If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbitl in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex

YES.
It's a green screen
@@poika22 feels more like a white wall with aputure novas or sth
@@JonasBecker It does look like it's a white wall with aputure novas. The only reason I DO believe it's a green screen is because of his hands when he's waving them around. Look close and you see some green between his fingers. It looks KILLER either way and especially killer for a green screen.
Agree
It's admirable how you've turned substantial losses into valuable learning experiences for others.
My heart hurt learning you went through that… you’re the reason why I will succeed in life. Just know that you are appreciated so much Alex!!
YOU are the reason why you will succeed in life.
It's nice to hear about some of your failures (Not that I wish them upon you), but it's cool to see the "human" side of you,. Shows us know that having failures is totally normal and to just keep going.
Incredible video!!! Better than any MBA course I've sat through. So many great points.
It's so entertaining Alex. It's like you are reliving it all over again. Thanks for the 10/10 content!
Thank you, and Leila, so much for your mission.
Thanks for sharing this. Have had some of these things happen to me. Needed this.
Thank you for sharing your valuable experience. Your insights are truly appreciated. Keep up the great work,Alex!
Alex this was your best youtube video ever and I 150% understand where you are coming from but all those mistakes have made you the person and business person you are today.
1000% respect
Many Thanks

This has been one of my favorite AH vids so far...it's truly refreshing to see that smart ppl, REALLY smart and motivated ppl, make some really dumb mistakes and lose a TON of money.
Amazing video.. thanks for sharing Alex! Big fan!!
Absolutely amazing content. Thanks Alex and team.
Alex, thank you for making these videos and really spending time on it.
This entire video made it feel like I had a mentor speaking to me personally on what not to do.
Great video Alex, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, like Jim Rhon said if only failures would give seminars
Love this dude. I appreciate the raw honesty and all the emotions. It feels like a therapy session for you
Thanks for sharing this most people won't.
Making the decision to push or pivot is hard to make.
Thanks this really helped me out.
Alex, can’t wait to see you in May at the workshop 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for sharing your valuable lessons learned. We need more of this in business.
Amazing video and lessons shared ❤ 🙏
Thank you Alex! This is better than many business courses in university.
So many amazing takeaways in this, absolutely crushed it!!
The green screen color change was cool and felt more high production, but it happened too often so it started to get disorienting.
Edit: Another great video!! Keep up the amazing work!!
I have the absolute opposite feeling though
40:23 "lets make a green screen look green"
I didn't notice that
Thank you Alex, this was amazing, I have to rewatch this a couple times for sure ✊🏽
Honestly, this is one of your best videos. Thank you.
ALAN was another example of centering in a field you didn't have competence in. There are many, many stories of outsourced software firms failing to deliver on time and budget, and it's very easy to underestimate maintenance costs (which classically are 80% of overall software development expenses). I think you learned the right lessons from it, though.
Love that you practice what you preach. Haven't even watched the video yet, but I saw at least 4 different thumbnails for this already
Losing $100 million must have been a tough experience. I'm interested to hear about the lessons you've gained from such a significant setback. Your insights could provide valuable wisdom for navigating challenges and bouncing back from adversity.
This is pure value...thank you so much for everything you do!!! 🔥
Thank you for sharing! Mega valuable
This is really good content. I would say actually getting people to click is the challenge with Alex's content. Nonetheless, great value as always.
Wow!!! What an eye opening video this is!!! Great value Alex!!! Thank you so much!!!
Back with the whiteboard !! Love IT !!
Priceless information --- thanks Alex
Bingo! Well done, Alex and team. Tons of knowledge and experience in this video. I've made several of the same mistakes. Many thanks from all of us!
Thank you a lot for all the ideas you share! I've started creating content because of you and I believe it's just the beginning
Thank you Alex for sharing I was robbed too and it was a very significant amount of my income, and it made me feel so stupid, glad to see a man who’s almost as clumsy as I am do amazing in Life and learn that some people are just not trustworthy.
You always teach us amazing stuff, Alex. Any chance you make some content about business in software development? 💻 thanks!
Some of the things his employees and partners did should be illegal
That partnerships section, especially the bad partnerships one was an incredible story.
Amazing value as always! I feel like this video hints a lot at what the Money Models book is going to feel like!

