Kinda random, but during COVID when things were really awful I found your channel. I binged literally every video you had made because I really enjoyed your style of video. I know that you’ve been having a hard time, and have posted about it before, but I want you to know I really enjoy watching these videos! I hope you are able to continue making stuff at a pace that works for you and that you enjoy.
Thank you so much for the kind words, it means a lot! I'm really glad that our videos helped to pass the time through lockdown and that you're still here for some reason! I'll do what I can to keep the videos coming and not lose my mind in the process!
This channel is a solemn reminder that not all cool cars are rare 1 of 200 hyper fast machines. They are rust bucket jeeps you fix up and "restore" with friends, laughing all the way. A true car guys dream, working on THEIR car and enjoying it. Thanks man, and looking forward to the next one ! (I wanna see more on the Datsun! They are my fav cars, trying to find one here in MA without rust is like finding a needle in a needle stack!)
I really do love the Jeep series, a recommendation for Rob though, so long as that rust hasn't progressed *horribly* since filming, he may be able to just about get away with installing some sheet steel over the holes in the floor before he ends up going full flinstones mode when the carpet gives way, my 87 Cherokee had multiple spots in the floor where there were license plates jammed in under the carpet to keep it out of the holes in the floor pans
In case you need proof of how entertaining and engaging your videos are - I don't own a car, I'm not interested in cars and yet I've binged all your playlists several times now. Such a good watch!
this fanbase is very dedicated. we love watching you and Im not sure what it is about your projects but I feel like I would love to hangout with you and your buddies. That feeling translates well over your videos and I think thats why I keep coming back! keep the videos coming!
Now THAT'S a Jeep imo. I've been kinda on the edge of shelling out money for a 3 inch lift kit for my 1990 S10 4x4, but with just me doing the work, I didn't quite know if I could even do it. The only difference is I don't have to mess with coil springs like on the Jeep, lol. I enjoy watching ya'll get work done on these old vehicles, especially the videos with your S10 Blazer. A few vidyas helped me out with mine.
I joined this channel because of the XJ content, it is wonderful to see this thing make a come back. The original series of you guys bringing this back from the dead was my favourite.
Been following your channel for a while and appreciate the friends projects too. Rob doesn’t seem to be a natural mechanic the way you or the other guy from the Pinto trip are, but he makes up for it by seeming to be a lot of fun/having a good attitude even when things aren’t going well.
I never comment on YT, but I just wanted to let you know that I do thoroughly enjoy these videos, I think over the years I've watched through your whole channel 2-3 times. Keep up the good work, I wouldn't ever change anything about the formula you have going.
im absolutely loving these more frequent videos. even if theyre not always long, or as interesting as a big block super charged firebird. i look forward to every single one of these videos.
Great video, love the content...a small suggestion for wheel clearance issues, just get some wheel spacers won't have to worry about it rubbing against the sway bar links
just started watching they sale replacement modification tab that inserts into body for bolts to hold the upper shock. just hammer out the old studs use the new TAB with nuts on them to install /.
I usually spring for prebent stainless ones if they're available, but if I'm just doing one line or if they're not available, nicop absolutely cannot be beat.
4:50 Although the work is already done ! One tip for the the NiCopper brake lines is to get yourself a piece of wood drill, a hole thats the same size of the line and you got yourself a tool to where you can just pull the line to straighten out :D
@@TheBrokenLife glad I could help, I just did shackles on my dads truck and a guy from work suggested I do that, actually handed me a stack of washers on a string too😂
Looking good! I really like Rob's Jeep and hope to see it going for a long time to come. Any thoughts about getting a donor body when the rust totally overtakes that one?
You can also trim the sheet metal and remount the stock flares even with the bodyline. The rears will need cut and mounted to the rear door. Best to grab an extra pair just in case. Oh and some 1/8" 2x4" makes great replacement rockers to remove a lot of body flex.
Should Rob ever want to reconnect his front sway bar (I highly recommend it... especially since it looks like nobody replaced the track bar)... The knuckles have steering stop bolts, which are adjustable. Just remove them, install a shim under them (I used a washer), and put them back in. Now the wheels steer slightly less and you have slightly more tire clearance.
Love your videos. I would remove that rear sway bar entirely. The front sway bar is all an xj needs for highway speeds without issues and removing the rear sway bar gives the vehicle better off-road capabilities.
Hopefully not too long? I have some side stuff I need to finish first but that is my main priority as far as big videos go. I can't give a timeline though unfortunately
You have for a lot of effort to try to get that front bolt out same bolt in the front of my Jeep did that I think it was a passenger side one up at the top of the frame it seized in the sleeve beat it with a hammer didn't want to come out I end up using a Sawzall cut the head and the other end off and slid it out my friend works at Auto Body he had some extra ones so I just put a new one in I didn't want to go through as much problems with you guys are going through
We are already years behind on the firebird project and now we have to wade through a project that was last updated 4 years ago. The slow pace of the firebird project is already bad enough without you spreading your time into a project that was only a handful of videos compared to what most of us what. I am sincerely interested and invested in the firebird project but its almost been FIVE FREAKING years and its still not done and having to you split your limited time on an even older project is even even more frustrating.
Idk why they over complicate tires. Just put the 5 oz on it and ship it. It is what it is. I just had a tire replaced and he said the wheel is bent, I’m like idc I need To get to work and the wheel being bent doesn’t matter. And it doesn’t vibrate till like 100 mph so as long as I stick to 70 mph I’ll be fine.
@@upscaleshack flat spots on the tires are not compromising safety. It only affects comfort. It would be different if they were old but they were not. The fact that he drives it and he’s satisfied with it proves sometimes they just over complicate things.
@@upscaleshack my point is, I worked in the industry for 10 years and the road force machine was hit or miss. It was terribly inaccurate. They would road force horrible but would ride just fine and no vibrations. Tires would road force terribly and they were brand new and tell me “oh just put it in the back” I’m like what about when they rotate the tires? My point is there’s no need to over complicate things. It would be different if they were going in a brand new jeep but it’s going on an old jeep the tires did just fine. It’s all on perspective and what it’s going on.
It takes a tremendous amount of time to edit these videos, more than doing the work in most cases, so I've ended up really behind on editing these. I'm trying to catch up now though and get through some of these older ones!

