option to record sound. I have currently turned it off to save SD card space, but what’s your opinion?
I have to go back and change my PIR sensitivity. I leave mine out all year around and came back with like 15,000 pictures of the trees just moving. lol. lesson learned.
Thanks for watching. Endless capture (when turned on or enabled) will allow the camera to continue operating even when your sd card is full. As it takes a new picture the oldest picture will be deleted to make room. When endless capture is off, the camera will stop working when the sd card is full.
Helpful. Do you know what "motion filter" means on the Dargahou 4k 48 MP Trail Camera. Is this what is blocking the sensing of motion at more that 10'? I don't seem to be able to capture longer distance.
Wish you had told me how to set date and time . Although is seems elementary when l set mine it doesn't retain it. So l must be doing something wrong. Also is it possible to make red light not visible by covering it or is that a required function ?
I appreciated your video on trail cameras. I have a DL-001, and it appears not to have IR function as the night scenes are so dark you can't make out anything. There are no settings for IR function. Is there another name for it? Thank you 😊.
Was wanting to know, these 2 things plz. After you set it up on test, Do you leave it on test , or switch to the On position? Also, can you cover the flashing Red light, so it isn't seen.? Thank you, I enjoy your info. ,, Tim
Thanks for watching. You must turn the camera to “on”. Leaving it on setup will drain your batteries dead and it won’t take any pictures. You should be able to cover the blinking light without an issue 👍
Excellent video. I can get day video but not night video … it turns out black. Gonna try again with your setting … although mine were almost identical. I’ll hope for the best. Will let you know if it worked. Thanks.
Usually if the daytime video works but nighttime is black it’s a battery issue. Low batteries will give those symptoms. I highly recommend Energizer lithium batteries 👍
I have a Dargahou 4k 48 MP Trail Camera that has a lot of settings. I'm new to trail cameras. There are a couple of delay settings. I can't figure out what is the best option or if they could conflict with each other. Is there a good tutorial on this camera and settings?
Thanks dave. Just what i was looking for. So say the ir is how much light the camera puts out when videoing. So what exactly is the pir? Please explIn a little better for me please. I bought my camera to catch a thief, so i want to have as little light as possible
The PIR is the sensor that detects heat/motion and tells the camera to take a picture/video. The IR will allow the camera to take pictures/videos at nighttime. The camera will automatically turn on the IR lights at night
I collect 16 cameras every morning so I can afford the storage space for longer videos. I agree with your logic in most settings. The resolution is a bit different on each camera so I choose the resolution that is the lowest before I see any difference with the highest that maintains 30fps.(sometimes FPS in the day maybe 30 but only15 at night) Often I can not see the difference between 2K and 4K but the frame rate goes way down. Some video editing software struggles with higher resolution.
Great video.👍 I have a question about my Apeman trail cam that maybe you can answer. I usually set it to take 15 sec videos but recently it only does a 5 second video most of the time, occasionally 10 secs and sometimes a full 15 seconds. Is there a reason for this? 🤔Thanks
Thanks for this video, so helpful, I’m setting up for the first time so your settings have given me a good bench mark. I have a Target Recording Time setting which you didn’t mention and Apart from mentioning 32 GT storage you didn’t say anything more about memory cards, apart from that brilliant, I’m looking forward to some great shots.....🤞
Thanks for watching and for the encouragement. I’m a little worried that the target recording setting should be off. When you want the camera to see movement and record (or take a picture) 24 hrs a day, the target recording should be “off” 👍
No. I always have that setting off. Target recording is when you want your camera to operate during certain hours of the day or night. Most people (including me) want my camera to operate 24/7 👍
Great tutorial Thank you I needed that for a trail camera I was setting up. Do you configure your own setting for SMPT. On the creative XP Raven trail camera I got an email from them suggesting that I set my own SMPT as they are only sending 50 emails a day. How do handle that. I get more then that some days. You mentioned your software that you process your videos and SD cards with do you mind sharing what you use. Thanks again I appreciate all of your videos. Good job.
Hi. On the photo stamp information at the bottom of the picture/video, what is the circle on the left side, sometimes completely white and other times black or half to 3/4 white? Thanks Nigel. Uk.
Greta info Dave, Same settings I use. except one of my cameras have a 30 sec video and the Tascos don't give you an option to change the length. I have been contemplating changing my IR flash lately. Seems I have been getting a lot of wash out and I am wondering if lowering the brightness will help with that. but like you said, then you risk the chance of not picking up what is further away.
