“Soul of a woman was created below!” Amber, the look on your face was priceless when he sang that line! That made my day! That’s Robert Plant you’re asking about. I believe he was told, early on by a record company guy, that he didn’t have what it took to be a lead singer! WTF? 😂✌️
That line is the title of a Jake Holmes song called "Soul of a Woman", performed by the Four Seasons on their album, "Genuine Imitation Life Gazette". Holmes wrote "Dazed and Confused". ua-cam.com/video/iwrbN-dkiu8/v-deo.html
You need to do Stairway to Heaven live version it is considered by some as their signature song. Babe I'm Gonna leave You is also a great song from their first album I t is pure Zepplin blues with lots of turns.
The other half of the "call and response" after Robert Plants vocals was Jimmy Page playing his guitar with a cello bow. Absolutely ground breaking band and music.
was lucky to see Led Zeppelin perform live at Usher Hall in Edinburgh 1970 - Jimmy Page playing his guitar on this song with a cello/violin bow blew me away !
Keep in mind this is their first album. They LOUDLY announced to the world who they were. This song has it all: Blues, psychedelic, hard rock. The song allows each of the 4 brilliant band members to shine on their own at different parts of the song. Probably my favorite of theirs.
saying "I haven't heard this side of them" simply means that you're listening in the wrong direction. i recommend, when a band has albums that are numbered, start with the first one. actually, you should always work forward, to better understand the journey they took to get where they ended up. this song, written and performed by Jake Holmes, covered by the Jimmy Page era of the Yardbirds, then re-imagined (a bit) by Led Zeppelin is the PERFECT example of how the blues became rock music. and you can follow that progression by listening to Led Zeppelin albums in order
What...reimagined a bit? Led Zeppelin took into the stratosphere! This band had the perfect line-up, so in sync with each other. This began life as a Jake Holmes folky acoustic song and, after he was their support act, Jimmy transformed it for The Yardbirds. Compare The Yardbirds with Zepp's version though and it just pales beside it, it was certainly a good attempt but Jimmy must have known it had much more potential in the right hands. I don't just think they needed this song to fill up Zepp's first album, I believe it's a massive statement of intent, the fact Jimmy had it as the band's introduction to the world.
John Bonham was one of the best drummers of all time. The sound of his drums was always over-emphasized and the sound quality was always top notch. "When the Levee Breaks" is an amazing showcase for Bonham's drumming. That recording was done in a 18th-century stone building and the drums were set up in a hallway. The acoustics for the drums echoed and reverberated. Amazing.
@@timothynewkirk2654 Sorry, but even Keith thought that Bonham was the better drummer - never mind that John was voted the best drummer for 6 years in a row, and is STILL considered the best ever by today's drummers.
That really is true. Every song is its own journey, unique to itself, but all uniquely them. I personally think Pink Floyd does far better album composition, but Zeppelin is a master of song craft in its own right.
Good catch, the movie IS actually named after this song. Prince described every Zeppelin song as being it’s own individual color. Their versatility was a massive influence to him and pretty much almost every band that followed since the 70s.

Led Zeppelin is the greatest of all time. Robert Plant’s voice is beyond compare. I’m so glad young people like u are discovering their greatness. For a great guitar solo u need to do Stairway to Heaven. Robert lost his 5 year old son in 1977 and his best friend, Jon Bonham, the drummer, in 1980. It affected him greatly.

Actually for this album, he didn't have his Les Paul yet. He was still playing his 1959 Fender Telecaster with the dragon that he painted on it himself. He didn't start using the Les Paul until midway through recording the Led Zepellin II.
In order to set the record straight, Page was not the first to use a bow on the guitar. Eddie Phillips of the UK mod band The Creation was the first. He was doing it as early as 1966-67. So, it was just another thing that Page lifted. Page used a bow as early as 1968 when he was in the Yardbirds.
