If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbitl in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

My background is a bit unique-I come from a family that's not particularly well-off, but I'm fortunate to be a scholarship student who commutes daily from home to school. During high school, I saved up to buy a car, which I now use for Uber as I pursue my college education. Needs to be shown to high schoolers. It'll help them really consider their path. Too many people make it black and white with "College is great" and "college is a scam."

Engineering student here. Took loans out for my first year but quickly dropped out because I decided it wasn't worth it. I used experience from working on cars to land an entry level technician job at an aerospace MRO company, and now they're paying for my engineering degree while I work for them. It takes longer, and it's a hell of a lot harder, but I'll have no debt, a bachelor's engineeing degree, and I'll already be working for a company that will hire me as an engineer.

I got a 4yr degree in 2005 and left with about $15k in debt. It was worth it. If you can get a education without going into crazy debt do it.

@@joshua7885That is my point, if it worth it to you. I had friends that took out $15k a semester. I went to school with grants and scholarships along with federal loan. Estimate to go to my school was about $40k a year. If a kid belongs at a university there is money out there, go find those scholarships and grants.
Here in Denmark, we get paid 1k USD every month for a degree LOL We even get access to an INSANLY good loan if we "need" money, like it's basically 2% interest.
Here in Mexico I paid 360 usd for 5 years of computer engineering degree, now I work on Amazon. It was definitely worth it

A bachelors degree doesn't have to cost 250K. 2 years at a community college and then transferring to a state school could only cost 50K
It's not the degree that's the problem, it's what the degree is for as well. Any debt you incur from school for a bachelor may not be worth it with most jobs.

As a 20 year old who didn’t go to college and is running a home seevice business let me just say this: it’s hard. Going to college gives you structure, routine, and networking as well as the ability to build these skills exponentially. When you’re on your own, you’re on your own. I’m glad I haven’t gone to college (yet) but I do feel like I’m missing out on the networking aspect with people my age. In day to day I’m dealing with people at least twice my age, and while I’m grateful for that and I’m learning so much, I have little likeminded peers. But again, networking can also be done elsewhere. Hope this helps someone!

If this is something you lack, why don't you go to university and work at your business from there? I have no idea what it may look like. Seems like you have a lot of sales calls. That would be understandable.
Congrats... Join a club also get into sport hobbies to meet people and you can still stay focused and do it alone and socializaw at times .

The best EDUCATION I've ever received came from my upbringing in a single mother household, navigating through some extremely tough times. My mother and my circumstances imparted invaluable lessons that have shaped me. It showed me not just what to do, but also what pitfalls to avoid, instilling in me a resilience and determination to overcome any obstacle. At age 10, I was out selling homemade jewelry door to door. My twin and I sold a lot of bracelets. We decided to attempt to change business directions at age 11 and clean houses. My mom put a quick stop to that because we didn’t live in the safest area. Education comes in many different forms. Cheers to much success everyone!

I went to LSE for my Bachelors and UCL for my masters (top UK unis) and I started a clothing brand straight out of uni two years ago. I was able to apply maybe 2% of what I learnt (I studied business).
But the content Alex releases and his books I’ve been able to apply over 60% of it, and the parts I haven’t I just haven’t gotten to it yet.
I also was able to apply more from what I learnt from UA-cam such as adobe photoshop and illustrator skills, Shopify, fb ads, google ads, influencer marketing, editing on CapCut for TikTok’s, importing fabric, working with manufacturers, selling on Amazon, UI/UX design for Shopify etc. my uni didn’t teach me anything except for accounting that I was able to apply… Even a 100 dollar drop shipping course I paid 5 years ago taught me more about business than uni. However I will add that because I was raised in dubai for me personally I don’t regret going to uni abroad as dubai is in a bubble and I benefited from building who I am as a person and I needed more outside perspective of the rest of the world.

I’ve read Dan Kennedy’s books on Sales/marketing (eg ultimate sales letter). Thanks again! In fact, only when I consumed Alex’s content did I realize I was spending my time wrong - I should’ve done one product, one avatar, one channel. I didn’t do that I did all channels - I mean at least I have some experience with all and now know what to focus on.

As someone with a bachelors and masters degree and the debt to prove it, I wholeheartedly agree with everything Alex says in this video. I've been out of college for 20 years and I have seen the shift in the value of formal education. I'll send stuff like to my college educated (especially who work in education) friends just to be petty and poke fun...lol! In all seriousness, there needs to be a reevaluation of what it means to go to college.
Sometimes you need to make the mistake to learn. I also have a bachelors degree 🤷♂

Dropped out at 16. My gf at the time talked me into getting my ged at 18. Entered automotive sales at 21, entered management at 24 and have made 6 figures and as high as 250k/ yr the past 8 years.

