I LOVE my Xootr MG. I'm 63 years old, 60+ pounds overweight, and have some balance issues - I fall fairly frequently. I recently carried this onto 4 separate airplanes to San Diego, CA and back (to TN) using the special carry bag you can purchase just for this scooter. I kick scooted around Ocean Beach, San Diego while others much younger than I rode the electric kick versions available to rent on many corners. When using it, I feel like I don't have any balance issues at all. It's so smooth and stable. From the UA-cam videos I've watched here, including this one, I see most people placing their feet side by side on the kickboard. I don't. I put one foot in front (stays on the board), and the one with which I "kick", I placed in a ball of the foot on the board while my heel lightly touched the back fender, which also serves as the rear break - the way the kids ride their scooters. It was much easier than I expected... especially with my balance issues.

Fantastic. I have been using scooters for 23 years .i’m 66 now. One stays in excellent physical shape too.
Core muscles, abdominal muscles and lower back muscles workout while riding a scooter. Since it requires kicking, one will boost the leg strength. Many fitness experts have said that riding a scooter gives more benefits to a human body than running, jogging and cycling do.

Great honest review, this is exactly I was looking for. I ordered mine today and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I am so excited as its deck is wide to place both feet at a time and long enough to give a ride to my little one when she gets tired of riding her own scooter. Weigh of both would not be an issue.

Well done, Jonathan. I am a senior also 7 own a Xootr Ultra Cruz. It's very handy and has increased my mobility. Great for the environment and my health! Not many of these in KY, mostly see electric rental scooters here. Great review, Ambassador!

Thanks. A 5 - 7 mile ride on any of several nearby well paved bike trails 2 - 3 times a week is my preferred rhythm.

Nice. Last year at age 65 I rode the shiminamii kaido bike trail in Southern Japan for a distance of 200 miles with 35 pounds of camping gear hanging off my xootr Venus. The bag was excellent for carrying the unit on the bullet trains and subways. The bag was tied to the deck with the zipper up to the handlebar with tent and gear. I carried my sleeping bag rolled off the handlebar at the front, and a small backpack on my back. Awesome fun xootring in Japan..the xootr bag was essential..

Way to go! Where did you buy your Xootr from? I also live in Japan and can’t find a Xootr here.

@@zubrach Me too, I just buy from amazon usa and they will ship it to japan cheaply and quickly. I bought the dash before but I didn't like how it vibrated so much on the roads, so I sold it and I'm going to try the xootr cruz and also a mibo tiny and a know ped.Not sure which will be the best. The fastest I have is the mibo revoo with racing tires but obviously it isn't as portable.
I took a razor air a5 down to chiba and and also enoshima with camping gear and/or chairs, but the a5 isn't a high quality enough product, stuff jiggles a lot and the folding mechanism is difficult and hard to inflate the tires.

Appreciate your video. As a disabled vietnam Veteran with shot knees, maybe I should get one. I liked the looks of the STREET Xootr. Who knows, maybe I’ll see ya on the trail.

Hi, i just got a Xootr and its truly a piece of art. When it gets bumpy, do you mind or notice the handlebars gets a little out of line with the front tire? Thank you for the content!

Should be fixable with quarter turn tightening of steering post bolt lever. High speed, like on an underpass downhill, is tricky.... sometimes best walked, for safety. I'm increasingly respectful of the conceptual artistic rhythm of the Xootr... keep it in its intended energy zone.... 4 - 9 mph... on good pavement.... and you'll resonate with it, using it as the Universe intended. .

yeah well I've got a Razor A5 Air and a Razor A5 hard-tyre and...my Razor A6 will be delivered any day now. So there! Might buy a Xootr for kicks (no pun) one day just to see how it compares.

I bought me a Xootr MG scooter also and I agree totally with you on how great it is for getting around the city, especially combined with public transportation. I even wrote an article on it andythousand.com/xootr-mg-scooter-kicks-butt/, which Xootr featured on social media.

I bought my first Xootr in 2007 or 2008 to use in Greece to extend my range on buses and metro trains. It beats walking or bringing a folding bike. I've since ridden it in London, and in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and even in Axum Ethiopia. Of course I use it in the US, and for fun or for a 'pick-me-up' when I wasn't feeling cheerful, I'd take my Xootr to the Capital Mall in Wash Dc and ride around looking for couples taking pictures of one another, and I'd stop and offer to take pictures of them both. I'm a pretty good photographer. People almost always accepted the offer, and I got an opportunity to chat with them which cheered me up as much as sun breaking thru on a cloudy day ! I even let a little boy (12-ish, small for his age, I guess) wearing a tuxedo ride around in front of the Lincoln memorial when he and a dozen boys and girls in formal attire arrived to take pictures. They were all part of a quinceañera entourage.
In recent years I've had problems with neuropathy, and can't walk thru the large grocery stores or a shopping mall. I have been riding my scooter to do light shopping. No one stopped me, and store managers have given me the 'go-ahead'. Lots of uses for this scooter. I'm now 65 and have been riding a Xootr for about 14 yrs. I left one at a car wash one day, but it was gone when I realized it and went back. Finders-keepers-loosers-weepers. I bought another one immediately.

There are risks in everything we do in life. I try to balance between benefit of preserving what's left of my leg strength vs slower protective reflexes in the event of a fall; between seeing the world from the treadmill in the gym I go to vs feeling the world glide beneath me as I scoot in the sunshine.... recognizing that with a broken hip or busted shoulder or head injury it'll all be over.

Test ride one on a show room floor. Order from the Xootr factory. Get the Ergo handlebar grips, $15 extra. Personally my fave is the MG… but the dimensions are identical to the Cruz and Street models. Let me know how you like it. Get a helmet, at Big 5.