Alex, this is terrific information, thank you! Hey, how did you do that funky cool light change? If you could share that would be super. Thanks!
Alex, I’m getting angrier just watching this because this resonates so much. Thanks for making this video, every serious entrepreneur appreciates it.
Wow great video. Brutal honesty.
Man, I needed this video, didn't even know how much. Thank you, one of the best on your channel.
couple session of the music background a little bit distracting guys, thank you
great video as always!
Your green screen is causing quite a bit of chatter, it's distracting. You can fix this by avoiding reflective surfaces that are bouncing the light of the green screen. Like the pho metal on the shredder or even the white board. Blue screen could fix the white board issue. But I'd recommend just avoiding reflections all together or being very picky about what they are reflecting
great valueable lessons from alex
Thank You! You are gracious about accepting your responsibility in the losses. But-It’s time we start naming names of people and businesses that are nefarious-just to save others from the same fate.
thanks alex!!! much appreciated
Thank you for the video Alex! While it's difficult to quantify the full impact, the video has already reached 200,000 viewers. Collectively, you've helped save at least $100,000,000.
Damn , the partnerships part was literally directed towards me , the exact exact same thing happened and is happening with my biz , thanks for the advice
Congratulations on your new book launch titled, "Negative 10X" by Alex Hormozi! 😊❤🎉
Instead of shredding the money, you should've thrown it in the garbage, and held a contest for people to win it, or given it to a subscriber or something. More subscriber loyalty, less looking like a guy who is so rich he can shred money. I totally get the concept, and we already know you can, and we love you for your content and your genius, and I'm lucky not to be in need of that money you're shredding, but some people watching would be. Maybe would've been cooler to give it away, as an added layer to this video. Just an idea.
Truly grateful for your generosity of spirit and sharing. Just recently found you through Leila's interview with Chris Do, and loving both of you! Keep up the amazing work!
Obviously not real money lol
Such a great video. I know so many people watching, myself included, have made many mistakes and kicked ourselves, but on a much lower scale, and as we continue to grow and progress, would definitely make some of the "mistakes" you have highlighted in this video. So thank you.
Hit 200k today. Thank you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started with 14k in last month 2024

Hey Alex I would recommend you to make a book where you list down all of your mistakes whatever you have done in life and not just your mistake but mistakes of all of the people in your network who are very rich who got Rich by legit practices and not by their family wealth it will really help common person like me to understand how to play in this life
As I continue to listen to you and learn from your content for years, getting closer to my goals.... you continually sound more and more genius.
Amazing stuff Alex!

Half a mil in the city. 100 - 150k in the country. Also remember he is probably taking about quite a few years ago.
It's Ohio, one of the less sought after states in the US.
And you're talking about Sydney or Melbourne.
In Broken Hill you can find stuff for way under what you're saying.

Hey Alex,
As some one who lost a lot of money on a "bad" partnership before. I completely resonated with this video. Made me feel better. I know what must be done.
I must become so successful that that will be the revenge. They will compare themself to me and fade into irrelevance. But I am not doing it for them. It's for myself.
The bad partnership taught me some valuable lessons though.
Example: - Many People are evil. Many people aren't as good as you. Many people suck. Many people constantly lose and don't perceive it. What could have been...
This video tells your story better than most other videos
Nice video layout, info, color and content! Great work keep it coming!
Just made a mistake in my business. Going to be in debt because of it. Noting I can’t come out on top of. The pain, shame and feeling of stupidity was intense. But I’ve made the best of it. And moving on. Thanks for posting this Alex
Hi Alex, Do you have a remote job in any of your companies? I am a graduate student in Chemistry in Ontario, Canada. I would love to learn from you, you are phenomenal!!!!!
Alex you are a GOAT! Business and finance is intimidating to me - especially the language. This common sense, albeit counter intuitive, no bullshit approach; confirms my suspensions. But I was reluctant to be believe them due to inexperience. You have put an end to my analysis paralysis- one video at a time.
Thank you so much for sharing your business lessons with us! So much wisdom condensed down. Grateful.
Great video Alex

Awesome content!! Saved me a from future mistakes thank you!!!!
Bro that was such a good video!!!
5:28 3 years ago he gave this same lesson and it clicked immediately. The best advice til this day that no one says. You only need to focus on one thing. Ask yourself, What is your wheelhouse?
On nr. 2 you could add “due dilligence”. Always do a do diligence before you buy assets.
I can't thank you enough for this video, potentially saving me years from massive business mistakes.
Very sorry those experiences cause you to lose so much money.
Thanks!
I fucking love your videos bro, money issues always give me so much anxiety and you make it feel so much more fun dealing with money 😂
Solid video. You spoke in a lot of absolute terms “Never do X”, but there’s a fair bit of nuance to all of these lessons. For example, on the last lesson of pricing you said you never recovered that $5 million a year in profit, but you also probably protected a significant amount of market share that you would’ve lost if you didn’t have some kind of reaction to the new competition that emerged.
Question:
How did you get gym owners in a DWY service where they pay you from the extra money they make (GymLaunch) to actually be committed and do the work required to grow the business.
I feel like a full GymLaunch breakdown would be awesome for a video.
Thankyou Alex!
Thank you for your service
Thank you, Alex. As usual just zero out of one
Great lessons Alex! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us!
Love this guy. Thanks 🙏🏼
I felt bad we lost $600 on a first year festival launch. Perspective ❤ thank you 😊
I saw a video of you saying you shouldnt pour your efforts into mulitple income streams and instead focus on one and eventually add on. Im wondering if a similar concept should be taken into consideration for two dropshipping stores. I want to do two different stores with two different products. Is it a good idea?
