Also hajime no ippo is a masterpiece. Unfortunately the studio stop making it but the manga is still on going. Its like 1400+ chapters but the chapters are like 10-15 pages compared to the usual 50-60 lol. Its AMAZINGG the humor is great, the action is fantastic and the characters are so goooood, Last but not least, The hype is, dare i say, Even more than haikyuu.
Underhand serves are usually for beginners because it's the easiest serve. In this episode, they used it differently because of the venue. Due to the high ceiling, it takes time to land so it messes their timing and the venue has very bright lights in the ceiling so they can't look at the ball without being partially blinded. Overhand serves are still better though because you can add more power and accuracy.
it's high school volleyball. most of them were beginners. the awesome thing about haikyuu is how close to reality it is. furudate has put so much thought about everything is so great. he didn't made them character over powered except kageyama.
Underhand serves are sometimes used as a surprise attack even in pro level volleyball, but I believe it's mostly for beach volleyball, where the sun can make it really hard to keep your eyes on the ball
Well this specific underhand serve is actually more of advanced beach volleyball serve. Where there is no ceiling and the position of the sun could be your ally.
20:14 Truth is: when you're a kid, everyone learns to underhand serve first. But it's just suppose to go over the net to put the ball into play. Himekawa's serve even tho is underhand, it's a special one created by a brazilian player Bernard. "Jornada nas estrelas" which literally translate as "Journey in the stars" which is what this serve looks like. Fun fact: if you put on Google translate "Jornada Nas Estrelas" from portuguese to english it will translate to "Star Trek"
22:34 "He is not the ace of the MVP segment" Why you gotta do him dirty like that? 😭 EDIT: I really love Suga pointing Tanaka where to spike ( 14:44 ) with Kags appreciating his set after. Suga will come off bench and make instant impact like a starter would.
Additional info/trivia for the underhand serve: It's more popular in beach vball than indoor vball because of the added factors of wind and blinding sun. It's as weird as a float serve.
YESSS!!! Asahi definitely deserves the MVP in this episode!! He's my favorite ace!! I enjoyed how excited you guys got when he delivered the final point. 13:13 was so cute!
Haikyuu is the best sports anime/manga out there. The way they bring out the emotion in just the first match, which the audiences know for sure that they are going to win. It's not just about winning. It's about growth, keep moving forward in the toughest time, the team work, even you are on the bench. Seeing 3 years of rough journey and hard work the 3rd year had gone through just makes the first match so wholesome.
The third years were really great during this match, and the overall episode is definitely centered around their growth and how capable and dependable they are so I have to agree about one of them being MVP!
The power overhand serves always get the attention... but I speak from experience. A great underhand serve can be even more deadly. This is why I love Himekawa. I got SO many service aces from underhand serves in my career as a volleyball player.... they are seriously underrated.
Omg you guys are so sweet~ Ange thinking off Asahi would get hurt by Carlie's casual comment that he is not the MVP of MVPs and Carlie immediately taking back her words! XD🥰
That underhand serve always brings me right back to high school badminton. My pairs partner's specialty was a really high float shot that was hard to track because of ceiling lights and just all the time it takes to comes down, the sudden change of pace during intense rallies really threw our opponents off.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS EPISODE 😭😭 I really love how the third years are portrayed because they are such a solid fountation of the team. They were the ones who experienced Karasuno's lowest point since they were first year but they never gave up and here they are 😭😭 I absolute love the line "Opportunities present themselves to those who have prepared" with Asahi smashing the ball and ending the game to a win 😭❤
Hi, @carlieAndAnge guys love your reactions 😍 and I always wait for your reaction videos everyday because after coming from the office I look forward to your reactions because it gives me happiness and peace of mind from very tough day 😇. Best wishes for India 😇
The serve performed by the opposing team's pinch server does indeed exist. It is called the "Star Trek" serve (or "Jornada nas Estrelas" in Portuguese) and was created by the Brazilian player Bernard in the 1980s. It is no longer used in modern volleyball. 11:18
an overhand serve is essentially a spike. its always gonna be better for speed, power, accuracy and the intimidation factor than some ceiling ball shenanigans
i love when haikyuu reactors, always end up looking like theyre just reacting to actual volleyball matches instead of just regular anime 😂😂 haikyuu so fun🎉
I really, REALLY just love your reaction guys. I get so happy when I see you guys upload. To be honest I make the videos pile up so I can binge your reactions, Really thank you for this. It might soung a little dumb, but Haikyuu Lifted me up when I was down and it's very close to me, and watching your reactions gives me the same feeling. So I thank you for that Carlie and Ange.💌
here in bulgaria we call theese sun serve cuz you use it to use the sun when you are outside or the ceiling lights inside to blind the receivers and that is really good point to the serve in previous gymnasiums they played the ceiling was lower and the lights are not that bright so yeah that is why it wasnt used
Something I think is notable: even though Karasuno beat Tsubakihara in straight sets, both were close. There are no weak teams in the nationals. Also it's absolutely brutal that this was Himekawa's first official match. But his serve would hit the ceiling in smaller venues so it couldn't be helped. Kudos on the team for still recognizing his potential.