I agree. I have watched the Blazer series 6 times.
I love Mike's content.
I second the hell out of this comment
IF he ever wants to get the floor patched with new metal let me know, I am always down to help! Keep up the great work!

probably cheaper and easier to just find a jeep in a better condition and move over the parts.
You can buy replacement sheet metal kits pretty affordably for XJs. A front floor pan is only about a hundred bucks.

Love watching you guys wrenching on this old rust bucket. Reminds me of my 95. (same color even) It even had matching structural carpeting.
inbetween this episode and the last I snapped my first suspension bolt clean in half so now I can relate too yay!

these videos are shot, directed, and edited so well man. you somehow make being a mechanic so fun and therapeutic (until it's time i go to work lmao)
This is defo in my top5 car channels! Love your style!
Always good for motivation. Maybe I'll go swap wheels on my oh, it's midnight and raining, maybe next weekend
Glad to see the end result on the Jeep - a nice lift and tires without making it look ridiculous.
Although a little ridiculousness is ok🙂
Two weeks of uploads. May is a good month
A new video so soon? Lucky us!
I'm really glad I got to see how the jeep turned out
Very cool. I always enjoy a new video. Next jeep video fix the floors ?

Love this build!! Great video as always!!
I've always had a soft spot for the venerable Cherokee. Hope he paints those rusty rims. Good job👍🏾

A lot of times you can cut the head off off the bolt and stack washers and run the nut on to pull it through the bushing
That is an excellent suggestion that I fully intend to try. 👍

It's a shame your channel isn't getting more views cuz it deserves them tbh
I was just starting to think you'd recovered from your torque wrench addiction 😆
I think it's time to address the rust!
MUCH better with the taller tires...
Great work!
Very cool, keep recycling those vehicles Fellas!
You should go buy vehicles from dry places and drive them back during the winter times. Not in June in AZ... hehe
I have no front or rear sway bars on my 96 I've been driving like that for the last 50 or so thousand miles

That junkyard wasn't Crazy Ray's was it? It looks too organized and non-muddy...
Patch the floor. Rivet some tin on there

Weld in a DIY frame stiffener/connector. Common fix for body flex on XJs.
When do we get to see the Firebird engine running? ❤

Just hook up evaporust to a power washer and go to town.
Off topic but does rob still have that hhr? Those things where so funky I’d be cool to see you guys work on that thing
Man we're getting spoiled
Here 2 minutes in :)
i think its time to build a Cobra man. like seriously, factory five or whatever. you clearly have the skill.
I was waiting after doing the lift in the garage, you raised it so high that the roof rack was rubbing on the garage door.
this happened before the Pinto.. stop messing with us 😁
You need a new tire shop. The red dot should be lined up with the fill valve. Makes balancing easier with less weights.
Oh good catch! I didn't notice that they weren't lined up right, but I'm not too surprised haha. That would be more ideal.
Could've wire wheeled the wheels and made them look better for safety, but overall awesome to see the Jeep being brought back to life.
"For raised sus only" 😁
Hey there! Great video! Are you interested in testing Jeep headlights? I mean sponsorship collab.
Why does the bumper seem to be sagging on the passenger side towards the end of the video?
This entire car is held together by rust. crazy!

Good stuff. But, Robb, ya need to drops some lbs. for ur health man.
Goodyear wrangler used to be good tires but aince walmart bought them theyve been crap IMO
all this on this almost rusted through jeep
