    Just another reason to love Orange amps! Its nice to see a founder of a major company so chill and down to earth. I knew there was a reason I liked Orange so much, other than the unmistakable tone :)

    Cliff and Orange in general are such.... unique things. Usually the big boy amp people don't really care for the more..... "unsavory" bands that play their stuff. Like, I don't think Marshall has ever acknowledged the fact that Death and Black metal bands played a lot of Marshall amps back in the day, for example. But Orange and Cliff absolutely love all the stoners and doomers who play the amps. It's great, really!

    I’ve always thought of Marshall amps as the best. That was until I plugged into an Orange amp for the first time. I fell in love immediately. Even the amps made in China sound amazing. My next amp will be an Orange made in U.K. proper half stack. I still like Marshall as my #2 amp but Orange is #1 from now on. Best sounding amps in the world!

OMEC (Orange Music Electronic Company) and it's associated label, booking agency, artist management, etc. was still owned and run by Cliff. 7:23 - He just 'rented' the amp name to Gibson.

    if my mesa boogie ever gets beyond fixing or I need more wattage then I will buy an orange.i think they sound the best.i have seen many reviews and shootouts comparing to other amps,and heard them played live by eagles of death metal.I have only played through one of their transistor amps but I was super impressed at how great it sounded

    • @moustachio334
      @moustachio334 2 роки тому

      The Orange clean sound is very full and warm. Every amp has a slightly different overdrive sound however. I’ve heard the Rockerverb called a British Mesa Boogie on the dirty channel. Idk about that. I had a TH30 and OR50. TH30 had a huge clean sound that went into a singing sustain sound very easily and the OD was too tight for my tastes. I replaced the V1 for a 5751 tube and it smoothed the lead tone. I wanted a single channel and got the OR50. That amp was a monster. Had huge warm cleans to classic rock to fuzzed out lead.

    This interview is gold why does it have eight k views?? Hey trey i have a sick modern tone dialed in with my micro terror and I was wondering if you thought purchasing the Jim root orange would be worth the money for a modern tone keeping in mind that my tone is already sick with the micro. I see some cheap used ones on reverb for about four hundred which to me is insane for a tube amp.

  • @erivers71
    @erivers71 3 роки тому

    I have 2 OR 15s and a Rockerverb 50 as well as 3 PC 112s and 1 PC 212. By far the best amps made: simple signal path gives you the best tone; with all tube amps. Not a fan o Crush just because I’m older and can afford the better sounding tube amps. Used to have a Dark terror and I lived that amp too. I still need a 100 watt Rockerverb and a 4 x 12. Donations are kindly accepted here at Eric’s private Orange shop. Ha! Great video lads; Cheers from the USA. I used to play Mesa and Marshall’s gave all those up for my Oranges.

  • @louderthangod
    @louderthangod 6 років тому +4

    Wow, no mention of the real origin of the amps and Mat Mathias and Matamp who made all those early Oranges (like Jimmy Page’s old Orange which says Matamp on it). Cliff Cooper just changed the tolex color and logo and didn’t even bother to change the unique Matamp layout and style. Seems like a nice enough guy but the real credit for all of the sonic qualities of the classic models needs to go to Mat Mathias.

      @@aitkenaudio9669 Neither matamps or the slight changes orange did to them made them anything like a marshall, I dont think that was their aim, and if it was they had no clue. I have had many 70s oranges and matamps and know the circuits well (as well as many 70s marshalls, etc) but yeah mat was the main originator tho they were basically hifi pa type amps to start, not guitar amps. Like all the classic amp designs of the 60s, none of the companies made them with distortion in mind at all, that was only an afterthought once people started using them that way they were all made for clean to start, even 60s marshalls
