I just realised that tteobokki is basically like our Italian "Gnocchi", chewy but made with another flour. I just made this and it tastes so good, it's so nice and chewy

If you wanna add some kind of protein, instead of the fish cake you can add sausage. But most people don't even cook the food, we just come for nino so I'm useless😩

If you don't have rice flour then follow these steps :- 1) Take rice and brake it. And soak over 7-8 hours in water.⏲️ 2) Then scatter rice on dry cloth over 1 hour in air 3) When rice is dry then grind it. Rice flour is done....

Tteokbokki is one of the foods my mother would make when there was nothing else that she felt like making for dinner. So seeing a recipe for it being made on UA-cam is sort of nostalgic.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone cook tteokbokki like this before. Reminds me of how Boba is made, except with rice flour instead. I'll have to try this~
I just tried the recipe today... the sauce definitely came out on the sweeter side, so i added more soy sauce. But i wasnt getting the salty kick I wanted so I straight up added salt. This recipes call for it to be sweet, but I like mine sweet and savoury. I'd recommend you boiling the sauce till it's almost to the consistency you want it to be with your meat + vegetables, and add the rice cakes after to prevent it from overcooking and losing its 'springiness' (it's still going to be chewy, but not springy). then cook that for a few mins.

I just made this (didn’t have fish cake, so just added more boiled eggs) but it was delicious! The flavour is so bold that I still have to get used to it, but it was fun making the rice cake from scratch and I will definitely try out more rice cake recipes

Gnocchi is different because it didn't need much ingredients like tteobokki need. There shape is also very different.
