behind the Idler there a 3/4 pipe plug with square head on top of the tensioner under that plug is grease cert remove grease cert put a 4x4 between blade and idler and angle back toward idler and push the grease out. The Dozer Dude Oklahoma.
Glad you found the starter button, I told you it was between your knees. You have to get the track started over the rear sprocket first. After you have a few sprocket teeth gripping the track, put the track in reverse until all of the sprocket is in place. Once it is on the sprocket drive backwards over one of those big wooden blocks, the bigger the block the better. The weight of the machine on the block will hold the track in line with the bottom rollers. As you back up more bottom roller will start to line the track up with the front idler. Keep backing until the track goes in place over the front idler. Hope this helps. Robin in WV.
I’m glad to see you two I seen Hank has the classic channel now but it should only have one video and that’s the John deer 310 !!!!!! You two are so much better together but apart it’s awful serious !!!
In this position i used kinda reverse psychology on steel tracks as a went over and between few stumps caught debris and pushed track inside so i used branches etc working up to smallish kinda 10" 15" log jammed it into track and drive spocket creating a (""frictionable surface "" ) ↩️ (word of the day "" frictionable 😂) and steered it on drive sprocket first then leveraged front over idler as you did with blade and chain but excellent job and valiant effort guy's as always👌
It was good to see Hank helping on one of your projects. You did well to get it started after the water sitting in the engine. Keep the videos coming I appreciate all the effort you put into them.
Put a block behind the blade, loosen the tightened cylinder, pull the blade backward which will back the front drive wheel back more. I use a come a long to hook the track on put it on the dozer housing. Crank the come a long up put front track on.
Put the check behind it get it up in the air you've got to spin the track while you put it on and there's a square knot up by The idler that you have to take off your grease fitting is in there you pull that and you'll be able to take the grease fitting off and it'll release the tension and then you can spin the track 2 release and then it should slide right on you can take the truck right back up and you'll be good to go. The grease fitting square cap over it.
the square head cap right behind idler is where the grease zert is to adjust tracks, should be able to remove it to colapse idler, enjoy your videos be safe
That was a very wet engine. Brilliant! That was a fast cold start. It looks like that there is a heater element on the air intake, for cold days. Nice running engine.
Can't believe the knowledge you have about the stuff you pick up in field.i saw lot people around in canada but you guys is top my list.all iron left and move this is cool for people educate about machine Thank you video
I'm sorry but Hamiltonville Farms ain't got nothin' on Don'tbeWily. I enjoy Wily's get to it type attitude. I don't need all the jokes and silliness. Wily is on the serious level!

the grease plug for track tensioner under the square headed plug right behind the idler thumbs up i used to run one just like it had tilt jack only diffrence
🎉 as always thank you for the video guys...🎉 That Andrew guy would have had that done with his bare hands...😂😂 LoL LoL...🎉 thanks 🙏👍... JJ.. Jonjon...😊😊
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. You got that one running good Wiley and hank. Amazing the amount of water that came out. That machine runs nice yet. With some talc would be ok for someone. Nice work guys. Good job. Thanks The Iowa Farm Boy.
I've got the same exact machine sitting here at my place over by the space coast. I parked it when the 08 crash hit, and I had to shut my little construction business down. I don't think mine will be as easy to start as this one was, but I put a new bottom on it just a couple hundred hours before I last parked it, so at least I don't have to worry about the tracks coming off. Like the other folks had said, I would focus on the drive sprocket first. If you can catch a few teeth, it'll pull the track back on, and that'll help a lot to walk it over the Idler.
The case dozers have a master disconnect at the front of the seat the start button is factory on the instrument panel.if the start button is between the levers it's a older model 450
Great job on getting it running. 👍 im sure if those bolts hadn't been rusted up, it probably would have been easier to get the track on. Ya'll gave it a good effort! 👍 Thanks for sharing, Wily!
Hey Wily! Great episode again Sir! I always enjoy watching you and Hank working on the farm and Construction Equipment. Me and Daddy used to work on Construction Equipment together and I miss those days very much with him. My Daddy was a mechanic for Brandeis Machinery here in Kentucky and I followed him in that career and even on the weekends we would work on different dozers and front in loaders together, Engine, Steering Clutch, other hydraulic and tracks were part of the things we would tackle. Try getting the track on the sprocket first and like the other guy in the comments said with the blocks and putting it in reverse it could walk the track onto it. God Bless you and Hank along with your Families. Maybe someday when I visit Florida I could meet you both😂
Worked for a company that had a case 850d and everyone hated it ! I unfortunately grew up around one and made the mistake of doing a decent job on it so i got stuck on it everytime after that lol . Once you find the hidden start button and get used to the high/low track speed steering its not a horrible setup 😂 ill say one thing about it is that sun of a gun started mo matter how cold it was or how long it had sat
Ok note to self ,,, post industrial battery nuts fit right on strarter post, lol good job thanks BigAl California.I’m looking for a all wheel drive inexpensive 7000 pound to 10.000 pound cap fork lift, lol thanks.
Don't know where Thay come up with the injection pump going bad that case188 engine is the best engine case ever had Thay never gave any trouble my dad is a licensed mechanic from case
Should have hooked to the top of the roll cage and pulled it up on one side with those trucks and put that track on ! I think that dozer is gonna be at Hamiltonville farm in no time !
Do you think you could rig a snach block from the blade to the back of the dozer and back to the pully on the track and use the hydrolics on the blade to pull the pully back?
Hank that was painfully to watch ya'll try that track lol . look right behind that front idealer take out the pipe plug cap , remove the grease fitting then push idealer back in , after that the track will fit right on. (install back sprocket first) after track is on put grease fitting back in and pump grease in leaving about 1" slag in track
I have a case 450 myself. Also, just replaced starter last week. After pulling the starter on and off a couple times, I found it easier to remove the engine oil filter. To get the bolt on Feb bottom of starter. You can reach on there and start the bolt by hand, then use a long extension to tighten. A factory style starter like that one is 450 for a reman one. I opted to go with a gear reduction starter. $290 new. Working good so far.
Not wanting to be a arm chair quarterback, but could have hooked a chain to the track right in front of the rear sprocket and pulled out and reversed the right track to get it on.
Those tracks can be stubborn on the 450 I had a friend who had a 450 and the track on the left side would come off every now and then he rebuilt the adjusters on both sides and after time the left one would still walk off

You guys need a Porta-Power. Put the spreader between the side panel and the track. Beats getting your fingers crushed.
The plug is right behind the take-up idler you take that plug out under it there will be a grease fitting take its out
Video is out on that now
Sad to say but you'll never get track on till the idler is compressed. It runs well though.
Maybe attach the chain to both edges of that track and then lift with another tractor?
Don't know where Thay come up with the injection pump going bad that case188 engine is the best engine case ever had Thay never gave any trouble my dad is a licensed mechanic from case
The pain working on the track reminds me of the Cat you were trying to remove the injectors - very painful.

Lol on the pain. I feel your pain
Great channel, i love it
Should have hooked to the top of the roll cage and pulled it up on one side with those trucks and put that track on ! I think that dozer is gonna be at Hamiltonville farm in no time !
Just keep “Less Hanking and more cranking!” a thing please! 😂
Don’t worry you’ll sell it with the track off besides the sprocket is worn out anyway so it’s all good.
Do you think you could rig a snach block from the blade to the back of the dozer and back to the pully on the track and use the hydrolics on the blade to pull the pully back?

Another way is to spilt the track at its connector all unwed is a come along
Thanks. Love your channel
Definitely need to pull the idler back and get that track off the ground to be able to get it back on track lol