It seems there’s no perfect solution because there are so many variables with trail cams and the environment we run them in. It’s still fun trying to figure it all out though 😜 Thanks for watching Joey 👍
Thanks for the encouragement Bobby. I enjoy your swamp cams. It’s fun seeing different species and country side. If I ever capture a gator on cam...something went wrong 😂🤣😂
Thanks Dave I suck at this stuff! Yes I’m a hipster duffass! I’ve taken my cameras down because some of the 170+ deer I’m after have spotted the RED GLOW at night and they don’t get old by being stupid! I’d like only daylight pictures or videos and a fellow from Exodus said there’s a way to set your cameras to daylight only…. Do you know how to do that? IMO nighttime pictures are useless except to let you know your either doing something wrong or don’t have a very good hunting parcel and need to work on that. Weren’t there big bucks taken before trail cameras?
Thanks for watching. I’m not familiar with Exodus camera settings. Many cameras do allow you to program the settings to have the camera active during certain hours (daytime etc). On mine it’s called work time or scheduled. Not sure what Exodus calls it (if they offer that option)
Great video! I have used these for years. But one big problem I have in Wyoming is the wind. What would you set you camera on to allow the camera to come on with an animal and not activate with winds. Even in trees we have high enough wind at times to trigger the camera. I get a card full of tree waving at you. Or the sage brush waving at you. I have just decided that there is no way to get away from this.
Wind (and sun) can be a real problem. As you said it’s nearly impossible to totally eliminate false triggers. Small adjustments in the mounting angle can help at times
I only use my own homemade solar setups and recently I began using WingHome solar panel with built in battery. The WingHome is out out stock for a while now. They are to be back in stock soon?!?
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial Thank you, I’ll look into that. I’m going around in circles here in the UK trying to sort it. My Campark T20 gets through 4batteries every 4days, and finding a solar panel that will charge during the day and release current during the night seems to be a problem. I can see that a solar panel with battery store could be the answer.
@@m1m5yp28 if available in the UK that panel should do the trick. It can operate either 6v or 12v cameras (I believe the campark is 6v if I remember correctly). The panel includes the cables that should work for your camera. Here is the video I did on it.... ua-cam.com/video/dYZHQjrkhZE/v-deo.html
Do u have any opinions on cellular trail cameras. I have bought several and it's missing lots of photos. Quality not good. Brand new to cellular trailcameras. Even put a regular trail camera up in same spot and getting way more pictures and better ones than on cellular one
I have not tested many cellular cams (yet) I’m currently using the Reolink Go ua-cam.com/video/f_WkyFf_jS4/v-deo.html as a cellular cam but it only sends videos rather than pictures (I actually prefer videos, so it’s great there) but I do have a cellular cam being delivered in the next few days that I’ll be testing. I’ll do a review on it at some point (after using it for a month or so) stay tuned 😁
Hi Dave, Thanks for you videos and advice ! I have a camera that I don’t understand how to settle it properly. It is taking 2500 false triggers (pictures and videos) a day. I had the picture + video mode, it seems that it was taking from around 8 in the morning to 6pm pictures every 40sec (more or less), but without being in the Timelapse mode. I am living in the desert in Baja California, so maybe the hot temperature or the wind ? I have already changed the PIR sensitive to medium, but still happened to the two camera of this model. Another model of camera that I used is not that sensitive to false triggers ! Do you know already had that issue ? Thank you for you help

Fun to share, won't have the fancy music like Paul! haha
Oh, and how if a simple branch moves it records zip. but newbees..
Paul’s right, lithium batteries are better. I also use solar panels which helps save money in the long run. Thanks for watching 👍
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just what i was looking for !
Thanks for watching and for the encouragement 👍
Thanks for posting. I ALWAYS learn something new from everyone. Good show.
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment 👍
Excellent presentation. Thanks to you
Thanks for watching and for the encouragement 👍
Awesome explanations! Thank you for explaining so I understand why.
Qual câmera e melhor que a Browning Recon force Edge, e mais barata ou alguma similar ?
Best trail cam video I seen so far, I set my cam up exactly the same way, if you can, it would be nice to show how you set up specific cams, like the browning or vikeri cams, go thru the settings those particular cams have
I appreciate you watching and for the suggestion 👍
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial I don't subscribe to many channels, but if I leave a comment and the person comments back, well that earns a sub, I know a lot of work goes into making these vids, I appreciate it, subbed up!!!!
Brilliant and very informative tutorial! THANK you SO much xxx
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! I appreciate it 👍
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial more than welcome thank you! 👍🤗
Great information bud I thanks for sharing I’ll be trying that this season !
Thanks for watching 👍
Really great information about trailcam settings. One of these days, I want to get a trailcam to set down by the creek, it would be interesting to see what passes by at night. 👍
I’m sure it would be interesting that know what all passes by when people aren’t around. Thanks for watching. I almost didn’t recognize you (you changed your profile pic) 👍
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial you're most welcome and thankyou. Thought it time to update my picture. 😊
great video thank you! Nice video shots of wildlife you got there!
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it 👍
Thanks for the video.