You gotta react to "You Shook Me." Obviously. 🙂 And "When the Levee Breaks," and "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You," and a million others. The earlier stuff was more blues/hard rock, and Robert Plant was singing at his peak and could belt it out with ridiculous amounts of soul and passion. . By the way, that sound that was matching Robert Plant's singing was the great Jimmy Page using a cello bow on his guitar, one of his hallmarks.
Love LZ ❤️All their songs are great Rock !!!!! Black Dog is one of my favorites 👏👏Used to listen to them constantly 😎😎I’m 62 now and still love LZ 😎😎😎😎😎
The back-and-forth between the guitar licks and Robert Plant's mimicry feels like a variation of 'call and response' to me. It shows an interactive awareness between the musicians in the moment--being locked in to the same groove... it always feels invigorating when I hear it. You're lucky--there's still so much new/great Zeppelin for you to explore and discover!! :)
Gotta remember that the band was strongly influenced by American blues. Call and response is a staple of the blues. Plant and Page demonstrated their mastery of the technique.
I can't get enough of watching you guys react to such classic songs from times long ago...Led Zeppelin were THE heavy rock gods! They paved a path that no one could follow, all we could do is listen in wonder and awe!
it's like seeing the world all new through the eyes of these children. it soothes my soul to see the young even giving our music a listen, even more so when they truly give their attention and consideration of what the music is saying.
I was 11 years old when this came out. I'm 65 now, and I still rock with these guys. Try the live version if you really want to experience Jimmy Page at his very best.
The last 4-5 minutes of the live version from MSG 1973 are my favorit minutes in rock history! Been listening to it for 33 years and counting.. Jimmy is the reason I picked up a guitar.
Ahhh yes LED ZEPPELIN,enjoy guys , my uncles growing up always in the Garage jamming on their guitars & drums to Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rainbow ,Pink Floyd …🌈 ohhh man practically every rock band 🎸 us kids use to sit there pretending we were at a concert lol 😆 Can never forget these Rock moments in time,…enjoy you guys love your reactions….take care
Zeppelin had one of the best drummers in rock history (some say best). His name is John Bonham (RIP). Robert Plant has arguably the best voice in rock history.
The Led Zep boys were young when they recorded this, off their first album in 1968. The instrument you hear Robert singing along with is a guitar being played with a cello bow, giving it that eerie sound.
There’s a “Dazed and Confused” from 1993. movie starring Matthew McConaughey. It was his breakout role. It’s set in 1976 on their last day of high school, about a group of (mostly) seniors and their quest to get high, drunk and laid. Hilariously funny.

Female Friday SUGGESTION: HEART performing Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven for the induction of Led Zeppelin to the Kennedy Center Honors. The video is an experience to see and Heart with Jason Bonham (the late John Bonham's son on drums wearing his father's bolo hat) brought a tear to Robert Plant's eyes while watching from the balcony. It is a masterpiece. Here is a link: ua-cam.com/video/LFxOaDeJmXk/v-deo.html
My favorite female-led hard rock band performing one of the most famous songs by my favorite male hard rock band! I watched that performance when it originally aired and I was blown away.
They had originally invited Jason to attend and sit with them, but he declined stating that he had to play a gig that night. What he didn't tell them was that the gig was playing with Heart for them. Many tears were shed that night, and on subsequent nights replaying that video.
It always amazes me how good the remastered versions of zeppelins early work sounds. This track especially has EXCELLENT mixing. Just always found it interesting considering this is their first album and a product of the 60s.
This is from their first album. You can imagine how it knocked our socks off more than 50 years ago! Can you imagine? This song is more than half century old. Sounds as good now as it did then. The part that you said sounded trippy was the great Jimmy Page using a bow and wa-wa peddle on his guitar. Lead singer, Robert Plant, also plays the blues harp in this and other Zep songs. Drums are courtesy of Mr. Jon Bonham (RIP), universally considered one the best rock drummers of all time. On bass is the great John Paul Jones, who also plays keyboards when needed, as on the highly recommended song "Kashmir." Led Zeppelin is still influencing musicians to this day.
