Many animals wouldn't fare well in Siberia's frigid temperatures, but musk ox are built to withstand these conditions. What are your thoughts on their ability to live in this intense cold?
You said they are built to withstand these conditions! Indeed they're built by the creator of universe, who gave every creature his way of life and guided them! God who knows what they need in such harsh environment.
russia isnt as other countries that destroy species. most northern eastern russian wilderness dont even need real protection, cause people cant really go to most of those parts, they are extremely hard to reach, no roads and cities around
So much heavy snow & cold, documentary & filming is not easy in these conditions, glad to see that calf surviving... Quality content provided by NAT GEO WILD... thanks
What do they eat in this extreme conditions? So amazing.i think the little ones are having hard time since their fur is not fully grown to shield them against these extre weather.
One of the benefits of the increased Co2 levels is a better environment for plants to thrive which equals more food for grazing animals such as Musk Oxen.
I don't know why but these oxen remind me of a scene from Star Wars where Solo had to tuck Skywalker inside a dead "dinosaur-like" animal I think? Ugh.. Sorry. Well, these musk ox looks like it has no problem adapting to the harsh cold environment at all. :) Thanks for sharing National Geographic.
Azliana Lyana Yeah, the Tauntaun. It's because of their curved horns, thick coat of fur and the environment they live in. I was going to say the same thing.
The narrator sounds like he has a subwoofer in his throat. I like the way he paints pictures with his words. Is he the same guy who narrated THE LAST LIONS? @natgeo
I can wear four layers of jackets made up from polyester and threads 🧵 but plz don’t kill them for humans comfort😢 If you see them plz leave them alone

The Muskox (Ovibos moschatus) is a bear-sized bovid native to the northern hemisphere, it is the only extant species of the genus Ovibos, its closest living relative is the Takin (Budorcas taxicolor), this makes both species the only surviving members of the tribe Ovibovini, surprisingly, Ovibovini is one of only three extant tribes that are now belong to a new subfamily known as Ovibovinae, the others being the tribes Hemitragini (Tahrs) and Naemorhedini (Gorals, Serows, Chamoises, and Mountain Goat), it is also hinted that the subfamily Ovibovinae is fairly similar and most closely related to the subfamilies Hippotraginae (Grazing Antelope) and Alcelaphinae (Hartebeests, Wildebeests, Hirola, and Tsessebees).

We build tools to survive, they evolve to survive.
Good video!!!
Humans are so weak, dominant only because of their brains....these animals are marvels of evolution and should be revered !

They also have serious plans to bring back and reintroduce the woolly mammoth. I hope this happens soon!
Channel 1 yep they just need to extract the Mammoth DNA found in that mosquito preserved in amber. Any day now.
They have found well preserved mammoths frozen in ice

Natural formation. Muskak, Bison and Yak are the same similar species but because of food and environment appearance different. Like humans too.
What will they eat?
Grass under the ice
what do they eat naturally in such a frozen place?
What they eat it?
2:02 Lichens? Muskoxen only eat plants, which is why they’re not suited for many areas where reindeers prosper.
Brutal conditions. But they just seem to get along. Night time footage of how they sleep would be interesting.
Beautiful
Definitely mammoth-like
They seem regal.
They must have the warmest coats in the animal kingdom.
Polar bear have one of best coat, in winter they cant even be picked up by thermal cameras