Haha! It happens to the best of us 😁
Thanks for watching 👍
Thank you. Gonna try to do mine again or I will be sending it back. I have a vikeri cam. Doesn't seem to want to record at night?
Thanks for watching. Hope it helps
You are awesome. My late husband use to set up cams so I learning. Can you tell me what “endless capture” means. Thank you.
Thanks for watching. Endless capture (when turned on or enabled) will allow the camera to continue operating even when your sd card is full. As it takes a new picture the oldest picture will be deleted to make room. When endless capture is off, the camera will stop working when the sd card is full.
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this information! It was so helpful!
I appreciate you watching 👍
Absolutely brilliant and extremely helpful. Thank you
I appreciate you watching. Thank you 👍
I've been running 720p with 16gb cards. I think I'll be getting bigger cards and going 1080p. Thanks for all the great tips.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your support 👍
Very insightful. Great video topic.
Helpful. Do you know what "motion filter" means on the Dargahou 4k 48 MP Trail Camera. Is this what is blocking the sensing of motion at more that 10'? I don't seem to be able to capture longer distance.
What is your favorite game camera that works the best and what is the correct position on a tree to place a game camera? Thanks
Wish you had told me how to set date and time . Although is seems elementary when l set mine it doesn't retain it. So l must be doing something wrong. Also is it possible to make red light not visible by covering it or is that a required function ?
Awesome video buddy! Thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate it 👍
Will medium sensitivity be able to pick up coyotes and rabbits?
Great video thank you so very much for helping me understand the settings you explained everything very well. Great video.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your encouragement 👍
I do like the 1520p great camera but does not take good far away shot at night that's the only down inside on it
Excellent video.
Great and informative video. Many Thanks Dave UK
What an outstanding video , do have a few questions on the GardePro E8PCF and sent you a note. 👍👍👍👍
Great trail cam series I need to get mine out when we put mineral out
Do you ever run cams on the properties you trap?
Ya. But never around our sets. We just run them for deer
Good deal. Running cams close to your sets definitely could be a liability (or in my case, it proves how bad of a trapper I really am) 😂🤣😂
I appreciate you watching and sharing your experience and thoughts 👍
Thanks buddy for all the great information my friend
Thanks for watching John! I appreciate it 👍
Thanks. That got me started.
Great video.👍 I have a question about my Apeman trail cam that maybe you can answer. I usually set it to take 15 sec videos but recently it only does a 5 second video most of the time, occasionally 10 secs and sometimes a full 15 seconds. Is there a reason for this? 🤔Thanks
Thanks for watching. Usually what you described is a battery issue. I recommend Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries.
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial I'll try changing them. Thank you😊
Thanks for this video, so helpful, I’m setting up for the first time so your settings have given me a good bench mark.
When you want the camera to see movement and record (or take a picture) 24 hrs a day, the target recording should be “off” 👍
So should it be on when I want to record video?
No. I always have that setting off. Target recording is when you want your camera to operate during certain hours of the day or night. Most people (including me) want my camera to operate 24/7 👍
Please do a video about cam placement, how high, pointing at what, etc
Thanks for watching and for the suggestion 👍
Great tips, thanks a lot.
I've left my first trail camera on the field with many sets presented here.
Curious to check the results 😅
I appreciate you watching. Enjoy your camera👍
I have a GardePto E6. Is there a problem shooting through a glass door to the outside? Mike
Good job.
I’m not sure if this will help you but check out how to setup your email starting at 8:32

Hi. On the photo stamp information at the bottom of the picture/video, what is the circle on the left side, sometimes completely white and other times black or half to 3/4 white? Thanks Nigel. Uk.
Thanks for watching! The symbol you are describing is the moon phase. All white would indicate full moon. 👍
It’s still fun trying to figure it all out though 😜
Thanks for watching Joey 👍
Awesome video Dave I love my Browning Trail cameras and thanks for the tips. Again awesome video! I do only videos as well.
Thanks for the encouragement Bobby. I enjoy your swamp cams. It’s fun seeing different species and country side. If I ever capture a gator on cam...something went wrong 😂🤣😂
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial Thanks again and stay well my friend
Love the tips, I was planning to switch to 20 second videos on mine. Thank you!
Thank you! I appreciate you watching 👍
I have the Garde E6 trail camera but the brightness seems pretty low, can you please advise me on how to improve 👍
My Victure camera is a lot brighter than
Great video! Do you set your videos to MP4 or MOV?
Thanks for watching. I use mp4 if given the option 👍
The 20 sec delay means recording won't start until 20 seconds after motion detection?
great information, very useful thanks for sharing
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment 👍
Hi Dave, can you recommend a solar panel for the Campark T20. Thanks

@@HuntingFarmerOfficial Just watched this looks like it’s the right one for me. I’ll just have to wait until it’s back in stock. Thanks again.
Hi Dave,
Thanks for you videos and advice !