Robert Plant is the singer. This song has so many changes. They take you up and down not straight across like a lot of bands. Glad you liked the song!!
I have been riding the Zeppelin for Fifty plus years. Can't say enough. Just listen. I need to chill. My Zeppelin journey is mine thank you. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
The instrument was a bow from a violin on the guitar, that wa ac the different noise on guitar. The video on this song would show you that Robert Plant is the singer you should look at his solo career too, its outstanding.

Another great song from this album is You Shook Me. It's a slow, bluesy song with an organ solo, a harmonica solo, and a guitar solo, then the ending has Robert (singer) imitate Jimmy's guitar playing. It's so good.
YAYYYY!!! Every time you react to them or Heart I'm going to throw this suggestion out there... Heart singing Stairway to Heaven in front of the remaining members of Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors. It will KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF.... patiently waiting for the day you get to enjoy that amazing performance. Has Robert Plant visibly SHOOK lol.
The story goes Keith Moon gave them their name after hearing them he commented that they were going hit the US like a Lead Balloon. The group took the name Led Zeppelin but took the 'a' out because they figured the people in the US would pronounce it 'lead' Zeppelin not Led Zeppelin.
I've heard that the name was first proposed by John Entwistle, as the name of a possible band with he, Page and Keith Moon, with a singer to be named later. They were all playing together on a recording session backing Jeff Beck.
I am so jealous of you both. I remember hearing this as a young lad. I lost hearing in my left ear five years ago and can no longer enjoy stereo any longer. All the great music you both are starting to find out about. All the sweet subtleties and down right dirty tricks. I hope you both enjoy and learn to love rock and roll as much as I did and still do.
“Since I’ve been lovin you” is a must see! hubba hubba!
My favorite!
You gotta react to "You Shook Me." Obviously. 🙂
And "When the Levee Breaks," and "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You," and a million others.
@Penderyn Lewsyn Absolutely!
This is a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT Song! Classic . . . .
grew up with this song played in my house all the time. both my parents were heavy into rock. my mom used to always sing " Black Dog".
Love LZ ❤️All their songs are great Rock !!!!! Black Dog is one of my favorites 👏👏Used to listen to them constantly 😎😎I’m 62 now and still love LZ 😎😎😎😎😎
Driving to school in my 67 ‘stang with LZ in the 8 track
@@DMUSA536 we had the 69 fastback. dad took out the back seat and mounted my baby seat in the back. not really legal. lol
This song is where Jimmie paige plays his guitar with a bow while Robert was matching the notes
Plant and Page demonstrated their mastery of the technique.
at the same time that plant and page are doing call and response, john bonham and john paul jones are doing the same with drums and bass...
Yeah it literally is call and response
1973 Madison Square Garden.."Since I've Been Loving You" It's fire!!
That's what makes Zepp unique,.....they never rip you off just TOP YOU OFF!
Come on y'all, get some of "When the Levee Breaks", by the mighty Zeppelin.
They just did it, I think
My favorite Zeppelin song! 😎
Same my brother. All the best. Always.
Ahhh yes LED ZEPPELIN,enjoy guys , my uncles growing up always in the Garage jamming on their guitars & drums to Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rainbow ,Pink Floyd …🌈 ohhh man practically every rock band 🎸 us kids use to sit there pretending we were at a concert lol 😆
Can never forget these Rock moments in time,…enjoy you guys love your reactions….take care
Another incredible song from my favourite band.
Zeppelin had one of the best drummers in rock history (some say best). His name is John Bonham (RIP). Robert Plant has arguably the best voice in rock history.
Bonham in my opinion is the best
The Chemistry of the members of Led Zeppelin will NEVER be duplicated.
The Led Zep boys were young when they recorded this, off their first album in 1968. The instrument you hear Robert singing along with is a guitar being played with a cello bow, giving it that eerie sound.
