  • Paulsboro, NJ - District 17 initially dispatched for the fire alarm on the 1200 block of N. Delaware Street. Prior to FD arrival, Police confirmed there was an active fire at the address. Arriving units upgraded the assignment and went in to service. Fire was quickly contained to the small structure that was attached to the business. Units cleared up, about an hour after the original call.

I think it's great you guys let ride-alongs that close to the scene. Where I work the general public with no safety gear isn't allowed to live the dream like that old guy is.

The old guy happens to own that business and is also a fire fighter in town. I believe he was the fire chief many years ago.

After watching this video, I felt that I had to give credit where credit was do, as such, I would say, nice job to the FD for ventilating the single story garage's roof after the fire was out, it made for good camera filming. I also found the volunteers passing out water to be interesting, seeing as how none of the FD personel on the scene ever performed enough real firefighting work to even break out a sweat. To top the whole video, I was extremely impressed in seeing that it was a civilian with white hair and baggy pants who was directing the firefighting. I suppose that Fire Command must have been somewhere around the corner drinking one of those free bottles of water.
Paulsboro, a true blue VFD to be proud of, from the on fire grounds, Fire Command Chief (wherever he was) down to each and ever one of those poor overworked weary firefighters. On second thought, there is the possibility that these guys need to consider switching to a more suitable profession, maybe one as a City Parking Meter Maid or something on that level.

Yeah, because you can't get dehydrated just from wearing fire gear and carrying a pack around...
Why would you want to prevent heat injuries and dehydration??? I mean, going down on a fire means you're salty right???. SMH.

The white haired civilian was fire chief at one time and is a current member of the department.

Uh, even busy depts are supposed to show up in clean gear. Guess you like having all those toxins on your gear and looking salty, like it actually mean something.

white hat just means his friends voted him in. that's pretty much the resume. and then there's a yellow hat (with no scba) walking all around doing the chief stuff. Yellow is not chief in normal worlds.

They should have gotten that old man away from there. WTH. Shouldn't have been there in the way. Could have been a victim if it would have blown into full scale fire.
