Wow Ben, that room looks a museum! Two deductions come to mind: 1. you shop in flea markets and antique stores. 2. You don't have kids yet or they're not allowed in the basement! Reminds me of a house we visited when we were looking to buy in the early 90's. We came across this peculiar home built in 1961 which had never been renovated. All the furniture dated from that era and yet, were in great condition. I instantly fell in love with it but how would I put it? My tender half did not quite share my enthusiasm... P.S. I got to quote her what Velvet Joe says about women being "as old as they look"! ;)
Bonapiper True and true! And even though this house was built in 1916, I don't think my wife would have gone for it if it was all still un-changed from days gone by. The kitchen and bathrooms are comfortably modern, so she's happy! Joe is a wise old fella! Thank you my friend and all the best!

Absolutely beautiful. Do you store so much Velvet, for the sake of aging it to a perfect taste? I don't think I've ever done anything like that. I did have some Orlik once. I made some covers from grocery bags, the brown paper ones, you know. It was their job to soak up the moisture. It was a good tobacco, once I got it to burn, but, I preferred Uncle Doyle's PA much better. It came in a tin and was wrapped in a wax sort of paper. My only regret was not having saved enough of the wrappers and ordering one of their pipes. I loved those pipe ads.

Sgt. Savinelli As an Irishman, I'm more partial to the Bing myself, but I love the old organ pop tunes, they got with twinkling lights and pipe tobacco VERY WELL! There is a wonderful pizza place called The Organ Piper here in Wisconsin. I spent many birthdays there growing up and organ music, antique decorations and twinkly lights always take me back there. They used to feature tons of animatronic knick-knacks and critters wired to the organ and vintage circus memorabilia, that would light up, whistle, and move when the organist felt inclined to add even more excitement to the Mighty Wurlitzer!

Very nice! Do you have many people drop by to hangout? I’m sure that would be the spot if you have any fellow pipe smokers near by. Do you notice a difference between fresh Velvet and a tub that be in the cabinets for a year or two???
Had a few pipe smoking pilgrims drop by! Always happy give them a place to set and fill from the tobacco jar! Like any topped blend, Velvet will dissipate some of its flavor the longer it is left open, and may dry slightly, but I find the difference is minimal in a tub with a closed lid. But I should admit I've never had one open for quite that long. 😉 I go through a tub a lot more quickly than that.
Padre Piper It sure does! And I have a setup to convert the UHF and VHF connections to a DVD player, all the better to enjoy the Honeymooners, Red Skelton, and Ray Anthony! Even better, I ordered a wireless dongle-thingy that will allow me to stream youtube videos directly to the ol' RCA wonderbox! And thank you Padre, always glad to see you stop in my friend!
Padre Piper Oh yeah, she is the greatest! We specifically added a basement room to our list of must-haves when we were house shopping, so I could have a dusty old man cave! She spoils me something terrible! (But she has her own special room on the second floor too, so it's okay!)

Lol... I store that Velvet because I smoke 6-8 bowls a day and save on shipping and hassle when I order enough for the year!

Do you notice a difference between fresh Velvet and a tub that be in the cabinets for a year or two???
Had a few pipe smoking pilgrims drop by! Always happy give them a place to set and fill from the tobacco jar!
Like any topped blend, Velvet will dissipate some of its flavor the longer it is left open, and may dry slightly, but I find the difference is minimal in a tub with a closed lid.
But I should admit I've never had one open for quite that long. 😉 I go through a tub a lot more quickly than that.

Padre Piper It sure does! And I have a setup to convert the UHF and VHF connections to a DVD player, all the better to enjoy the Honeymooners, Red Skelton, and Ray Anthony! Even better, I ordered a wireless dongle-thingy that will allow me to stream youtube videos directly to the ol' RCA wonderbox!

None of the music services seems to have it in mp3 form, which isn't surprising. But all the better for having the LP, since I recently purchased an old console stereo with turntable.