Haikyuu is so good with not making an enemy of the other team and just presenting them as an opponent. I love how it's practically impossible to hate any characters in this show, I think the only one I genuinely dislike is Shiratorizawa's coach. It's crazy how even when a team is playing against Karasuno, you'll still sometimes find yourself rooting for them. Maybe not to win the whole game, but I think I often start rooting for the other team to just get that one point they're struggling so hard for, or to take just one set from Karasuno even if they end up losing at the end lol. Here too, I was totally rooting for Himekawa to get that ceiling serve and I was genuinely happy when he managed it on the second try, even if it's a problem for Karasuno. And I do totally cry at the other teams' loss after Karasuno wins, even when I'm also super happy for Karasuno at the same time. The writing is just so good in this show...
My friend met with an accident today and he is serious rn I was really going through a lot and needed something to make me happy and your video notifications popped up I got a smile on my face it was like a relief like everything is gonna be fine was really happy after seeing your reaction and for past 4 years I’m watching haikyu continuously like on repeat and you reacting to it makes me really (I don’t have words) but happy thank you so much 😮💨💕 always supporting your channel love your reactions.
So regarding Underhand vs Overhand - Underhand serve is basically impossible to aim, since you go in an arc, you can place it easily within the court but forget about any real accuracy - no player targeting or spot targeting. Its the basic serve that you normally start with (Unless you are weird like me and start with jump serve xD). The value of underhand serve in this situation is the usage of lighting (this venue has pretty trash ceiling lights that dazzle) and weird momentum (since this is such an unusual serve it speeds up in a weird way going down which makes the timing unexpected) - combining the two, it works well in this setting. Normally you use this in outdoors volleyball, especially beach volleyball since the sun is extremely dazzling and wind can make it move in weird ways like a floater would (it can also carry it outside the playing field to be fair but thats a risk to live with) - it is also more effective in beach volleyball since the footing is uneven and looking up like this you have a much higher chance of tripping yourself as you don't see where you are stepping.
Keep in mind, a lot of what Kageyama is doing is just doing what setters are supposed to do. We know he's good but because he's the setter and always touching the ball it's easy to give him more credit than the other players. He did great this episode but nothing exceptional.
No disrespect to the other teams but one of the greatest matches in Haikyuu!! is about to start now. I have been keeping quiet since the start of Season 4 so as to not spoil anything for anyone. You'll see a lot more of me from the next episode onwards. The coming match is absolutely gonna blow your mind into shatters. If you liked the " concrete ", you are gonna love the " Kakashi Sharingan Setter " ( Naruto spoiler - for those who don't know, Kakashi is a Ninja in Naruto who has the " Sharingan" or the copy wheel eye which allows him to copy anyone's ability one-to-one and better it if he has the potential to better it ) as I like to call him. Let's go and witness the peak of fiction together!❣️
Skyballs are so annoying lmao. With some players I've played against I would rather receive a jump spike or even float than their skyball, especially if it has curve to it (most annoying in beach volleyball).
no idea why people are such losers and cant just watch/comment without leaving a spoiler. its a reaction channel. if you want to spoil do it on the main subreddit or the main haikyuu channel/vidoe of the moment