I’m 18 and I feel like college is holding me back, I’m doing great it’s just I feel like it’s highschool, useless stuff and only like 1% that’s actually useful somewhat. I feel like the world is a lie because when I was younger I thought colleges just teach specialties and not the same yada yada school does.

Race and zip code go hand in hand. Race only really matters because of racially homogeneous populations that historically congregated in certain areas. The same could be said for affirmative action (race based admission) in that socioeconomic factors are better signifiers for benefits programs. In Alex’s case, the focus on race is mostly the fault of the studies he sites. In turn, poorer White and Asian people get mixed signals when he argues that “they get less benefit from a bachelors degree,” which is very income dependent. However, he corrects this with his thoughts on zip codes and first-in-family college graduates. I just wish he would explain the studies or theories behind the stats a little further.
That’s me right now I’ve watched Alex hormozi for almost 6 months now.
I’m 17 and I started 3 buisnesses since I was 15.
And I’ve generated a 5 commercial pressure washing contracts with gas stations, then I install Christmas lights during Christmas and I own a window tint buisness.
The pressure washing I don’t manage barely it’s like clock work.
But everything else I manage and I make pretty good money and I’m paying all my parents debt and my own debt.
My dad wants me to go to college but my other sibilings already went and I didn’t see a big improvement I was told it was going to do in their life.

same lowkey wasn't considering college at all but I don't wanna be isolated, so I'm gonna enroll as like a part time student only to network and play sports, but mainly I'm gonna focus on my business, sport, and connecting with people. With these new ai tools cheating would be so easy.
If you don’t have a solid plan then go to college. It gives you a few years to decide on your path, allows for some structure in your life, and you get a lot of added benefits. You could also do community college for 2 years and transfer to an instate college to save a ton of money. College is almost always the most worthwhile option.

I want to be a software engineer for a few years then start my own thing whether thats a startup or just something else tech related. all I know is that I want the big bucks. Thank you for putting this video out! Young people really need to watch this. I went the college route (was the first in my family to get a bachelor degree) and have been in the engineering profession for 17 years now and am a top performer at the company I work for. If I hadn't gone to college, I wouldn't be in the field that I am simply because the field I work in requires a college degree. That said, I would probably be just as successful, possibly more so if I hadn't gone to college and chose a different path, just because of who I am as a person. With the current environment depending on what path my daughter wants to go down, I'm hard pressed to recommend her go to college. Like you said with the cost of college these days more and more fields of study aren't worth the college expense, plus she can take advantage of the network I have developed to help kick start a career in just about any field she might want. As for the financial side of things, one way to reduce the cost of college (which is something I did) is go to a local community college for the first couple of years. This will save on tuition, housing, etc. Also since you mentioned college debt cannot be discharged in bankruptcy, if you incurred that debt on starting a business or what have you, that debt can be discharged or at least restructured through bankruptcy.

My wife went to a major 4 year private university right out of highschool. Has 100k in debt with a bachelor's degree she doesn't use. And is now making way more money in business than she would have in her degree field.
If I was 18 I would look for a mentor and take a couple years to make the decision to go to college before just diving in. Too many kids going to school for the wrong reasons.

Something about college that people seem to be forgetting is the learning itself. I’m studying chemistry and the classes I’ve taken have made me notice new things about the world around me, and given me an appreciation for learning. Honestly, in the past I could have learned all this stuff from textbooks that I pirated online for free, but I wouldn’t have, because without these classes I wouldn’t have felt the drive that I feel now to keep learning. Also, the kind of job I want to do in the future depends on going to college, and the networking and research opportunities at my college are extremely important for standing out. (I want to go into lab work.) There’s no real answer for if college is worth it or not, it depends on what you want to do in your life. Your success regardless of your education depends on your resourcefulness, intelligence, maturity, and lastly, a s**t ton of luck

I went to college for business and my professor said “class, you better not be in business so you can make $100,000 a year. Because most of you won’t”.
I dropped out the next day and invested into a business and made $100,000 that year. Lesson…. The school of self learn for business exceeds learning from a professor who doesn’t even own a business.

Yeah, I know you’re lying because you’re not explaining what business you have not even telling us how you did it, for me I went into e-commerce, and making 2K a month paying for ads and learning how to find a good product people do it all the time on Amazon or Etsy just making your own type of products like flipping furniture is a good business model. My advice to everyone is this : if you want to grow big this year especially in your finances.
Be willing to take risks. Saving is great but taking risks puts you on a pedestal where you wouldnt have to worry about savings as you do now. Thanks to Chris Haun my portolio is doing really great and im proud of the decisions i made last year.
I feel one Of the greatest challenges that we first timers face in the ma rket is that we end up losing all we have,making it difficult to find ourselves back to our feet. My biggest advice is to always seek the services of a professional just like I did when I ventured into it for the first time. Big thanks to Chris Haun. I now make huge profits by weekly through his services while still learning to stand on my own.
