That's his voice goin through the electronic "Talk Box". Joe Walsh had a great solo career, his own band and was also part of the Eagles with some classic guitar duos
Actually, it's not his voice going through the talk box because his vocal chords don't produce any of the sound. The sound is produced by the guitar and the shapes he make with his mouth determine how the Talk Box makes the guitar sound.
A really good use of that was on Steely Dan's, "Haitian Divorce". The guitarist laid down the track playing clean, ( no effects). Then the story goes that Walter Becker fed that through the keyboard with a talkbox attached. That song is something everyone should hear!
The talk box is an effect in which the guitar player puts a tube in his mouth, connected to a guitar pedal. He can then alter the sound with his mouth as he's playing. Joe Walsh and Peter Frampton were two of the first to use it to mass appeal. Check out Peter Frampton's - Do You Feel Like We Do. Even bigger hit that really brought talk box to the forefront in the 70's.✌
The great Joe Walsh. Founder of his first Band in the 70s "The James Gang." Then a solo career for a few years. And finally, his epic musical journey with "The Eagles." One of the great guitarists and writers ever.
@@oahts5906 Yep back in the day it was much better then now! I'm 65 and was born and raised in Denver. we always were outside and doing what ever loved it, Been living in Phoenix for the past 34 years. Bless you guys Love and Peace Man!
It's both his voice and him playing his guitar together through an electronic device called a "Talk Box." It blends his voice and the guitar together into what you just heard. This was the latest technology in the early 70s, and other artists such as Peter Frampton used it on his huge hit song "Do You Feel Like We Do," back in 1976.
JOE WALSH, "ROCKY MOUNTAIN WAY" HIS USE OF THE 'TALK BOX' IN THIS SONG. IS DEMONSTRATED BY PETER FRAMPTON "DO YOU FEEL LIKE I DO?", A COUPLE YEARS LATER HE PERFORMED LIVE ON THE 70'S SHOW. The "Midnight Special" A show that was on TV at midnight Saturday night. Featured several bands performing songs. Peace ✌.
To find out how he does the wabling sound, check out Joe Walsh live ar Daryl's House. Lot of other artists available at this venue too, all by inviation only.
Joe Walsh from the Eagle's is one of the best grungy blues rockers to ever live. He was also the one true love of Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac. Please do more Stevie or Fleetwood Mac 🙏🏻🖤 Big Love, Gypsy, Go your own way, Rhiannon 🔥
Speaking of the Eagles, I seen them live with some friends back in 2002. Joe Walsh was wearing a helmet that reminds of Miner's helmet, but his helmet had a camera. As Joe jamming, you can see the audience from his point of view. Besides with Eagles, I have also seen him opening up for another legend, Tom Petty with his band, Heartbreakers months before his sad sudden death in 2017.
A talk box.The guitar is played into his mouth through a tube. It makes the noise instead of his vocal cords and mouth shape alters the sound just like with your voice. Its like talking with and electric guitar for your larynx.
I enjoy watching you two having fun listening to old school rock that i been growing up whit im 53 years old and if you to listen to the gooddest song ever made in rock ask me and you wont regret
I really enjoy watching you two react to everything that you do, but mainly to classic rock gems like this. You just can't go wrong when you dial back the clock to the '60s, '70s & early '80s. It's even more fun to see y'all discover & enjoy a part of the music that so many of us have loved forever, Thank you for sharing your experiences with us, 🤟🎶💜🎶
Yooo---you definitely need to check him out live at Daryl's house. And another banger at Daryl's house (they all are for real) is with Cee-Lo "I can't go for that" Daryl has all different genres of musicians come to his crib and they jam.

Saw Joe in concert. At the beginning of this song his comment was " If I knew when I wrote this song I would have to play it every night, I would have written a different song".
So glad you checked this one out, I thought you’d like it 💕 I saw him play at the Metro Zoo in Miami in the late 80’s, he was incredible. Bad Company “Rock N Roll Fantasy” is another great one to react to. Also Michael Jackson did a cover of the Beatles “Come Together” there’s an official video from 1988 that you will LOVE!!! 🔥🔥🔥 It’s my favorite cover of that song 🎶 Even though Aerosmith did an amazing job covering it also.
If I'm correct, the guitar sound is fed though the tube that goes into your mouth. The music echos and is manipulated with your mouth and then the mic your singing in picks it up...
That's his voice goin through the electronic "Talk Box". Joe Walsh had a great solo career, his own band and was also part of the Eagles with some classic guitar duos
Correct, a talk box! Peter Frampton used it as well among others!

Took a minute to get the talk box down. Early days of it it was known to break the teeth.
A really good use of that was on Steely Dan's, "Haitian Divorce". The guitarist laid down the track playing clean, ( no effects). Then the story goes that Walter Becker fed that through the keyboard with a talkbox attached. That song is something everyone should hear!
U knw joe walsh is the first musician to use the voice box

Was just thinking about the same people & equipment.
And from some years later, don't forget Pink Floyd's David Gilmour on "Keep Talking" - great song.
Ohh thank you!! 🙏💯
Hi Guys, If you react to " Do You Feel Like We Do " make sure it's the " Frampton Comes Alive " Version, it's by far the best.

Joe was amazing...now it's time for the Eagles !!
The 1977 Live performance at the Capital Centre of Hotel California is the best!
I was there.

I have liked Joe since the early 70's and this album was great. He wrote this song while staying in Colorado hence the name!
Wow awesome, didn’t know that! I’m sure Colorado in the 70’s was a very different place than it is now sadly

@@timfoley6718 "the eagles broght joe into the bring for a more hard rock sound"
Mission accomplished.
Not all of them did good solo
I think you'd both love "Funk #49" from Joe's first band, The James Gang. It's a party in a song!💙☮
I saw him do this live with the Eagles just a couple of weeks ago. They tore it up.
I saw Joe Walsh open for Elton John at Dodger Stadium in 1975 or 76. It was the best concert I'd ever been too

Others have mentioned the Heil Talk Box that Joe uses during the guitar work. Peter Frampton is also a heavy user.