When The Levy Breaks!! Definitely. It has my favorite drum performance of all time!!!
*levee
Check out the Lemon Song for us when the kids aren’t around 😎
YES
One of my faves!
And Black Dog. Meke sure your girls aren't around. And by the way.... There's not a single black dog in those ryrics what so ever. 😏
My dad freaked when he heard it blasting from my room as a teen in the 70s. Younger siblings and all that.
That's what I was thinking, the expressions on their faces would be priceless. I'm laughing just picturing their faces now.👍
Sad part is that you'll never find complex and wonderful music like this on the charts of today.
Radiohead are pretty good.
There’s a “Dazed and Confused” from 1993. movie starring Matthew McConaughey. It was his breakout role. It’s set in 1976 on their last day of high school, about a group of (mostly) seniors and their quest to get high, drunk and laid. Hilariously funny.
Has nothing to do with the song though
Yes the movie...nothing to do with Zeppelin...was really good...as I was 16 in 1976!
@@juliemanarin4127 Not a direct reference to the song, but appropriately titled as a nod to the stoner rock era.
YOU have to PLEEEEEASE React to Led Zeppelins SONG ,,, Stair way to Heaven PLEEEEEASE Live From Madison Square Garden 1973 It THEY WILL BE ON YOUR PLAY LIST I PROMISE ,, It Starts out sloooooooow ... But the 2nd half WILL BLOW YOU A WAY ,,, You will love this MONSTER hit from the 70s
Love that movie
"soul of a woman was created below" and our girl clutched her pearls hahaha. Awesome
How did Jay ever luck into a music lover like Amber?
His adorableness may have had something to do with it. 🔥
Oh Amber Girl, you would've been a cool hippie chick if you lived back in those days
@@donnavickers6058 I think she’s one now.
No two Led Zeppelin songs are the same. Each is distinctive. And they all resonate within you!!!
Great bands have a rock anthem. Legendary bands have more than one. With Led Zeppelin every song is a rock anthem!
Yes ... Yes ... Yes... Also do the kid Rock foo fighters and Lenny Cravats covers as well
My favorite female-led hard rock band performing one of the most famous songs by my favorite male hard rock band!
@@Rebelrocker69 - I had heard that same story too. What a surprise!
Absolutely phenomenal suggestion 👌
Love it! Another reason we were in great moods back in the day! A little Zep and a bowl was all it took!!!!!😂✌❤
Nailed it !
Or a pinch of hash off a album cover.
@@donnavickers6058 oh yes!!!!!
A little Led Zep & a Bowl is all it took. 😊😁😄👍🇺🇲
I have been riding the Zeppelin for Fifty plus years. Can't say enough. Just listen. I need to chill. My Zeppelin journey is mine thank you. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
Another song from the Dazed & Confused movie you might like for Female Friday is “Cherry Bomb” by The Runaways
This song has nothing to do with the movie. Was a good movie though. I was 16 in 1976 and I love the movie. Still...has nothing to do with Zeppelin
@Julie Manarin I know….. just mentioning the movie because someone else did. The movie was named after the song.
Yaaaaasssss! Cherry Bomb!!!! Great suggestion for Female Friday! 👌👌👌👌
Yeeeeees!!!!!
Zeppelin In my time of dying is a must
The instrument was a bow from a violin on the guitar, that wa ac the different noise on guitar. The video on this song would show you that Robert Plant is the singer you should look at his solo career too, its outstanding.
Use of the cello bow on the guitar is unmatched in concept and sound
Try listening to their more mellow side like The Rain Song, Beautiful.
Tangerine is one of my favorites as well.
Gospel truth--the rain song
"Thank You", "That's the Way", "Since I Been Loving You", "All My Love", "Going to California",...I don't think the list has an end.
