If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbitl in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

I remember starting a print-media business in '08 when they said print was dead, that I was unrealistic, blah blah blah. I have my own rule: Learn to take hate, analyse it logically and rationally, filter out all the abuse/nonsense, figure out if there's something being communicated that you need to learn from and better yourself, learn it if there is and move on with your life a better person.
Don't ever let abusive words hide a truth you need to hear.
Don't ever let nonsense get to your head or heart either.
I needed this. I’ve been a content creator working for myself full time since 2019. It’s been a struggle since, 2020 with haters, especially ones turning friends and mentors against me.
I am currently going on an Alex Homorzi content binge. Studying each of his videos and taking notes and applying action after each video. He truly is amazing and brilliant. I already have both books and have read them over and over. Great content!

I love how methodical and scientific you are and that you create standard operating procedures or frameworks for yourself. We can't always re-analyze *everything* constantly, so by creating these patterns that we can replay we know that we can rapidly execute on autopilot in ways that are generally highly effective while our focus is on a new unsolved challenge. I love quality editing, but I am here for your content, the editing should just compliment that instead of draw my attention. Dude I needed this a lot. I got a massive hate wave recently and the crap and lies people were saying were horrid. I came out on the other side fine but this will help for next time cause I won’t engage and discredit them anymore I’ll just ignore and get bigger.

We're completely not even in the same landmass when it comes to entrepreneurship, but I just wanted to share the same type of feeling for any small-time creator such as myself.
I've been labelled a communist or traitor to the U.S. through my other creative project that just focuses on international embassy and cultural events in the DC area, lol. The irony is that the haters get value from which events they see on my newsletter.
The moral of the story is this: you don't have to be as big as Hormozi to get haters, as soon as you see some degree of success, you will get haters.
great video, sounds like a solid strategy. my question would be how do you evolve then if you ignore all criticism? or is that what you mean by "if it's true, lean into it." The problem however is, how do you know if it's true? Do you have a rule to only take feedback from people you trust in your private life? or how do you evolve and change your ways ?