That's 3 and for me that was the best, cover to cover. Check out Zepparella, all female Zepplin cover band. ua-cam.com/video/R1xWo2dzTaM/v-deo.htmlsi=wPElZ17mlfLBZI7c @@thorsluter7835
‘In My Time of Dying’ is an absolute MUST LISTEN
The last word one would use to describe this song would be "anemic"...Ty guys...top notch...
Love watching this pair listening to my favourite band
The story goes Keith Moon gave them their name after hearing them he commented that they were going hit the US like a Lead Balloon. The group took the name Led Zeppelin but took the 'a' out because they figured the people in the US would pronounce it 'lead' Zeppelin not Led Zeppelin.
That's just one of three prevailing theories.
I've heard that the name was first proposed by John Entwistle, as the name of a possible band with he, Page and Keith Moon, with a singer to be named later. They were all playing together on a recording session backing Jeff Beck.
Their entire debut album was fire. My favorite.
I was thinking the same thing.
LZ IV is the best lets be real
One thing I love about Led Zepplin is none of the songs sound the same and they way they move in and out of transitions so damn smoothly. ✌❤🤘
At 5:32 I was like wait to you guys hear what's coming....lol...Freaking Greatness
Rock on with your Bad Selves
73 years old now saw them in concert 3x’s late 60’s early 70’s. Second time was on front row in front of monster speakers. Ears are still ringing , When Page went after his guitar with violin or bass bow. The sound and tracers were unreal. I was riding on Ousley ☠️ unreal.
Dazed and Confused is a great movie. One of the first Matthew McConaughey roles.
The origin of "Alright Alright Alright"
But the song definitely came first
Yes great movie...nothing to do with the song
G.O.A.T.
All 4 members are equally talented.
Dude, I had it so loud you blew my eardrums pausing during solo!
Lol.....Me tooo!!!!!!
The stars were aligned when LZ came into this world! Geniuses. One of their best songs IMO. Loved your reactions! 👍
Check out all of Led Zeppelin....here's some : Kashmir - Over the Hills and Far Away - Rock n Roll - Whole lotta Love - Stairway to Heaven - The Ocean - Immigrant Song - When the Levee Breaks - Black Dog - All of my Love - Ramble on - (For a different Island feel check out - D'yer Maker)
Im 68 and I still feel it all when I listen to it. It never gets old.
PLEASE DO NO QUARTER BY LED ZEPPELIN ITS ONE OF THEIR BEST
Since I've been loving you, my all time favorite by Led Zeppelin, though you can't go wrong with any song
This band has 9 albums and not one bad song they rock greatest band all time
I'm 67 & didn't get a chance to see them until the Plant/Page tour. I wish I would've seen them way back then. Such great music we had back then. I still have all the vinyl & because vinyl is coming back, I got a new record player to listen to them all. Great memories! Thanks for the great reaction to my generation music. The best ever made. Watch a video of Zeppelin's Moby Dick or When the Levee Breaks so you can see John Bonham on the drums. The man can play! Robert Plant is singing.
Listen to a song called ..
No Quarter ..the live version from the album "the song remains the same"
Jimmy Page is playing the electric guitar with a Violin Bow it's AMAZING WATCH THE LIVE VERSION. That's the unusual sound you were trying to figure out......
I think you’d really like In my Time of Dying, Black Dog, The Lemon Song if you like the bluesy sound. 40 years after first hearing it, In my Time of Dying still makes me think I cannot believe for British dudes are playing the blues like this!!!!!🔥🔥🔥
I don’t think they could handle the Lemon Song.
Wazzap guys with LedZep --- nice reaction video guys, thank you. thumbs up and keep it up.
John Bonham gallops all over this best drummer ever
no no no Neil Peart always #1 and I would say Mike Portney is #2

"Call & Response" talking back and forth with the guitar[or whatever], always great...
I’ve been a fan of Led Zeppelin since 1971. Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are my main groups.
The lead singer for Led Zeppelin is Robert Plant. He’s still singing and sounds just as good!!! I’ve always loved his hair! Beautiful mane! ❤️
